6 那时，所罗门说：
“耶和华啊，
你曾说你要住在密云中，
2 现在我为你建造了殿宇，
作你永远的居所。”

3 王转身为站立在那里的以色列全体会众祝福。 4 他说：“以色列的上帝耶和华当受称颂！祂亲口给我父大卫的应许，祂也亲手成就了！ 5 祂曾说，‘自从我把我的子民带出埃及以来，我并没有在以色列众支派中选出一座城建造殿宇作为我名所在之地，也没有选立一人做我以色列子民的君王。 6 但如今，我拣选了耶路撒冷作为我名所在之地，又拣选了大卫来治理我的以色列子民。’”

所罗门的祷告
12 所罗门当着以色列会众的面，站在耶和华的坛前，向天伸出双手祷告。 13 他曾造一个长二点二五米，宽二点二五米，高一点三五米的铜台，放在院子中间。他站在台上，当着以色列会众的面跪下，向天伸出双手， 14 祷告说：“以色列的上帝耶和华啊，天上地下没有神明可以与你相比！你向尽心遵行你旨意的仆人守约、施慈爱。 15 你持守给你仆人——我父大卫的应许，你曾亲口应许，你今天亲手成就了。 16 以色列的上帝耶和华啊，你曾对你仆人——我父大卫说，‘若你的子孙像你一样谨慎行事，遵行我的律法，你的王朝就不会中断。’求你信守这应许。 17 以色列的上帝耶和华啊，求你实现你给你仆人大卫的应许。
18 “然而，上帝啊，你真的会住在人间吗？看啊，诸天尚且不够你居住，更何况我建造的这殿呢？ 19 可是，我的上帝耶和华啊，求你垂顾你仆人的祷告和祈求，垂听你仆人在你面前的呼求和祷告。 20 愿你昼夜看顾这殿——你应许立你名的地方！你仆人向着这地方祷告的时候，求你垂听。 21 你仆人和你的以色列子民向这地方祈祷的时候，求你从你天上的居所垂听，赦免我们的罪。

26 “当你的子民得罪你，你惩罚他们，使天不降雨时，如果他们向着这地方祷告，承认你的名，并离开罪恶， 27 求你在天上垂听，赦免你仆人——你以色列子民的罪，教导他们走正道，降下甘霖滋润你赐给你子民作产业的土地。

6 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;(A) 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.(B)”
3 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 4 Then he said:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said, 5 ‘Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel. 6 But now I have chosen Jerusalem(C) for my Name(D) to be there, and I have chosen David(E) to rule my people Israel.’
7 “My father David had it in his heart(F) to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 8 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. 9 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
10 “The Lord has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant(G) of the Lord that he made with the people of Israel.”
Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication(H)(I)
12 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands. 13 Now he had made a bronze platform,(J) five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high,[a] and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down(K) before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said:
“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you(L) in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love(M) with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 15 You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised(N) and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
16 “Now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail(O) to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law,(P) as you have done.’ 17 And now, Lord, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.
18 “But will God really dwell(Q) on earth with humans? The heavens,(R) even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 19 Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. 20 May your eyes(S) be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name(T) there. May you hear(U) the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 21 Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.(V)
22 “When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath(W) and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple, 23 then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning(X) the guilty and bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
24 “When your people Israel have been defeated(Y) by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple, 25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain(Z) because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, 27 then hear from heaven and forgive(AA) the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.
28 “When famine(AB) or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive,(AC) and deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know the human heart),(AD) 31 so that they will fear you(AE) and walk in obedience to you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
32 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come(AF) from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand(AG) and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner(AH) asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
34 “When your people go to war against their enemies,(AI) wherever you send them, and when they pray(AJ) to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
36 “When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin(AK)—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive(AL) to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart(AM) in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive(AN) your people, who have sinned against you.
40 “Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive(AO) to the prayers offered in this place.
41 “Now arise,(AP) Lord God, and come to your resting place,(AQ)
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests,(AR) Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.(AS)
42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.(AT)
Remember the great love(AU) promised to David your servant.”

