6 所以我們要離開有關基督的初級道理,努力邁向成熟,而不是再次打基礎:教導為致死的行為悔改、信靠上帝、 2 各種洗禮、按手禮、死人復活、永遠的審判等道理。 3 上帝若許可,我們會這樣做。
4 有些人曾蒙上帝光照,嚐過天賜恩典的滋味,有份於聖靈, 5 嚐過上帝之道的甘美,領悟到永世的權能, 6 卻背棄了真道,讓他們重新悔改是不可能的。因為他們等於把上帝的兒子重新釘在十字架上,使祂再度公開受辱。 7 一塊經常受到雨水滋潤的田地若為耕種的人長出莊稼來,就蒙上帝賜福; 8 若長出來的盡是荊棘和蒺藜,就毫無價值,它會面臨被咒詛的危險,最後必遭焚燒。
9 親愛的弟兄姊妹,雖然我們這樣說,卻深信你們的光景比這強,有得救的表現。 10 因為上帝並非不公義,以致忘記你們為祂所做的工作以及你們過去和現在服侍聖徒所表現的愛心。 11 願你們各人從始至終表現出同樣的殷勤,以便對所盼望的有完全的把握。 12 這樣,你們就不致懶散,可以效法那些憑信心和忍耐承受應許的人。
上帝的應許可靠
13 當初,上帝向亞伯拉罕許下諾言的時候,因為沒有比自己更大的可以憑著起誓,就憑自己起誓說: 14 「我必賜福給你,使你子孫眾多。」 15 亞伯拉罕經過耐心的等待,得到了上帝的應許。
16 人總是指著比自己更大的起誓,並用誓言作保證,了結各樣的爭論。 17 同樣,上帝為要向承受應許的人顯明祂的旨意絕不更改,就用誓言向他們保證。 18 上帝絕不說謊,祂將永不改變的應許和誓言給了我們,使我們這些尋找避難所、持定擺在前面之盼望的人可以大得鼓勵。 19 我們有這盼望作我們靈魂的錨,既安穩又可靠,一直通往聖幕裡面的至聖所。 20 耶穌照麥基洗德的模式成了永遠的大祭司,祂替我們先進入了聖幕內。

6 Perciò, lasciando da parte l'insegnamento iniziale su Cristo, passiamo a ciò che è più completo, senza gettare di nuovo le fondamenta della rinunzia alle opere morte e della fede in Dio, 2 della dottrina dei battesimi, dell'imposizione delle mani, della risurrezione dei morti e del giudizio eterno. 3 Questo noi intendiamo fare, se Dio lo permette.
4 Quelli infatti che sono stati una volta illuminati, che hanno gustato il dono celeste, sono diventati partecipi dello Spirito Santo 5 e hanno gustato la buona parola di Dio e le meraviglie del mondo futuro. 6 Tuttavia se sono caduti, è impossibile rinnovarli una seconda volta portandoli alla conversione, dal momento che per loro conto crocifiggono di nuovo il Figlio di Dio e lo espongono all'infamia. 7 Infatti una terra imbevuta della pioggia che spesso cade su di essa, se produce erbe utili a quanti la coltivano, riceve benedizione da Dio; 8 ma se produce pruni e spine, non ha alcun valore ed è vicina alla maledizione: sarà infine arsa dal fuoco!
Parole di speranza e di incoraggiamento
9 Quanto a voi però, carissimi, anche se parliamo così, siamo certi che sono in voi cose migliori e che portano alla salvezza. 10 Dio infatti non è ingiusto da dimenticare il vostro lavoro e la carità che avete dimostrato verso il suo nome, con i servizi che avete reso e rendete tuttora ai santi. 11 Soltanto desideriamo che ciascuno di voi dimostri il medesimo zelo perché la sua speranza abbia compimento sino alla fine, 12 e perché non diventiate pigri, ma piuttosto imitatori di coloro che con la fede e la perseveranza divengono eredi delle promesse.
13 Quando infatti Dio fece la promessa ad Abramo, non potendo giurare per uno superiore a sé, giurò per se stesso, 14 dicendo: Ti benedirò e ti moltiplicherò molto. 15 Così, avendo perseverato, Abramo conseguì la promessa. 16 Gli uomini infatti giurano per qualcuno maggiore di loro e per loro il giuramento è una garanzia che pone fine ad ogni controversia. 17 Perciò Dio, volendo mostrare più chiaramente agli eredi della promessa l'irrevocabilità della sua decisione, intervenne con un giuramento 18 perché grazie a due atti irrevocabili, nei quali è impossibile che Dio mentisca, noi che abbiamo cercato rifugio in lui avessimo un grande incoraggiamento nell'afferrarci saldamente alla speranza che ci è posta davanti. 19 In essa infatti noi abbiamo come un'àncora della nostra vita, sicura e salda, la quale penetra fin nell'interno del velo del santuario, 20 dove Gesù è entrato per noi come precursore, essendo divenuto sommo sacerdote per sempre alla maniera di Melchìsedek.

