9 第五位天使吹號，我就看見一顆星從天上落到地上，有無底坑的鑰匙賜給它。 2 它開了無底坑，就有煙從坑裡冒出來，好像大火爐的煙，太陽和天空因這坑的煙就都變黑了。 3 有蝗蟲從煙裡出來到了地上；有能力賜給牠們，好像地上蠍子的能力一樣。 4 有話吩咐牠們，不可傷害地上的草，和所有青翠的東西，以及所有的樹木，只可傷害那些額上沒有 神印記的人。 5 蝗蟲沒有能力殺死他們，只可使他們受痛苦五個月。他們的痛苦就像人給蠍子螫了的痛苦一樣。 6 在那些日子，人要求死，卻決不得死；切願要死，死卻遠離他們。
7 蝗蟲的形象，好像是預備好了要上陣的戰馬一樣。牠們頭上戴的好像金冠冕，臉像人的面孔， 8 牠們的頭髮好像女人的頭髮，牙齒好像獅子的牙齒； 9 牠們的胸甲像鐵甲，牠們翅膀的聲音好像許多馬車奔馳上陣的聲音。 10 牠們好像蠍子一樣有尾巴和毒刺，牠們的尾巴能傷害人五個月。 11 牠們有無底坑的使者作王統治牠們。這王的名字，希伯來話叫阿巴頓，希臘話叫阿波倫。

13 第六位天使吹號，我聽見有一個聲音從 神面前金壇的四角發出來， 14 對拿著號筒的第六位天使說：“把捆綁在幼發拉底大河的那四個使者放了吧！” 15 那四個使者就被釋放了，他們已經預備好，要在某年某月某日某時殺害人類的三分之一。 16 馬兵的數目有二萬萬；他們這個數目我聽見了。 17 在異象中，我看見那些馬和騎馬的是這樣：騎馬的穿著火紅紫青和硫磺色的胸甲，馬的頭好像獅子頭，有火、煙和硫磺從馬的口中噴出來。 18 馬口中噴出來的火、煙和硫磺這三種災害，殺死了人類的三分之一。 19 馬的能力是在口中和尾巴上。牠們的尾巴像蛇，並且有頭用來傷人。

The fifth and sixth trumpet plagues
9 Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the abyss. 2 He opened the shaft of the abyss; and smoke rose up from the shaft, like smoke from a huge furnace. The sun and air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft. 3 Then locusts came forth from the smoke and onto the earth. They were given power like the power that scorpions have on the earth. 4 They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree. They could only hurt the people who didn’t have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 The locusts weren’t allowed to kill them, but only to make them suffer for five months—and the suffering they inflict is like that of a scorpion when it strikes a person. 6 In those days people will seek death, but they won’t find it. They will want to die, but death will run away from them.
7 The locusts looked like horses ready for battle. On their heads were what seemed to be gold crowns. Their faces were like human faces, 8 their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 In front they had what seemed to be iron armor upon their chests, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of many chariots and horses racing into battle. 10 They also have tails with stingers, just like scorpions; and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months. 11 Their king is an angel from the abyss, whose Hebrew name is Abaddon,[a] and whose Greek name is Apollyon.[b]
12 The first horror has passed. Look! Two horrors are still coming after this.
13 Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the gold altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 Then the four angels who had been made ready for that hour, day, month, and year were released to kill a third of humankind. 16 The number of cavalry troops was two hundred million. I heard their number. 17 And this is the way I saw the horses and their riders in the vision: they had breastplates that were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The horses’ heads were like lions’ heads, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur. 18 By these three plagues a third of humankind was killed: by the fire, smoke, and sulfur coming out of their mouths. 19 The horses’ power is in their mouths and their tails, for their tails are like snakes with heads that inflict injuries.
20 The rest of humankind, who weren’t killed by these plagues, didn’t change their hearts and lives and turn from their handiwork. They didn’t stop worshipping demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that can’t see or hear or walk. 21 They didn’t turn away from their murders, their spells and drugs, their sexual immorality, or their stealing.