Solomon’s Speech
3 King Solomon turned around and blessed all the Israelites gathered in front of him. 4 He said, “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel. He has done what he promised my father David. The Lord said, 5 ‘I brought my people out of Egypt. But I have not yet chosen a city in any tribe of Israel for my temple. This is where I have chosen to be worshiped. I have not chosen a man to lead my people, the Israelites. 6 But now I have chosen Jerusalem as the place I am to be worshiped. And I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’
7 “My father David wanted to build a temple as a place to worship the Lord, the God of Israel. 8 But the Lord said to my father, ‘David, it was good that you wanted to build a temple as a place to worship me. 9 But you are not the one who will build the temple. Your own son will build my temple.’
10 “Now the Lord has kept his promise. I have taken my father David’s place. Now I am Israel’s king. This is what the Lord promised. And I have built the Temple where the Lord, the God of Israel, will be worshiped. 11 I have put the Ark of the Covenant there. The agreement that the Lord made with the people of Israel is kept in the Ark of the Covenant.”
Solomon’s Prayer
12 Solomon stood in front of the Lord’s altar. He was standing before all the people gathered there. Then he spread his arms out. 13 He had made a bronze platform. It was 7½ feet long, 7½ feet wide and 7½ feet high. And he had placed it in the middle of the outer courtyard. Solomon stood on the platform. Then he kneeled in front of all the people of Israel who were gathered there. Solomon spread his hands out toward the sky. 14 He said, “Lord, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven or on earth. You keep your agreement of love with your servants who completely obey you. 15 You have kept your promise to my father David, your servant. With your words you made a promise. And with the work of your hands, you have made that promise come true today.
16 “Now, Lord, God of Israel, also keep this promise you made to my father David, your servant. You said, ‘David, you will always have someone from your family rule Israel. But this will happen only if they are careful to obey my teachings in everything they do. They must obey my teachings just as you have.’ 17 Now, Lord, God of Israel, keep your promise. Let this promise to your servant David come true.
18 “But, God, can you really live here on the earth with people? Not even the highest of heavens can hold you. And this Temple I built cannot hold you. 19 But pay attention to my prayer and my cry for mercy. Lord my God, listen to my cry. Listen to the prayer I, your servant, pray to you. 20 I pray that you will watch over this Temple day and night. You said you would make this the place to worship you. I pray that you will hear my prayers when I pray facing this Temple. 21 Hear my prayers and the prayers of your people Israel. Hear us when we pray facing this Temple. Hear from your home in heaven. And when you hear our prayers, forgive us.
22 “A person might do something wrong against someone else. The person who did the wrong will have to swear he is innocent. He will come to swear this before your altar in the Temple. 23 When he does this, listen from heaven and act. Judge your servants. Punish the one who did wrong. Make him suffer the same things he made others suffer. Prove that the person who has done right is innocent.
24 “An enemy might defeat your people Israel because they have sinned against you. Then the people of Israel will return to you and say you are God. They will pray and beg you for help in this Temple. 25 When this happens, listen from heaven. Forgive the sin of your people, the Israelites. Bring them back into the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 “The sky might not let it rain because your people have sinned against you. Then they will pray, facing this Temple. They will say you are God. They will stop doing their sin because you are punishing them. 27 When that happens, then listen from heaven. Forgive the sins of your servants, the Israelites. Then teach them the right way to live. And send rain on your land. This is the land you gave your people as their own.
28 “There might be a time without food in the land. Or there might be terrible sicknesses, disease in the crops, mildew, locusts or grasshoppers. Or enemies might attack Israel’s cities. There might be a disaster in Israel. 29 Then one of your people, an Israelite, will pray or cry for help. Each person knows his own trouble and pain. He will spread his arms out, facing this Temple. 30 When that happens, then listen from heaven, your home. Forgive and treat each person as he should be treated. You know what is in his heart. (Only you know what is in a person’s heart.) 31 Then the people will fear and obey you as long as they live in this land. This is the land you gave our ancestors.