Chapter 6
1 Therefore, let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance to maturity, without laying the foundation all over again: repentance from dead works and faith in God,(A) 2 instruction about baptisms[a] and laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.(B) 3 And we shall do this, if only God permits. 4 For it is impossible in the case of those who have once been enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift[b] and shared in the holy Spirit(C) 5 and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,[c] 6 and then have fallen away, to bring them to repentance again, since they are recrucifying the Son of God for themselves[d] and holding him up to contempt.(D) 7 Ground that has absorbed the rain falling upon it repeatedly and brings forth crops useful to those for whom it is cultivated receives a blessing from God.(E) 8 But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is rejected; it will soon be cursed and finally burned.(F)
9 But we are sure in your regard, beloved, of better things related to salvation, even though we speak in this way. 10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name by having served and continuing to serve the holy ones. 11 We earnestly desire each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of hope until the end,(G) 12 so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who, through faith and patience,(H) are inheriting the promises.[e]
God’s Promise Immutable. 13 [f](I)When God made the promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, “he swore by himself,” 14 and said, “I will indeed bless you and multiply” you.(J) 15 And so, after patient waiting,(K) he obtained the promise.[g] 16 Human beings swear by someone greater than themselves; for them an oath serves as a guarantee and puts an end to all argument. 17 So when God wanted to give the heirs of his promise an even clearer demonstration of the immutability of his purpose, he intervened with an oath,(L) 18 so that by two immutable things,[h] in which it was impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to hold fast to the hope that lies before us.(M) 19 This we have as an anchor of the soul,(N) sure and firm, which reaches into the interior behind the veil,[i] 20 where Jesus has entered on our behalf as forerunner, becoming high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.(O)

- 6:2 Instruction about baptisms: not simply about Christian baptism but about the difference between it and similar Jewish rites, such as proselyte baptism, John’s baptism, and the washings of the Qumran sectaries. Laying on of hands: in Acts 8:17; 19:6 this rite effects the infusion of the holy Spirit; in Acts 6:6; 13:3; 1 Tm 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tm 1:6 it is a means of conferring some ministry or mission in the early Christian community.
- 6:4 Enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift: this may refer to baptism and the Eucharist, respectively, but more probably means the neophytes’ enlightenment by faith and their experience of salvation.
- 6:5 Tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come: the proclamation of the word of God was accompanied by signs of the Spirit’s power (1 Thes 1:5; 1 Cor 2:4).
- 6:6 They are recrucifying the Son of God for themselves: a colorful description of the malice of apostasy, which is portrayed as again crucifying and deriding the Son of God.
- 6:12 Imitators of those…inheriting the promises: the author urges the addressees to imitate the faith of the holy people of the Old Testament, who now possess the promised goods of which they lived in hope. This theme will be treated fully in Hb 6:11.
- 6:13 He swore by himself: God’s promise to Abraham, which he confirmed by an oath (“I swear by myself,” Gn 22:16) was the basis for the hope of all Abraham’s descendants.
- 6:15 He obtained the promise: this probably refers not to Abraham’s temporary possession of the land but to the eschatological blessings that Abraham and the other patriarchs have now come to possess.
- 6:18 Two immutable things: the promise and the oath, both made by God.
- 6:19 Anchor…into the interior behind the veil: a mixed metaphor. The Holy of Holies, beyond the veil that separates it from the Holy Place (Ex 26:31–33), is seen as the earthly counterpart of the heavenly abode of God. This theme will be developed in Hb 9.

6 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
