论信心

11 信心是对盼望的事有把握，对还没看见的事很确定。 2 古人因有这样的信心而得到了赞许。 3 我们凭信心知道宇宙是借着上帝的话造成的，所以看得见的是从看不见的造出来的。

4 亚伯凭信心向上帝献祭，比该隐所献的更美，蒙了上帝的悦纳，被称为义人。他虽然死了，却仍然借着信心说话。

5 以诺因为信而被接到天上，没有经历死亡。世人找不到他，因为上帝已经把他接走了。其实他在被接之前，已经得到了肯定，是一个蒙上帝喜悦的人。 6 没有信心的人不能得到上帝的喜悦，因为来到上帝面前的人必须相信上帝存在，并相信祂会赏赐一切寻求祂的人。

7 挪亚因为有信心，在上帝指示他未来要发生的事之后，就怀着敬畏的心建造方舟，来救全家的人。他借着信心定了那个世代的罪，并承受了因信而来的义。

8 亚伯拉罕因为有信心，听到上帝的呼召后，就遵命前往他将要承受为产业的地方，但他出发的时候还不知道自己要去哪里。 9 他凭信心像异乡人一样寄居在上帝应许给他的地方。他住在帐篷里，与同受一个应许的以撒和雅各一样。 10 因为他盼望的是一座有根基的城，是由上帝设计、建造的。

11 撒拉过了生育年龄后凭信心仍然得到了孕育后代的能力，因为她认定赐她应许的上帝言出必行。 12 所以，从一个垂暮之年的人生出许多子孙，好像天上的星、海边的沙那么多。

13 这些人到死都满怀信心。他们虽然没有得到上帝所应许的，却从远处望见了，就欢喜快乐，承认自己在世上不过是寄居的异乡人。 14 他们抱这样的态度，表明他们正在寻找一个家乡。 15 如果他们想念的是自己离开的家乡，就找机会回去了。 16 然而，他们渴慕的是天上更美的家乡。所以，上帝不以被他们称为上帝为耻，因为祂已经为他们预备了一座城。

22 约瑟临终之时凭信心提到以色列人将来要离开埃及，并交代要如何处理自己的骸骨。

23 摩西生下来时，他父母见他长得俊美，就凭信心把他藏了三个月，不怕违抗王的命令。

24 摩西长大成人后，凭信心拒绝做法老之女的儿子， 25 宁愿与上帝的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受一时的罪中之乐。 26 在他眼中，为基督所受的凌辱远比埃及的财富更有价值，因为他盼望的是将来的赏赐。 27 他凭信心离开埃及，不怕王的愤怒。他坚忍不拔，好像看见了肉眼不能看见的主。 28 他凭信心守逾越节，行洒血的礼，免得那位杀长子的伤害以色列人。

29 以色列人凭信心渡过红海，如履干地，埃及人试图过去，却被海水淹没。 30 以色列人凭信心绕着耶利哥城走了七天，城墙就倒塌了。

31 妓女喇合凭信心善待以色列的探子，没有与那些不顺服的人一同灭亡。

32 我还要再说下去吗？我没有时间一一细说基甸、巴拉、参孙、耶弗他、大卫、撒母耳和众先知的事了。 33 他们凭信心战胜了敌国，行了公义，得到了应许，堵住了狮子的口， 34 熄灭了猛烈的火焰，刀下逃生，由软弱变为刚强，作战勇猛，击退外敌。

35 有些妇女得回了从死里复活的亲人；有些人受尽严刑拷打，仍不肯苟且偷生，为要得到一个复活后更美好的生命。 36 有些人遭受戏弄和鞭打，还有些人遭受捆锁和囚禁。 37 他们被人用石头打死，受威逼利诱[a]，被锯成两截，丧生刀剑之下，披着绵羊和山羊的皮四处奔跑，受尽贫乏、迫害和虐待， 38 在旷野、群山、山洞和地穴中漂流不定。他们是世界不配有的！

39 这些人都因信心而获得赞许，但他们并未得到上帝的应许， 40 因为上帝为我们预备了更美的，要叫他们与我们一同得到才算完美。

信仰

11 信仰意味着确信我们所期待的事情，肯定我们所看不见的事情。 2 古人就是为此而得到了上帝的赞扬。

3 凭着信仰，我们理解宇宙是在上帝的命令之下创造出来的，因此，可见的事物产生于不可见的事物。

4 凭着信仰，亚伯奉献给上帝的祭物比该隐的祭物更好，因为亚伯的信仰，上帝赞赏他的贡品，称赞他为正直的人。尽管他已经死了，但他依然凭着信仰在说话。

5 凭着信仰，以诺被升到天堂，使他没有经历死亡，人们再也找不到他了。因为上帝把他带走了，他在被提升之前，被赞颂为受到上帝喜欢的人。 6 没有信仰的人是不可能令上帝满意的，因为来到上帝面前的人必须相信上帝的存在，而且相信上帝能够报偿追求他的人。

