問安
1 耶穌基督的奴僕和使徒西門彼得，
致那些藉著我們的神、救主耶穌基督的義，與我們領受同樣寶貴信仰的人：
2 願恩典與平安，藉著你們真正認識神，我們的主耶穌，多多地加給你們！
在信心裡成長
3 主耶穌[a]神性的大能，因我們真正認識以自己的榮耀和美德召喚我們的那一位，就把一切有關生命和敬神的事都賜給了我們。 4 藉著這榮耀和美德[b]，他把那些又寶貴又極大的應許賜給了我們，好使你們能藉著這些應許，逃脫世上因欲望而來的衰朽[c]，成為在神的本性上有份的人。 5 是的，也正是為此，你們應當盡量地殷勤，在信仰上加美德；在美德上加知識； 6 在知識上加自制；在自制上加忍耐；在忍耐上加敬神； 7 在敬神上加弟兄之情；在弟兄之情上加愛； 8 因為你們如果有了這些，並且不斷增多這些，它們就會使你們在真正認識我們主耶穌基督的事上，不會成為懶惰的[d]或不結果子的人； 9 就是說，沒有具備這些的就是瞎眼的，他只看得見眼前的，忘記自己過去的罪孽已經得了潔淨。 10 所以弟兄們，你們當更加努力地確定你們所蒙的召喚和揀選。要知道，如果你們如此行，就絕不會跌倒； 11 而這樣，你們就豐豐富富地得到供應，進入我們的主、救主耶穌基督永恆的國度。
12 所以，雖然你們已經知道這些事，又在你們已有的真理上得了堅固，我還是要[e]不斷地提醒你們。 13 我認為，只要我還在這帳篷裡，就理當用提醒的話來激發你們， 14 因為我知道我脫離這帳篷的時候快到了，就像我們的主耶穌基督也曾向我指明的。 15 我也要努力，使你們在我離世以後，時常想起這些事。
可信的預言
16 要知道，我們從前讓你們明白我們主耶穌基督的大能和他來臨的事，並不是隨從巧言編造的故事，相反，我們是親眼見過他威榮的人。 17 他從父神領受尊貴和榮耀的時候，從那威嚴的榮耀中，有這樣的聲音向他傳來，說：
「這是我的愛子，
我所喜悅的。」[f]
18 這從天上傳來的聲音，是我們與他一起在聖山上的時候聽見的， 19 並且我們有先知更確切的話語。你們如果留心這些話語，把它當做照耀在暗處的燈，一直到天光破曉、晨星在你們心中升起，你們就做得很好了。 20 你們首先要知道這一點：經上的一切預言都不是出於人自己的解釋[g]； 21 因為預言從來不是藉著人的意思傳來的，而是人受聖靈的感動[h]說出從神而來的話[i]。

1 我是耶穌基督的奴僕和使徒西門·彼得，寫信給藉著我們的上帝和救主耶穌基督的義，與我們得到同樣寶貴信心的人。
2 願你們因認識上帝和我們主耶穌而得到豐富的恩典和平安！
追求長進
3 因為我們認識了用自己的榮耀和美德呼召我們的上帝，上帝以祂神聖的能力將生命與敬虔所需要的一切賜給了我們。 4 藉此，祂已將既寶貴又偉大的應許賞給了我們，使我們脫離世上私慾帶來的敗壞，能夠有份於上帝的性情。
5 正因如此，你們要加倍努力，不僅要有信心，還要有好的德行；不僅要有好的德行，還要有知識； 6 不僅要有知識，還要有節制；不僅要有節制，還要有忍耐；不僅要有忍耐，還要有敬虔； 7 不僅要有敬虔，還要有愛弟兄姊妹的心；不僅要有愛弟兄姊妹的心，還要有愛眾人的心。 8 如果充分具備了這些品德，你們對我們主耶穌基督的認識就不會停滯不前，毫無收穫。 9 缺乏上述品德的人不是瞎眼就是目光短淺，忘記他從前的罪已經得到潔淨。
10 所以，弟兄姊妹，你們要更加努力，以確定自己蒙了呼召和揀選。這樣，你們就絕不會失足犯罪， 11 進入我們的主和救主耶穌基督永恆國度的大門必為你們敞開。
12 雖然你們已經知道這些事，並且在所領受的真道上也很堅固，但我還是要常常提醒你們。 13 我覺得應當趁著我還在世的時候[a]提醒你們，激勵你們， 14 因我知道自己離世的日子已經不遠了，正如我們的主耶穌基督指示我的。 15 我要盡力使你們在我離世以後仍然常常記得這些事。
見證基督的榮耀
16 我們從前告訴你們有關主耶穌基督的大能和祂降臨的事，並非根據巧妙虛構的神話，而是我們親眼見過祂的威榮。 17 祂從父上帝那裡得到了尊貴和榮耀，那時從極大的榮光中有聲音對祂說：「這是我的愛子，我甚喜悅祂。」 18 當時我們和祂一同在聖山上，親耳聽見了這來自天上的聲音。
19 這使我們更加確信先知的預言。你們要留意這些預言，把這些預言看作照耀在黑暗中的明燈，一直到天破曉、晨星在你們心中升起。 20 你們首先該知道：聖經上的一切預言都不可隨人的私意解釋， 21 因為預言絕非出於人的意思，都是人受了聖靈的感動，講出上帝的信息。

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,[a] to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. 5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; 6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness; 7 and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brothers,[b] be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. 11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
12 Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth. 13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. 15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.
16 For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”(A) 18 We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. 21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
