亚撒作犹大王(A)
14 亚比雅和他的列祖同睡，埋葬在大卫城里，他的儿子亚撒接续他作王。亚撒在世的日子，国中太平了十年。（本节在《马索拉文本》为13:23）
2 亚撒行耶和华他的 神看为善为正的事。（本节在《马索拉文本》为14:1） 3 他除掉外族人的祭坛和邱坛，打断神柱，砍下亚舍拉， 4 吩咐犹大人寻求耶和华他们列祖的 神，遵行他的律法和诫命。 5 他又在犹大各城中，除掉邱坛和香坛。那时全国在他的统治下享受太平。 6 他又在犹大建造了几座设防城，因为国中太平，多年没有战争，耶和华使他享受安宁。 7 他对犹大人说：“我们要建造这些城，在四周筑墙，建造城楼，安设城门，制作门闩。这地还属于我们，是因为我们寻求耶和华我们的 神；我们既然寻求他，他就使我们四境平安。”于是他们兴工建造，事事顺利。 8 亚撒的军队，拿大盾牌和矛枪的犹大人，共有三十万；拿小盾牌和拉弓的便雅悯人，共有二十八万；他们都是英勇的战士。

9 那时有古实人谢拉率领一百万军队，战车三百辆，前来攻打犹大人；他来到了玛利沙。 10 于是亚撒出去迎战；他们就在玛利沙的洗法谷列阵相对。 11 亚撒呼求耶和华他的 神说：“耶和华啊，强弱悬殊，除你以外没有别的帮助。耶和华我们的 神啊，求你帮助我们。因为我们倚靠你，奉你的名去对抗这大军。耶和华啊，你是我们的 神，不要让人胜过你。” 12 于是耶和华在亚撒和犹大人面前，使古实人大败，古实人就逃跑。 13 亚撒和跟随他的人民追赶他们，直到基拉耳；古实人被杀的很多，不能恢复强盛；因为他们在耶和华和他的军队面前被击溃了；犹大人夺取了极多战利品。 14 他们又攻击基拉耳周围的一切城市，因为各城的人都惧怕耶和华。犹大人又把各城洗掠一空，因为城中的财物甚多。 15 他们又毁坏了牲畜的棚，牵走了很多的羊和骆驼，然后回耶路撒冷去了。

14 Y durmió Abías con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar su hijo Asa, en cuyos días reposó la tierra diez años.
2 E hizo Asa lo bueno y lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR su Dios.
3 Porque quitó los altares de los dioses ajenos, y los lugares altos; quebró las imágenes, y taló los bosques;
4 y mandó a Judá que buscaran al SEÑOR, el Dios de sus padres, y cumplieran la ley y los mandamientos.
5 Quitó asimismo de todas las ciudades de Judá los lugares altos y las imágenes, y el reino tuvo reposo delante de él.
6 Y edificó ciudades fuertes en Judá, por cuanto hubo reposo en la tierra, y no había guerra contra él en aquellos tiempos; porque el SEÑOR le había dado reposo.
7 Dijo, por tanto, a Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros con torres, puertas y barras, ya que la tierra es nuestra; porque hemos buscado al SEÑOR nuestro Dios, le hemos buscado, y él nos ha dado reposo de todas partes. Edificaron pues, y fueron prosperados.
8 Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas; de Judá trescientos mil, y de Benjamín doscientos ochenta mil que traían escudos y flechaban arcos; todos hombres diestros.
9 ¶ Y salió contra ellos Zera, el etíope con un ejército de mil millares, y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa.
10 Pero Asa salió contra él, y ordenaron la batalla en el valle de Sefata junto a Maresa.
11 Y clamó Asa al SEÑOR su Dios, y dijo: SEÑOR, no tienes tú más con el grande que con el que ninguna fuerza tiene, para dar ayuda. Ayúdanos, oh SEÑOR Dios nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu Nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh SEÑOR, tú eres nuestro Dios; no prevalezca contra ti el hombre.
12 Y el SEÑOR deshizo a los etíopes delante de Asa y delante de Judá; y huyeron los etíopes.
13 Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, los siguió hasta Gerar; y cayeron los etíopes hasta no quedar en ellos hombre con vida; porque fueron deshechos delante del SEÑOR y de su ejército. Y les tomaron muy grande despojo.
14 E hirieron todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror del SEÑOR era sobre ellos; y saquearon todas las ciudades, porque había en ellas gran despojo.
15 Asimismo dieron sobre las cabañas de los ganados, y trajeron muchas ovejas y camellos, y volvieron a Jerusalén.

14 [a]And Abijah rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king, and in his days the country was at peace for ten years.
Asa King of Judah(A)
2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God.(B) 3 He removed the foreign altars(C) and the high places, smashed the sacred stones(D) and cut down the Asherah poles.[b](E) 4 He commanded Judah to seek the Lord,(F) the God of their ancestors, and to obey his laws and commands. 5 He removed the high places(G) and incense altars(H) in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him. 6 He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the Lord gave him rest.(I)
7 “Let us build up these towns,” he said to Judah, “and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we sought him and he has given us rest(J) on every side.” So they built and prospered.
8 Asa had an army of three hundred thousand(K) men from Judah, equipped with large shields and with spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin, armed with small shields and with bows. All these were brave fighting men.
9 Zerah the Cushite(L) marched out against them with an army of thousands upon thousands and three hundred chariots, and came as far as Mareshah.(M) 10 Asa went out to meet him, and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
11 Then Asa called(N) to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us,(O) Lord our God, for we rely(P) on you, and in your name(Q) we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail(R) against you.”
12 The Lord struck down(S) the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled, 13 and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar.(T) Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed(U) before the Lord and his forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder.(V) 14 They destroyed all the villages around Gerar, for the terror(W) of the Lord had fallen on them. They looted all these villages, since there was much plunder there. 15 They also attacked the camps of the herders and carried off droves of sheep and goats and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.

2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. 3 He took down the foreign altars and high places, and he shattered the pillars and cut down the images of Asherah. 4 Then he urged Judah to seek the Lord the God of their fathers and to keep the law and commandments. 5 And he also removed all the high places and incense altars in the cities in Judah. And the kingdom was at rest under Asa. 6 He built fortified cities in Judah because the land was quiet; and there was no war in these years, for the Lord gave peace to him.
7 And he said to Judah, “Let us build up these cities and let us surround them with walls, towers, gates, and bars for the land before us is still ours because we have sought after the Lord our God. We have sought Him, and He has given us peace all around.” So they built and had success.
8 And it happened that Asa had an army from Judah carrying large shields and spears numbering three hundred thousand. And from Benjamin he had an army carrying shields and bows numbering two hundred eighty thousand. All of these were mighty men of valor.
9 But Zerah the Ethiopian Cushite came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots. And he came up to Mareshah. 10 Then Asa went out to engage him, and they arranged for battle in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
11 And Asa cried out the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing with You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, O Lord our God; for we trust in You, and in Your name we come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God. Let no man prevail against You.”
12 So the Lord struck down the Ethiopian Cushites before Asa and Judah, and the Cushites fled. 13 Then Asa and those with him pursued them until Gerar. And the Cushites fell till there was not one left alive because they were struck down before the Lord and His army. And those in Judah carried off a very great plunder. 14 And they struck down all the cities surrounding Gerar because the terror of the Lord was on them. And they plundered all the cities because there was a great amount of possessions in them. 15 And they also struck the tents holding livestock, and they carried off sheep and a great amount of camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.
