21 Y DURMIO Josaphat con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.
2 Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josaphat, á Azarías, Jehiel, Zachârías, Azarías, Michâel, y Sephatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josaphat rey de Israel.
3 Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino á Joram, porque él era el primogénito.
4 Fué pues elevado Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató á cuchillo á todos sus hermanos, y asimismo algunos de los príncipes de Israel.
5 Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalem.
6 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Achâb; porque tenía por mujer la hija de Achâb, é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová.
7 Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, á causa de la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara á él y á sus hijos perpetuamente.
8 En los días de éste se rebeló la Idumea, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.
9 Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y levantóse de noche, é hirió á los Idumeos que le habían cercado, y á todos los comandantes de sus carros.
10 Con todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
11 Demás de esto hizo altos en los montes de Judá, é hizo que los moradores de Jerusalem fornicasen, y á ello impelió á Judá.
12 Y viniéronle letras del profeta Elías, que decían: Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josaphat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,
13 Antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalem, como fornicó la casa de Achâb; y además has muerto á tus hermanos, á la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú:
14 He aquí Jehová herirá tu pueblo de una grande plaga, y á tus hijos y á tus mujeres, y á toda tu hacienda;
15 Y á ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan á causa de la enfermedad de cada día.
16 Entonces despertó Jehová contra Joram el espíritu de los Filisteos, y de los Arabes que estaban junto á los Etiopes;
17 Y subieron contra Judá, é invadieron la tierra, y tomaron toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, y á sus hijos, y á sus mujeres; que no le quedó hijo, sino Joachâz el menor de sus hijos.
18 Después de todo esto Jehová lo hirió en las entrañas de una enfermedad incurable.
19 Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron con la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho á sus padres.
20 Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalem ocho años; y fuése sin ser deseado. Y sepultáronlo en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

