预备建圣殿

2 所罗门决定为耶和华的名建造殿宇，也为自己兴建王宫。

2 他征用七万名搬运工、八万名在山上凿石的匠人、三千六百名监工， 3 并派人去见泰尔王希兰，说：“你曾运香柏木给我父亲建造王宫，请你也照样帮助我。 4 现在，我要为我的上帝耶和华的名建一座殿，我要把殿献给祂，在祂面前烧芬芳的香，经常献上供饼，在每天早晚、安息日、朔日[a]及我们的上帝耶和华所定的节期献上燔祭。这是以色列人应当永远遵守的定例。 5 我要建造的殿宇极其宏伟，因为我们的上帝超越一切神明。 6 诸天尚且容纳不下祂，谁能为祂建造殿宇呢？我是谁，怎能为祂建造殿宇？我不过是建个向祂烧香的地方。 7 现在，请你派一位巧匠来，他要懂得雕刻，会用金银铜铁铸造物品，会编织紫色、朱红色和蓝色的布，好与我父大卫在犹大和耶路撒冷所预备的巧匠一起工作。 8 也请你从黎巴嫩运些香柏木、松木和檀香木来，因为我知道你的仆人擅长砍伐黎巴嫩的树木。我会派人与你的仆人一起工作。 9 我要建的殿宇非常宏伟，所以需要的木料非常多。 10 我会供给你的伐木工人四百四十万升小麦、四百四十万升大麦、四十四万升酒和四十四万升油。”

11 泰尔王希兰写信给所罗门说：“耶和华爱祂的子民，所以立你做他们的王。 12 创造天地的以色列的上帝耶和华当受称颂！祂赐给大卫王一个有智慧、谋略和悟性的儿子来为耶和华建殿，也为他自己建造王宫。 13 现在，我派聪明能干的巧匠户兰去你那里。 14 他的母亲是但支派的人，父亲是泰尔人。他精于雕刻和设计，善用金银铜铁和木石制造物品，又会编织紫色、蓝色、朱红色的布和细麻布。你可以让他与你的工匠和你父亲大卫的工匠一起工作。 15 现在，请我主把许诺的小麦、大麦、油和酒运给仆人。 16 我们会在黎巴嫩砍伐你需要的木材，扎成木筏，经海道运到约帕，你可以从那里将木材转运到耶路撒冷。”

17 所罗门依照他父亲大卫的方法，统计所有寄居在以色列的外族人，共有十五万三千六百人。 18 他指派其中的七万人做搬运工，八万人在山上采凿石头，三千六百人做监工。

Sô-lô-môn chuẩn bị cất đền thờ và cung điện

2 Sô-lô-môn quyết định cất đền thờ để dùng làm nơi thờ phụng CHÚA và cũng cất một cung điện cho mình. 2 Ông chọn bảy mươi ngàn người khuân vác, tám mươi ngàn người đục đá trong núi, và ba ngàn sáu trăm đốc công.

3 Sô-lô-môn gởi thơ cho Hi-ram vua thành Tia như sau: “Xin vua hãy giúp tôi như đã giúp cha tôi là Đa-vít bằng cách gởi gỗ hương nam cho cha tôi cất cung điện người. 4 Tôi sẽ xây một ngôi đền để thờ phụng CHÚA là Thượng Đế tôi, và tôi sẽ dâng đền thờ đó cho Ngài. Rồi chúng tôi sẽ đốt hương trước mặt Ngài. Chúng tôi sẽ luôn luôn bày bánh thánh trước sự hiện diện của Thượng Đế. Chúng tôi sẽ dâng của lễ thiêu mỗi sáng mỗi chiều, vào những ngày Sa bát, ngày Trăng Mới, và những lễ đặc biệt khác mà CHÚA là Thượng Đế chúng tôi truyền dặn. Đó là luật lệ đời đời cho toàn dân Ít-ra-en vâng theo.

5 Đền thờ tôi xây sẽ rất lớn vì Thượng Đế chúng tôi lớn hơn tất cả các thần. 6 Nhưng thật ra không ai có thể xây nhà cho Thượng Đế chúng tôi. Dù cho các từng trời cao vút cũng không chứa nổi Ngài. Làm sao tôi có thể xây đền thờ cho Ngài? Nơi đó chỉ có thể dùng làm chỗ dâng của lễ thiêu cho Ngài mà thôi.