32 “A foreigner might come here from a country far away. He is not one of your people, the people of Israel. But he will come because he has heard about your greatness and power. He knows about the things you have done. When he comes and prays, facing this Temple, 33 then listen. Listen from heaven, your home. And do what he asks you to do. Then all the peoples of the earth will know you and respect you, just as your people Israel do. And they will know that this Temple I built is for worshiping you.
34 “You might send your people to fight their enemies. They will pray to you, facing this city you chose and the Temple I built for worshiping you. 35 If they do, then listen from heaven to their prayer. Listen to their cry and help them.
36 “People will sin against you. There is not a person who does not sin. And you will become angry with them. You will let an enemy defeat them. The enemy will capture them and take them away. It may be to a land far away or near. 37 But then they will be sorry for what they have done. As captives in that land, they will cry out to you. They will say, ‘We have sinned. We have done wrong and acted wickedly.’ 38 In the land where they are captives, they will come back to you. They will want to obey you completely. They will pray, facing their land, the land you gave their ancestors. They will pray, facing the city you chose and the Temple I built for you. 39 When this happens, listen from your home in heaven. Listen to their cries and help them. Forgive your people who have sinned against you.
40 “Now, my God, look at us. Listen to the prayers we will pray in this place.
41 Now, rise, Lord God, and come to your resting place.
Come with the Ark of the Covenant that shows your strength.
Let your priests receive your salvation, Lord God.
And may your holy people be happy because of your goodness.
42 Lord God, do not reject your appointed one.
Remember your love for your servant David.”

Discurso de Salomão na consagração do templo
(1 Rs 8.14-21)
6 Salomão dirigiu a Deus, nessa ocasião, a seguinte oração:
“O Senhor disse que habitaria na densa escuridão; 2 mas eu fiz um templo, ó Senhor, para aí manteres, para sempre, a tua presença!”
3 O rei virou-se seguidamente para o povo, que se levantou para receber a sua bênção:
4 “Bendito seja o Senhor, Deus de Israel, o Deus que falou pessoalmente ao meu pai, David, e cumpriu as promessas que lhe fez. Disse-lhe, com efeito: 5 ‘Nunca antes, desde que tirei o meu povo do Egito, tinha escolhido um local em Israel para aí construir o meu templo, um lugar onde o meu nome fosse glorificado; também nunca antes escolhera um rei para o meu povo Israel. 6 No entanto, agora escolhi Jerusalém para ali estabelecer o meu templo e David como rei.’
7 Ele quis construir um templo para o nome do Senhor, o Deus de Israel. 8 Contudo, o Senhor disse-lhe: ‘Tiveste a feliz ideia de me construir um templo, para a habitação do meu nome. 9 Mas não serás tu a construí-lo; será o filho que te há de nascer quem edificará um templo ao meu nome!’
10 O Senhor fez como prometera; eu tornei-me rei, sucedendo a meu pai, e construí este templo, tal como o Senhor disse, para o nome do Senhor, o Deus de Israel. 11 Coloquei nele a arca que contém o documento da aliança que o Senhor fez com o seu povo de Israel.”
A oração de dedicação
(1 Rs 8.22-53)
12 Seguidamente, sempre na presença de todo o povo, Salomão pôs-se diante do altar do Senhor com as mãos estendidas para os céus. 13 Salomão tinha feito uma plataforma de bronze, quadrada, com 2,5 metros de lado e 1,5 metros de altura. Depois, sob o olhar de todo o povo, ajoelhou-se e, com as mãos estendidas para os céus, formulou esta oração:
14 “Ó Senhor, Deus de Israel, não há outro Deus como tu no céu ou na Terra! Tu és misericordioso e bom, e guardas a aliança e o teu amor para com todos os que te obedecem de coração e estão desejosos de fazer a tua vontade. 15 Cumpriste as promessas que fizeste ao teu servo David, meu pai, como hoje se vê.
16 E agora, ó Senhor, Deus de Israel, cumpre igualmente o resto da promessa que lhe fizeste, que sempre haveria um herdeiro no trono de Israel, se os seus descendentes obedecessem à tua Lei, como ele fez. 17 Sim, ó Senhor, Deus de Israel, cumpre esta promessa feita ao teu servo David.