21 Nang mamatay si Jehoshafat, inilibing siya sa libingan ng mga ninuno niya sa Lungsod ni David. At ang anak niyang si Jehoram ang pumalit sa kanya bilang hari. 2 Ang mga kapatid ni Jehoram ay sina Azaria, Jehiel, Zacarias, Azariahu, Micael, at Shefatia. Silang lahat ang anak ni Haring Jehoshafat ng Juda.[a] 3 Binigyan sila ni Jehoshafat ng maraming regalo na pilak at ginto, mahahalagang bagay at mga napapaderang lungsod sa Juda. Pero si Jehoram ang kanyang ipinalit bilang hari dahil siya ang panganay.
Ang Paghahari ni Jehoram sa Juda(A)
4 Nang matatag na ang paghahari ni Jehoram sa kaharian ng kanyang ama, ipinapatay niya ang lahat ng kanyang kapatid, pati ang ibang mga opisyal ng Juda.[b] 5 Si Jehoram ay 32 taong gulang nang maging hari. Sa Jerusalem siya tumira, at naghari siya roon sa loob ng walong taon. 6 Sumunod siya sa pamumuhay ng mga hari ng Israel, gaya ng ginawa ng sambahayan ni Ahab, dahil ang kanyang napangasawa ay anak ni Ahab. Masama ang ginawa niya sa paningin ng Panginoon. 7 Pero dahil sa kasunduan ng Panginoon kay David, hindi niya nilipol ang angkan ni David. Nangako siya kay David na hindi mawawalan si David ng angkan na maghahari magpakailanman.[c]
8 Nang panahon ng paghahari ni Jehoram, nagrebelde ang Edom sa Juda, at pumili sila ng sarili nilang hari. 9 Kaya pumunta si Jehoram at ang kanyang mga opisyal sa Edom dala ang lahat niyang karwahe. Pinalibutan siya at ang kumander ng kanyang mga mangangarwahe ng mga taga-Edom, pero kinagabihan sinalakay nila ang mga Edomita, at nakatakas sila. 10 Hanggang ngayon, nagrerebelde pa rin ang Edom sa Juda.
Sa panahon ding iyon, nagrebelde rin ang Libna sa Juda, dahil itinakwil ni Jehoram ang Panginoon, ang Dios ng kanyang mga ninuno. 11 Nagpatayo siya ng mga sambahan sa mga bulubundukin ng Juda na siyang dahilan ng pagsamba ng mga taga-Jerusalem at taga-Juda sa mga dios-diosan.
12 Pinadalhan ni Propeta Elias si Jehoram ng sulat na nagsasabi:
“Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon, ang Dios ng iyong ninunong si David: Hindi mo sinunod ang pamumuhay ng iyong amang si Jehoshafat o ng iyong lolo na si Asa na naging hari rin ng Juda. 13 Sa halip, sinunod mo ang pamumuhay ng mga hari ng Israel. Hinikayat mo ang mga taga-Juda at mga taga-Jerusalem sa pagsamba sa mga dios-diosan gaya ng ginawa ni Ahab. Pinatay mo rin ang iyong sariling mga kapatid na mas mahusay pa sa iyo. 14 Kaya ngayon parurusahan ka ng Panginoon, ikaw at ang iyong mamamayan, mga anak, mga asawa at ang lahat ng iyong ari-arian. Matinding parusa ang ipapadala niya sa inyo. 15 Ikaw mismo ay magtitiis ng malubhang karamdaman sa tiyan, hanggang sa lumabas ang iyong bituka.”
16 Pagkatapos, pinalusob ng Panginoon laban kay Jehoram ang mga Filisteo at ang mga Arabo, na nakatira malapit sa Etiopia. 17 Nilusob nila ang Juda at sinakop, at sinamsam ang mga ari-arian sa palasyo ng hari, pati ang kanyang mga asawaʼt anak. Ang bunso lang niyang anak na si Ahazia[d] ang hindi nadala.
18 Pagkatapos noon, pinahirapan ng Panginoon si Jehoram ng karamdaman sa tiyan na walang kagalingan.
19 At pagkalipas ng dalawang taon, lumabas ang kanyang bituka dahil sa karamdaman, at namatay siya sa sobrang sakit. Hindi nagsindi ng apoy ang kanyang mamamayan sa pagpaparangal sa kanya, tulad ng kanilang ginawa sa kanyang mga ninuno. 20 Si Jehoram ay 32 taong gulang nang maging hari. Sa Jerusalem siya tumira, at naghari siya roon sa loob ng walong taon. Nang mamatay siya, walang nagluksa sa kanya. Inilibing siya sa Lungsod ni David, pero hindi sa libingan ng mga hari.

21 Josaphat rejoignit ses ancêtres décédés, et il fut enseveli auprès d’eux dans la Cité de David, et son fils Yoram lui succéda sur le trône.
Yoram, roi de Juda
2 Yoram avait plusieurs frères : Azaria, Yehiel, Zacharie, Azaria, Michaël et Shephatia, tous fils de Josaphat, roi d’Israël. 3 Leur père leur avait fait de nombreux cadeaux, de l’argent, de l’or et des objets précieux ; de plus, il leur avait confié le gouvernement de plusieurs villes fortifiées en Juda ; mais c’est à Yoram qu’il avait conféré la royauté parce qu’il était l’aîné.
4 Dès que Yoram fut en possession du royaume de son père et qu’il eut affermi son pouvoir, il fit assassiner tous ses frères ainsi que des dirigeants d’Israël.