7 Bây giờ xin vua hãy gởi cho tôi một thợ khéo làm vàng, bạc, đồng, và sắt cùng với chỉ tím, đỏ, và xanh. Người đó cũng phải biết chạm trổ nữa. Anh ta sẽ làm việc chung với các thợ khéo của tôi ở Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem, những người mà Đa-vít cha tôi đã chọn. 8 Ngoài ra xin vua gởi cho tôi gỗ hương nam, gỗ thông, và gỗ bạch đàn [a] từ Li-băng. Tôi biết các tôi tớ vua có kinh nghiệm đốn gỗ ở Li-băng, nên các tôi tớ tôi sẽ giúp họ. 9 Xin hãy gởi cho tôi thật nhiều gỗ vì đền thờ mà tôi sắp xây sẽ lớn rộng và nguy nga. 10 Tôi sẽ cung cấp cho các tôi tớ vua, những người đốn gỗ, 125.000 hộc [b] lúa mì, 125.000 hộc lúa mạch, 440.000 lít [c] rượu, và 440.000 lít dầu.”

11 Hi-ram, vua Tia, viết thư trả lời Sô-lô-môn như sau: “Kính vua Sô-lô-môn, vì CHÚA yêu dân Ngài nên Ngài đã chọn vua làm vua trên họ.” 12 Hi-ram cũng viết thêm: “Đáng ca ngợi CHÚA, Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en, Đấng tạo nên trời và đất! Ngài ban cho vua Đa-vít một con trai khôn ngoan, một người đầy thông minh và hiểu biết, là người sẽ xây đền thờ cho CHÚA và cung điện cho mình. 13 Tôi sẽ gởi đến cho vua một tay thợ khéo [d] và khôn ngoan tên Hu-ram A-bi. 14 Mẹ anh gốc dân Đan, cha anh gốc thành Tia. Hu-ram A-bi có tài làm các đồ vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, đá, và gỗ, cùng với chỉ tím, xanh, đỏ cùng vải đắt tiền. Anh có tài chạm trổ và có thể khắc những kiểu nào vua chỉ. Anh sẽ giúp các thợ khéo của vua cùng thợ của Đa-vít, cha vua.

15 Bây giờ xin vua hãy gởi cho các tôi tớ tôi lúa mì, lúa mạch, dầu và rượu như vua hứa. 16 Chúng tôi sẽ đốn gỗ thật nhiều từ Li-băng dọc theo biển theo như vua cần rồi thả bè trôi xuống Giốp-ba. Sau đó vua sẽ mang về Giê-ru-sa-lem.”

17 Sô-lô-môn kiểm kê tất cả các ngoại kiều đang sống trong xứ Ít-ra-en. Đó là sau khi Đa-vít, cha vua đã kiểm kê toàn thể dân chúng. Trong toàn xứ có tất cả 153.600 ngoại kiều. 18 Sô-lô-môn chọn bảy mươi ngàn người trong vòng họ để khuân vác, tám mươi ngàn người để đục đá trong núi, và ba ngàn sáu trăm người làm đốc công.

Preparations for Building the Temple(A)

2 [a]Solomon gave orders to build a temple(B) for the Name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself.(C) 2 He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them.(D)

3 Solomon sent this message to Hiram[b](E) king of Tyre:

“Send me cedar logs(F) as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in. 4 Now I am about to build a temple(G) for the Name of the Lord my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense(H) before him, for setting out the consecrated bread(I) regularly, and for making burnt offerings(J) every morning and evening and on the Sabbaths,(K) at the New Moons(L) and at the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.

5 “The temple I am going to build will be great,(M) because our God is greater than all other gods.(N) 6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him?(O) Who then am I(P) to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?

7 “Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers,(Q) whom my father David provided.

8 “Send me also cedar, juniper and algum[c] logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants are skilled in cutting timber there. My servants will work with yours 9 to provide me with plenty of lumber, because the temple I build must be large and magnificent. 10 I will give your servants, the woodsmen who cut the timber, twenty thousand cors[d] of ground wheat, twenty thousand cors[e] of barley, twenty thousand baths[f] of wine and twenty thousand baths of olive oil.(R)”

11 Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon:

“Because the Lord loves(S) his people, he has made you their king.”

12 And Hiram added:

“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth!(T) He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the Lord and a palace for himself.

13 “I am sending you Huram-Abi,(U) a man of great skill, 14 whose mother was from Dan(V) and whose father was from Tyre. He is trained(W) to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, and with purple and blue(X) and crimson yarn and fine linen. He is experienced in all kinds of engraving and can execute any design given to him. He will work with your skilled workers and with those of my lord, David your father.

15 “Now let my lord send his servants the wheat and barley and the olive oil(Y) and wine he promised, 16 and we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them as rafts by sea down to Joppa.(Z) You can then take them up to Jerusalem.”

17 Solomon took a census of all the foreigners(AA) residing in Israel, after the census(AB) his father David had taken; and they were found to be 153,600. 18 He assigned(AC) 70,000 of them to be carriers and 80,000 to be stonecutters in the hills, with 3,600 foremen over them to keep the people working.
