Ofrendas para el templo
29 El rey David le dijo a toda la asamblea: «Dios ha escogido a mi hijo Salomón, pero para una obra de esta magnitud todavía le falta experiencia. El palacio no es para un hombre, sino para Dios el Señor. 2 Con mucho esfuerzo he hecho los preparativos para el templo de Dios. He conseguido oro para los objetos de oro, plata para los de plata, bronce para los de bronce, hierro para los de hierro, madera para los de madera, y piedras de ónice, piedras de engaste, piedras talladas de diversos colores, piedras preciosas de toda clase, y mármol en abundancia. 3 Además, aparte de lo que ya he conseguido, por amor al templo de mi Dios entrego para su templo todo el oro y la plata que poseo: 4 cien mil kilos de oro de Ofir y doscientos treinta mil kilos de plata[a] finísima, para recubrir las paredes de los edificios, 5 para todos los objetos de oro y de plata, y para toda clase de trabajo que hagan los orfebres. ¿Quién de vosotros quiere hoy dar una ofrenda al Señor?»
6 Entonces los jefes de familia, los jefes de las tribus de Israel, los jefes de mil y de cien soldados, y los encargados de las obras del rey hicieron sus ofrendas voluntarias. 7 Donaron para las obras del templo de Dios ciento sesenta y cinco mil kilos y diez mil monedas de oro, trescientos treinta mil kilos de plata, y alrededor de seiscientos mil kilos de bronce y tres millones trescientos mil kilos de hierro.[b] 8 Los que tenían piedras preciosas las entregaron a Jehiel el guersonita para el tesoro del templo del Señor. 9 El pueblo estaba muy contento de poder dar voluntariamente[c] sus ofrendas al Señor, y también el rey David se sentía muy feliz.
Oración de David
10 Entonces David bendijo así al Señor en presencia de toda la asamblea:
«¡Bendito seas, Señor,
Dios de nuestro padre Israel,
desde siempre y para siempre!
11 Tuyos son, Señor,
la grandeza y el poder,
la gloria, la victoria y la majestad.
Tuyo es todo cuanto hay
en el cielo y en la tierra.
Tuyo también es el reino,
y tú estás por encima de todo.
12 De ti proceden la riqueza y el honor;
tú lo gobiernas todo.
En tus manos están la fuerza y el poder,
y eres tú quien engrandece y fortalece a todos.
13 Por eso, Dios nuestro, te damos gracias,
y a tu glorioso nombre tributamos alabanzas.
14 »Pero ¿quién soy yo, y quién es mi pueblo, para que podamos darte estas ofrendas voluntarias? En verdad, tú eres el dueño de todo, y lo que te hemos dado, de ti lo hemos recibido. 15 Ante ti, somos extranjeros y peregrinos, como lo fueron nuestros antepasados. Nuestros días sobre la tierra son solo una sombra sin esperanza. 16 Señor y Dios nuestro, de ti procede todo cuanto hemos conseguido para construir un templo a tu santo nombre. ¡Todo es tuyo! 17 Yo sé, mi Dios, que tú pruebas los corazones y amas la rectitud. Por eso, con rectitud de corazón te he ofrecido voluntariamente todas estas cosas, y he visto con júbilo que tu pueblo, aquí presente, te ha traído sus ofrendas. 18 Señor, Dios de nuestros antepasados Abraham, Isaac e Israel, conserva por siempre estos pensamientos en el corazón de tu pueblo, y dirige su corazón hacia ti. 19 Dale también a mi hijo Salomón un corazón íntegro, para que obedezca y ponga en práctica tus mandamientos, preceptos y leyes. Permítele construir el templo para el cual he hecho esta provisión».
20 Luego David animó a toda la asamblea: «¡Alabad al Señor vuestro Dios!» Entonces toda la asamblea alabó al Señor, Dios de sus antepasados, y se inclinó ante el Señor y ante el rey.
Coronación de Salomón(A)
21 Al día siguiente, ofrecieron sacrificios y holocaustos al Señor por todo Israel: mil becerros, mil carneros y mil corderos, con sus respectivas libaciones, y numerosos sacrificios. 22 Ese día comieron y bebieron con gran regocijo en presencia del Señor.
Luego, por segunda vez, proclamaron como rey a Salomón hijo de David, y lo consagraron ante el Señor como rey, y a Sadoc lo ungieron como sacerdote. 23 Y Salomón sucedió en el trono del Señor a su padre David, y tuvo éxito. Todo Israel le obedeció. 24 Todos los jefes, los guerreros y los hijos del rey David rindieron pleitesía al rey Salomón.
25 El Señor engrandeció en extremo a Salomón ante todo Israel, y le otorgó un reinado glorioso, como jamás lo tuvo ninguno de los reyes de Israel.
Muerte de David(B)
26 David hijo de Isaí reinó sobre todo Israel. 27 En total, reinó cuarenta años sobre Israel: siete años reinó en Hebrón, y treinta y tres en Jerusalén. 28 Y murió muy anciano y entrado en años, en medio de grandes honores y riquezas, y su hijo Salomón le sucedió en el trono.
29-30 Todos los hechos del rey David, desde el primero hasta el último, y lo que tiene que ver con su reinado y su poder, y lo que les sucedió a él, a Israel y a los pueblos vecinos, están escritos en las crónicas del vidente Samuel, del profeta Natán y del vidente Gad.