18 Será realmente possível que Deus viva na Terra com os homens? Os céus dos céus não podem conter-te! Como seria isso possível neste templo que acabo de construir? 19 Ainda assim, ó Senhor, meu Deus, ouve e responde ao meu pedido. 20 Peço-te que de noite e de dia veles sobre este templo, este lugar onde disseste que haverias de pôr o teu nome. Ouve e responde às orações que eu te fizer, quando me voltar para este lugar. 21 Ouve qualquer súplica que o povo de Israel te dirigir, sempre que se virar para este lugar para orar. Sim, ouve desde os céus onde vives e, quando ouvires, perdoa.
22 Se alguém for acusado de pecar contra alguém e se puser aqui diante do teu altar jurando que não o fez, 23 ouve desde os céus e exerce a tua justiça; condena o culpado, fazendo recair sobre ele o castigo pelo mal que praticou, e faz justiça ao inocente, recompensando-o devidamente.
24 Se o teu povo for derrotado pelos teus inimigos, por ter pecado contra ti, mas depois se arrepender e confessar que és o seu Deus, orando a ti neste templo, 25 ouve-o do céu, perdoa-lhe o seu pecado e trá-lo de novo a esta terra que deste aos seus antepassados.
26 Quando os céus se fecharem e não houver mais chuva, por causa dos nossos pecados, se orarmos neste lugar, confessando que és o nosso Deus, e nos arrependermos dos nossos pecados, depois de nos teres castigado, 27 então ouve do céu e perdoa os pecados do teu povo; ensina-lhe o que é reto e manda chuva sobre esta terra que deste ao teu povo como herança.
28 Se houver fome provocada por doenças nas plantas, por pragas de insetos ou outros bichos nocivos, se os inimigos de Israel atacarem as suas cidades, se o povo for ferido por alguma praga ou epidemia, ou por outra coisa qualquer, 29 ouve a oração e a súplica de cada um ou do teu povo de Israel que, arrependido, levanta as mãos em oração voltado para esta casa. 30 Ouve desde o céu, onde vives, e perdoa; trata cada um conforme as suas ações, pois conheces o coração de todos os homens. 31 Desta maneira, aprenderão a temer-te sempre e a andarem nos teus caminhos, enquanto viverem nesta terra que deste aos seus antepassados.
32 Quando estrangeiros ouvirem falar do teu grande nome e do teu forte braço, e vierem de terras distantes para prestar culto ao teu grande nome, se orarem voltados para este templo, 33 escuta-os, desde o céu onde estás, e responde ao que pedirem. Então todos os povos da Terra se darão conta da grandeza do nosso Deus e o adorarão, como faz o povo de Israel; também eles saberão que este templo que mandei construir é o teu templo.
34 Se o teu povo sair, para onde quer que tu os envies à guerra, para combater os seus inimigos e orar a ti voltando-se para esta cidade que tu escolheste e para este templo que edifiquei ao teu nome, 35 ouve as suas orações desde o céu e dá-lhe a vitória.
36 Se pecarem contra ti, e não há ser humano que não peque, e te indignares contra eles, se permitires que os seus inimigos os derrotem e os levem cativos para países estrangeiros, longe ou perto, 37 e se nessa terra de exílio se converterem a ti e se virarem para esta terra que deste aos seus antepassados, para esta cidade de Jerusalém e para este teu templo que mandei construir e disserem: ‘Pecámos, procedemos perversamente e praticámos o mal’, 38 e se ali orarem e te rogarem perdão com toda a sua alma, voltados para a terra que deste aos seus antepassados, para a cidade que escolheste e a casa que edifiquei ao teu nome, 39 então perdoa-lhes, responde-lhes do céu, onde vives, e socorre-os, perdoando o teu povo que pecou contra ti.
40 Sim, ó meu Deus, pedimos-te que estejas sempre atento e pronto a responder a todas as orações que te forem feitas neste lugar.
41 Levanta-te, Senhor Deus, e entra no teu templo, lugar do teu repouso,
juntamente com a arca que é a expressão do teu poder.
Os sacerdotes hão de vestir-se de salvação
e todo o teu povo se encherá de alegria.
42 Senhor Deus, não me abandones!