7 凭着信仰，诺亚对还没有看到的事情听从了警告，他造了一只方舟，使他的全家得救，凭着信仰，他给这个世界定了罪，并成为由信仰而产生的义的继承人。

32 我还能再说什么呢？我没有那么多的时间，一一列举基甸、巴拉、参孙、耶弗他、大卫、撒母耳和先知们的事。 33 凭着信仰，这些人征服了其它王国，建立了正义，并得到了上帝的许诺。他们堵住了狮子之口， 34 扑灭了烈火，逃避了在刀剑下的死亡。他们的懦弱化为坚强。他们在战斗中成长壮大，并且击溃了外邦的敌人。 35 女人们重新得到那些从死里复活的亲人。其他的人虽身受折磨，却拒绝解脱，为的是能够获得更好的复活。 36 一些人面对嘲讽与鞭打，还有一些人面对着锁链与监牢。 37 他们挨石头砸、被锯成两截，被剑杀死。他们披着绵羊皮和山羊皮四处漂泊，穷困潦倒，受迫害与虐待。 38 这个世界不值得他们居住，他们在荒野与山巅间流浪，在山洞和地穴里藏身。

39 这些人因为他们的信仰而受到称赞，但他们并没有得到许诺给他们的一切， 40 因为上帝为我们计划了更美好的事情，因此，他们只有与我们在一起才能完美。

11 Now faith is the realization of what is hoped for, the proof of things not seen. 2 For by this the people of old were approved. 3 By faith we understand the worlds were created by the word of God, in order that what is seen did not come into existence from what is visible.

4 By faith Abel offered to God a greater sacrifice than Cain, by which he was approved that he was righteous, because[a] God approved him for his gifts, and through it[b] he still speaks, although he[c] is dead. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up, so that he did not experience death, and he was not found, because God took him up. For before his removal, he had been approved as having been pleasing[d] to God. 6 Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and is a rewarder of those who seek him. 7 By faith Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, out of reverence constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family, by which he pronounced sentence on the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when he[e] was called, obeyed to go out to a place that he was going to receive for an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he lived in the land of promise as a stranger, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise. 10 For he was expecting the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11 By faith also, with Sarah[f],[g] he received the ability to procreate[h] even past the normal age[i], because he regarded the one who had promised to be faithful. 12 And therefore these were fathered from one man, and he being as good as dead, as the stars of heaven in number and like the innumerable sand by the shore of the sea.

13 These all died in faith without receiving the promises, but seeing them from a distance and welcoming them, and admitting that they were strangers and temporary residents on the earth. 14 For those who say such things make clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15 And if they remember[j] that land from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered Isaac, and the one who received the promises was ready to offer his one and only son, 18 with reference to whom it was said, “In Isaac your descendants will be named,”[k] 19 having reasoned that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which he received him back also as a symbol. 20 By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things that were going to happen. 21 By faith Jacob, as he[l] was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, as he[m] was dying, mentioned about the exodus of the sons of Israel and gave instructions about his bones.

23 By faith Moses, when he[n] was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw the child was handsome, and they were not afraid of the edict of the king. 24 By faith Moses, when he[o] was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing instead to be mistreated with the people of God rather than to experience the transitory enjoyment of sin, 26 considering reproach endured for the sake of Christ[p] greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king, for he persevered as if he[q] saw the invisible one. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, in order that the one who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them. 29 By faith they crossed the Red Sea as if on dry land; the Egyptians, when they made the attempt[r], were drowned. 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they[s] had been marched around for seven days. 31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she[t] welcomed the spies in peace.

32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, accomplished justice, obtained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions, 34 extinguished the effectiveness of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong from weakness, became mighty in battle, put to flight enemy battle lines. 35 Women received back their dead by resurrection. But others were tortured, not accepting release, in order that they might gain a better resurrection. 36 And others experienced mocking and flogging[u], and in addition bonds and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they died by murder with a sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, impoverished, afflicted, mistreated, 38 of whom the world was not worthy, wandering about on deserts and mountains and in caves and in holes in the ground. 39 And although they[v] all were approved[w] through their faith, they did not receive what was promised, 40 because[x] God had provided something better for us, so that they would not be made perfect without us.

11 Now faith is the (A)certainty of things [a](B)hoped for, a [b]proof of (C)things not seen. 2 For by it the (D)people of old [c](E)gained approval.

3 By faith we understand that the [d](F)world has been created (G)by the word of God so that what is seen (H)has not been made out of things that are visible. 4 By faith (I)Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he was (J)attested to be righteous, God testifying [e]about his (K)gifts, and through [f]faith, though (L)he is dead, he still speaks. 5 By faith (M)Enoch was taken up so that he would not (N)see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for before he was taken up, he was attested to have been pleasing to God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who (O)comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him. 7 By faith (P)Noah, being (Q)warned by God about (R)things not yet seen, [g](S)in reverence (T)prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of (U)the righteousness which is according to faith.

13 (AH)All these died in faith, (AI)without receiving the promises, but (AJ)having seen and welcomed them from a distance, and (AK)having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. 15 And indeed if they had been [k]thinking of that country which they left, (AL)they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a (AM)heavenly one. Therefore (AN)God is not [l]ashamed to be (AO)called their God; for (AP)He has prepared a city for them.

17 By faith (AQ)Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had (AR)received the promises was offering up his [m]only son; 18 it was he to whom it was said, “(AS)Through Isaac your [n]descendants shall be named.” 19 [o]He considered that (AT)God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back [p]as a [q](AU)type. 20 By faith (AV)Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come. 21 By faith (AW)Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and (AX)worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. 22 By faith (AY)Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.
