结尾的警告与劝勉
13 这是我第三次到你们那里去。“任何事，凭两个或三个见证人的口，才能成立。”[a] 2 我先前说过了，现在虽然我不在你们那里，还要像第二次在你们那里的时候一样，预先警告那些从前犯了罪的人和所有其余的人：我如果再来，不会顾惜！ 3 这是因为你们寻找基督在我里面说话的凭证。基督对你们并不是软弱的；相反，他在你们中间是有大能的。 4 实际上，基督虽然在软弱中被钉十字架，但他却在神的大能中活着。的确，我们虽然在基督里也软弱，但为了你们，我们却在神的大能中，将要与基督一同活着。
5 你们要察验自己是否在信仰中，要考验自己。难道你们不了解耶稣基督在你们里面吗？除非你们是经不起考验的。 6 但是我希望你们明白，我们不是经不起考验的。 7 我们祈求神，使你们不做任何恶事。这不是要显明我们是经过考验的，而是要你们行美善的事，就算我们可能像是经不起考验的。 8 因为我们做任何事都不能抵挡真理，只能拥护真理。 9 实际上，当我们软弱而你们刚强的时候，我们就欢喜；我们还祈求这一点：就是你们得以完全。 10 为此，我不在你们那里的时候写了这些事，好让我来到的时候，不必用主所赐给我的权柄严厉地对待你们。这权柄是为了造就人，并不是为了拆毁人。
11 最后，弟兄们，你们要欢喜！愿你们得以完全，愿你们得到安慰！你们要同心合意，要彼此和睦。这样，慈爱与平安的神就会与你们同在。 12 你们要用圣洁的亲吻礼彼此问候。所有的圣徒都问候你们。

13 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.
13 All the saints salute you.
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Paul Prefers Gentleness
7 Now [c]I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though (M)we may seem disqualified. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 9 For we are glad (N)when we are weak and you are strong. And this also we pray, (O)that you may be made complete. 10 (P)Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the (Q)authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.