5 Yoram avait trente-deux ans à son avènement et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem[a]. 6 Il suivit l’exemple des rois d’Israël[b], agissant comme la dynastie d’Achab, car il avait épousé une fille d’Achab[c]. Il fit ce que l’Eternel considère comme mal. 7 Pourtant, l’Eternel ne voulut pas détruire la dynastie de David, à cause de l’alliance qu’il avait conclue avec David à qui il avait promis que ses descendants régneraient pour toujours[d].
8 Sous le règne de Yoram, les Edomites se révoltèrent contre la domination de Juda et se donnèrent un roi[e]. 9 Alors Yoram partit avec ses officiers et tous ses chars de guerre. En pleine nuit, il tomba sur les Edomites qui l’avaient déjà encerclé et il les battit, ainsi que les chefs des chars. 10 Depuis lors, Edom fut en révolte contre Juda, et l’est toujours. A la même époque, Libna se révolta également contre la domination de Yoram parce qu’il avait abandonné l’Eternel, le Dieu de ses ancêtres.
11 Il construisit même des hauts lieux sur les montagnes de Juda : il incita les habitants de Jérusalem à l’idolâtrie et entraîna les Judéens au mal. 12 C’est alors qu’une lettre du prophète Elie lui parvint. Elle disait : Voici ce que déclare l’Eternel, le Dieu de David, ton ancêtre : « Tu n’as pas suivi l’exemple de ton père Josaphat, et celui d’Asa, roi de Juda. 13 Au contraire, tu as imité la conduite des rois d’Israël ; tu as incité les Judéens et les habitants de Jérusalem à l’idolâtrie, suivant l’exemple d’idolâtrie de la maison d’Achab. Tu es même allé jusqu’à assassiner tes frères, membres de ta famille, qui étaient meilleurs que toi. 14 C’est pourquoi l’Eternel frappera d’un terrible fléau ton peuple, tes fils, tes femmes et tous tes biens. 15 Quant à toi, tu seras atteint de maladies graves, et en particulier d’une maladie au ventre qui empirera de jour en jour au point de faire sortir tes intestins hors de ton ventre. »
16 L’Eternel excita contre Yoram l’hostilité des Philistins et des Arabes voisins des Ethiopiens. 17 Ils attaquèrent Juda, envahirent le pays, emportèrent toutes les richesses accumulées dans le palais du roi et emmenèrent ses fils et ses femmes en captivité, de sorte qu’il ne lui resta plus qu’un fils, Yoahaz, le cadet.
18 Après tout cela, l’Eternel frappa Yoram d’une maladie intestinale incurable. 19 Elle empira de jour en jour, et vers la fin de la seconde année, le mal fit sortir ses intestins de son ventre, de sorte qu’il mourut dans d’atroces souffrances. Le peuple n’alluma pas de brasier en son honneur comme il l’avait fait pour ses ancêtres[f].
20 Yoram avait trente-deux ans à son avènement et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem[g]. Il partit sans être regretté par personne. On l’enterra dans la Cité de David, mais pas dans les tombeaux des rois.

21 Then Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Jehoram(A) his son succeeded him as king. 2 Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael and Shephatiah. All these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.[a] 3 Their father had given them many gifts(B) of silver and gold and articles of value, as well as fortified cities(C) in Judah, but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his firstborn son.

4 When Jehoram established(E) himself firmly over his father’s kingdom, he put all his brothers(F) to the sword along with some of the officials of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. 6 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel,(G) as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab.(H) He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. 7 Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David,(I) the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David.(J) He had promised to maintain a lamp(K) for him and his descendants forever.
8 In the time of Jehoram, Edom(L) rebelled against Judah and set up its own king. 9 So Jehoram went there with his officers and all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night. 10 To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah.
Libnah(M) revolted at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the Lord, the God of his ancestors. 11 He had also built high places on the hills of Judah and had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.
12 Jehoram received a letter from Elijah(N) the prophet, which said:
“This is what the Lord, the God of your father(O) David, says: ‘You have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa(P) king of Judah. 13 But you have followed the ways of the kings of Israel, and you have led Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab did.(Q) You have also murdered your own brothers, members of your own family, men who were better(R) than you. 14 So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow. 15 You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease(S) of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.’”
16 The Lord aroused against Jehoram the hostility of the Philistines and of the Arabs(T) who lived near the Cushites. 17 They attacked Judah, invaded it and carried off all the goods found in the king’s palace, together with his sons and wives. Not a son was left to him except Ahaziah,[b] the youngest.(U)
18 After all this, the Lord afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels. 19 In the course of time, at the end of the second year, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great pain. His people made no funeral fire in his honor,(V) as they had for his predecessors.
20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried(W) in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