29 Después dijo el rey David a toda la asamblea: Solamente a Salomón mi hijo ha elegido Dios; él es joven y tierno de edad, y la obra grande; porque la casa no es para hombre, sino para Jehová Dios. 2 Yo con todas mis fuerzas he preparado para la casa de mi Dios, oro para las cosas de oro, plata para las cosas de plata, bronce para las de bronce, hierro para las de hierro, y madera para las de madera; y piedras de ónice, piedras preciosas, piedras negras, piedras de diversos colores, y toda clase de piedras preciosas, y piedras de mármol en abundancia.(A) 3 Además de esto, por cuanto tengo mi afecto en la casa de mi Dios, yo guardo en mi tesoro particular oro y plata que, además de todas las cosas que he preparado para la casa del santuario, he dado para la casa de mi Dios: 4 tres mil talentos de oro, de oro de Ofir, y siete mil talentos de plata refinada para cubrir las paredes de las casas; 5 oro, pues, para las cosas de oro, y plata para las cosas de plata, y para toda la obra de las manos de los artífices. ¿Y quién quiere hacer hoy ofrenda voluntaria a Jehová?
6 Entonces los jefes de familia, y los príncipes de las tribus de Israel, jefes de millares y de centenas, con los administradores de la hacienda del rey, ofrecieron voluntariamente. 7 Y dieron para el servicio de la casa de Dios cinco mil talentos y diez mil dracmas de oro, diez mil talentos de plata, dieciocho mil talentos de bronce, y cinco mil talentos de hierro. 8 Y todo el que tenía piedras preciosas las dio para el tesoro de la casa de Jehová, en mano de Jehiel gersonita. 9 Y se alegró el pueblo por haber contribuido voluntariamente; porque de todo corazón ofrecieron a Jehová voluntariamente.
10 Asimismo se alegró mucho el rey David, y bendijo a Jehová delante de toda la congregación; y dijo David: Bendito seas tú, oh Jehová, Dios de Israel nuestro padre, desde el siglo y hasta el siglo. 11 Tuya es, oh Jehová, la magnificencia y el poder, la gloria, la victoria y el honor; porque todas las cosas que están en los cielos y en la tierra son tuyas. Tuyo, oh Jehová, es el reino,(B) y tú eres excelso sobre todos. 12 Las riquezas y la gloria proceden de ti, y tú dominas sobre todo; en tu mano está la fuerza y el poder, y en tu mano el hacer grande y el dar poder a todos. 13 Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, nosotros alabamos y loamos tu glorioso nombre.
14 Porque ¿quién soy yo, y quién es mi pueblo, para que pudiésemos ofrecer voluntariamente cosas semejantes? Pues todo es tuyo, y de lo recibido de tu mano te damos. 15 Porque nosotros, extranjeros y advenedizos somos delante de ti, como todos nuestros padres; y nuestros días sobre la tierra, cual sombra que no dura. 16 Oh Jehová Dios nuestro, toda esta abundancia que hemos preparado para edificar casa a tu santo nombre, de tu mano es, y todo es tuyo. 17 Yo sé, Dios mío, que tú escudriñas los corazones, y que la rectitud te agrada; por eso yo con rectitud de mi corazón voluntariamente te he ofrecido todo esto, y ahora he visto con alegría que tu pueblo, reunido aquí ahora, ha dado para ti espontáneamente. 18 Jehová, Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Israel nuestros padres, conserva perpetuamente esta voluntad del corazón de tu pueblo, y encamina su corazón a ti. 19 Asimismo da a mi hijo Salomón corazón perfecto, para que guarde tus mandamientos, tus testimonios y tus estatutos, y para que haga todas las cosas, y te edifique la casa para la cual yo he hecho preparativos.
20 Después dijo David a toda la congregación: Bendecid ahora a Jehová vuestro Dios. Entonces toda la congregación bendijo a Jehová Dios de sus padres, e inclinándose adoraron delante de Jehová y del rey. 21 Y sacrificaron víctimas a Jehová, y ofrecieron a Jehová holocaustos al día siguiente; mil becerros, mil carneros, mil corderos con sus libaciones, y muchos sacrificios de parte de todo Israel. 22 Y comieron y bebieron delante de Jehová aquel día con gran gozo; y dieron por segunda vez la investidura del reino a Salomón hijo de David, y ante Jehová le ungieron por príncipe, y a Sadoc por sacerdote.
23 Y se sentó Salomón por rey en el trono de Jehová en lugar de David su padre,(C) y fue prosperado; y le obedeció todo Israel. 24 Y todos los príncipes y poderosos, y todos los hijos del rey David, prestaron homenaje al rey Salomón. 25 Y Jehová engrandeció en extremo a Salomón a ojos de todo Israel, y le dio tal gloria en su reino, cual ningún rey la tuvo antes de él en Israel.

26 Así reinó David hijo de Isaí sobre todo Israel. 27 El tiempo que reinó sobre Israel fue cuarenta años. Siete años reinó en Hebrón, y treinta y tres reinó en Jerusalén.(D) 28 Y murió en buena vejez, lleno de días, de riquezas y de gloria; y reinó en su lugar Salomón su hijo. 29 Y los hechos del rey David, primeros y postreros, están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de Samuel vidente, en las crónicas del profeta Natán, y en las crónicas de Gad vidente, 30 con todo lo relativo a su reinado, y su poder, y los tiempos que pasaron sobre él, y sobre Israel y sobre todos los reinos de aquellas tierras.

29 Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.
2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
3 Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house.
4 Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:
5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?
6 Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly,
7 And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
8 And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
10 Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
11 Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.
16 O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
18 O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
19 And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
20 And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the Lord your God. And all the congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the Lord, and the king.
21 And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings unto the Lord, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
22 And did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the Lord to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.
23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
25 And the Lord magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
26 Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,
30 With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
