死後的盼望
5 我們知道，當我們屬地的家——這帳篷被拆毀的時候，我們就有從神而來的殿宇[a]，不是人手所造的，而是在天上的永恆的家。 2 實際上，我們就是在這帳篷裡呻吟嘆息，切切地想穿上我們那從天上而來的居所。 3 如果真的穿上[b]，我們將來被看見時，就不是赤身的。 4 原來我們在這帳篷裡的人，承受著壓力，甚至呻吟嘆息；不是因為想要脫下，而是想要穿上，好讓這會死的被生命所吞沒。 5 為此而預備我們的就是神；他賜給我們聖靈做為預付憑據[c]。
6 因此我們總是滿懷勇氣，儘管知道我們還住在這身體裡的時候，是與主相離的； 7 原來我們行事是藉著信，不是藉著眼見。 8 是的，我們滿懷勇氣，更樂意離開這身體，與主同住。 9 所以我們立定心志，無論是住在身體裡，還是離開身體，都要得主的喜悅， 10 因為我們大家都必須站[d]在基督的審判臺前，好使每個人都為自己藉著身體所做的，或善或惡，領受回報。
11 既然如此，我們因為知道敬畏主，就勸導人。我們在神面前是顯明的，但我希望在你們的良心裡，也是顯明的。 12 我們不是再次向你們推薦自己，而是給你們一個誇耀我們的機會，好讓你們可以應對那些只憑外貌、不憑內心誇耀的人， 13 因為我們如果癲狂，是為了神；如果清醒，是為了你們。 14 實際上，基督的愛催逼著我們，因為我們如此判定：既然一個人[e]替所有的人死了，所有的人就都死了； 15 基督替所有的人死了，好讓那些活著的人不再為自己活，卻為替他們死而復活的基督而活。
勸人與神和好的服事
16 所以，從今以後，我們不按人的標準[f]看任何人了。雖然我們曾經按人的標準[g]認識基督，但現在我們不再這樣認識他了。 17 因此，如果有人在基督裡，他就是新造的人[h]；舊的已經過去，看哪，新的已經來臨[i]。 18 這一切都是出於神，他藉著基督[j]使我們與他自己和好，並且把這勸人與他[k]和好的服事工作賜給了我們。 19 這就是說，在基督裡，神使世人與自己和好，不把他們的過犯算在他們的身上，又把這和好的福音[l]託付了我們。 20 因此我們是基督的特使，就像神藉著我們在勸告人——我們代替基督請求說：「與神和好吧！」 21 神使那位沒有罪[m]的替我們成為罪[n]，好使我們在他裡面成為神的義。

5 我们知道，如果我们在尘世的帐篷被毁。上帝会赐给我们在天堂里的一幢不朽的住宅。它不是人类的双手建造的。 2 在这个帐篷里时，我们呻吟，因为我们渴望住进天上的居所， 3 就仿佛穿上衣服，不至于赤身裸体一样。 4 我们在这帐篷里身受重压，呻吟。我们不是想脱掉现在的衣裳（尘世的身体），而是要在它上面套上天堂的新衣裳，为了让生命吞没那必朽的。 5 就是为了这个目的，上帝准备了我们，他把圣灵 [a]赐给我们做为他将赐给我们他所应许的保证。
6 因此，我们总是满怀信心。我们知道，只要我们生活在这个身体之中，我们就在远离主， 7 因为我们的生活基于信仰，而不是凭我们所能看得见的。 8 所以我说我们充满信心，情愿离开我们的身体，与主一同生活。 9 因此，不论我们生活在现在这个身体里，还是在那里与主生活在一起，我们唯一的目的是要取悦上帝。 10 我们都必须站在基督面前接受审判，每个人都将为自己活在尘世的身体里时所做的一切，或善或恶而得到报赏和惩罚。
帮助人们成为上帝的朋友
11 既然我们知道敬畏上帝意味着什么，所以，我们劝导人们接受真理。上帝完全了解我们，但我希望你们也能完全了解我们。 12 我们不是再次向你们称赞自己，而是让你们有机会为我们感到骄傲，让你们对那些只为表面而不为内心的事物骄傲的人有话回答。 13 如果我们疯了，那是为了上帝。如果我们心智正常，那是为了你们。 14 基督的爱支配着我们，因为我们坚信：一人（基督）为人类而死，所以，全人类都死了。 15 基督为全人类而死，以便让活着的人不再只为自己而活，而是为那位替他们死去并复活的基督而活。
16 因此，从此，我们不再用世俗的眼光看待任何人。过去我们用世俗的眼光看待基督，但现在我们不再这么看了。 17 因此，在基督里的任何人，都会得以更新。旧的秩序消失了，新的秩序来临了。 18 这一切都来自上帝，他通过基督使我们与他重归于好。并且赋予我们使人们与上帝重归于好的任务。 19 我指的是，上帝在基督里使世人与自己重归于好，不计较他们的罪过。他把传播和好信息的任务委托给我们， 20 所以我们代表基督，做使者的工作，就像上帝通过我们向你们召唤一样。我们代表基督请求你们∶“与上帝重归于好吧。” 21 基督没有罪，可是为了我们，上帝使他成为罪孽，以便使我们在基督里在上帝面前无罪。

Awaiting the New Body
5 For we know that if the earthly(A) tent(B) we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan,(C) longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,(D) 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan(E) and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,(F) so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.(G)
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight.(H) 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.(I) 9 So we make it our goal to please him,(J) whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us(K) for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord,(L) we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.(M) 12 We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again,(N) but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us,(O) so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. 13 If we are “out of our mind,”(P) as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.(Q) 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves(R) but for him who died for them(S) and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly(T) point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,(U) the new creation(V) has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!(W) 18 All this is from God,(X) who reconciled us to himself through Christ(Y) and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.(Z) And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,(AA) as though God were making his appeal through us.(AB) We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.(AC) 21 God made him who had no sin(AD) to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.(AE)