9 And the fifth angel blew the trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key of the shaft of the abyss was given to him. 2 And he opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke went up from the shaft like smoke from a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came to the earth, and power was given to them like the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was told to them that they should not damage the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, except those people who do not have the seal of God on their[a] foreheads. 5 And it was granted to them that they should not kill them, but that they would be tormented five months, and their torment is like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a person. 6 And in those days people will seek death and will never find it, and they will long to die, and death will flee from them.
7 And the appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle, and on their heads were something like crowns similar in appearance to gold, and their faces were like men’s faces, 8 and they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions, 9 and they had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of many horse-drawn chariots[b] running into battle. 10 And they have tails similar in appearance to scorpions, and stings, and their power to injure people for five months is in their tails. 11 They have as king over them the angel of the abyss, whose name[c] in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
12 The first woe has passed. Behold, two woes are still coming after these things.
A Third of Humanity Killed by Plagues
13 And the sixth angel blew the trumpet, and I heard one voice from the horns[d] of the golden altar that is before God 14 saying to the sixth angel, the one who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who have been bound at the great river Euphrates!” 15 And the four angels who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year were released, in order that they should kill a third of humanity. 16 And the number of the troops of the cavalry was two hundred million[e]; I heard the number of them. 17 And in this way I saw the horses in the vision, and those seated on them, who had fiery red and hyacinth-colored and sulphurous yellow breastplates, and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire and smoke and sulphur. 18 By these three plagues a third of humanity was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the sulphur that came out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails, for their tails are similar in appearance to snakes, having heads, and with them they cause injury.[f]
20 And the rest of humanity who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands, in order not to worship[g] the demons and the gold and silver and bronze and stone and wooden idols, which are able neither to see nor to hear nor to walk, 21 and they did not repent of their murders or of their magic spells or of their sexual immorality or of their thefts.

9 Il quinto angelo suonò la tromba e vidi un astro caduto dal cielo sulla terra. Gli fu data la chiave del pozzo dell'Abisso; 2 egli aprì il pozzo dell'Abisso e salì dal pozzo un fumo come il fumo di una grande fornace, che oscurò il sole e l'atmosfera. 3 Dal fumo uscirono cavallette che si sparsero sulla terra e fu dato loro un potere pari a quello degli scorpioni della terra. 4 E fu detto loro di non danneggiare né erba né arbusti né alberi, ma soltanto gli uomini che non avessero il sigillo di Dio sulla fronte. 5 Però non fu concesso loro di ucciderli, ma di tormentarli per cinque mesi, e il tormento è come il tormento dello scorpione quando punge un uomo. 6 In quei giorni gli uomini cercheranno la morte, ma non la troveranno; brameranno morire, ma la morte li fuggirà.
7 Queste cavallette avevano l'aspetto di cavalli pronti per la guerra. 12 Il primo «guai» è passato. Rimangono ancora due «guai» dopo queste cose.
La sesta tromba
13 Il sesto angelo suonò la tromba. Allora udii una voce dai lati dell'altare d'oro che si trova dinanzi a Dio. 14 E diceva al sesto angelo che aveva la tromba: «Sciogli i quattro angeli incatenati sul gran fiume Eufràte». 15 Furono sciolti i quattro angeli pronti per l'ora, il giorno, il mese e l'anno per sterminare un terzo dell'umanità. 16 Il numero delle truppe di cavalleria era duecento milioni; ne intesi il numero. 17 Così mi apparvero i cavalli e i cavalieri: questi avevano corazze di fuoco, di giacinto, di zolfo. Le teste dei cavalli erano come le teste dei leoni e dalla loro bocca usciva fuoco, fumo e zolfo. 18 Da questo triplice flagello, dal fuoco, dal fumo e dallo zolfo che usciva dalla loro bocca, fu ucciso un terzo dell'umanità. 19 La potenza dei cavalli infatti sta nella loro bocca e nelle loro code; le loro code sono simili a serpenti, hanno teste e con esse nuociono.
20 Il resto dell'umanità che non perì a causa di questi flagelli, non rinunziò alle opere delle sue mani; non cessò di prestar culto ai demòni e agli idoli d'oro, d'argento, di bronzo, di pietra e di legno, che non possono né vedere, né udire, né camminare; 21 non rinunziò nemmeno agli omicidi, né alle stregonerie, né alla fornicazione, né alle ruberie.

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.(A) The star was given the key(B) to the shaft of the Abyss.(C) 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.(D) The sun and sky were darkened(E) by the smoke from the Abyss.(F) 3 And out of the smoke locusts(G) came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions(H) of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm(I) the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,(J) but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(K) 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.(L) And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion(M) when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.(N)

17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
