22 大卫说：“耶和华上帝的殿和以色列人献燔祭的坛要在这里。”
大卫筹备建殿
2 大卫下令召集住在以色列的外族人，派他们采凿建上帝殿用的石头。 3 大卫预备了大量的铁，用来做门扇的钉子和钩子，又预备了不计其数的铜。 4 他还预备了无数的香柏木，都是西顿人和泰尔人给他运来的。
5 大卫说：“为耶和华建造的殿宇必须宏伟辉煌，闻名于世，而我的儿子所罗门年纪还轻、阅历尚浅，所以我要为这殿预备材料。”因此，大卫在去世前为建殿预备了许多材料。
6 大卫召来儿子所罗门，嘱咐他要为以色列的上帝耶和华建造殿宇。 7 他对所罗门说：“儿啊，我本想为我的上帝耶和华的名建造一座殿宇。 8 但耶和华对我说，‘你杀了许多人，打了很多仗，在我眼前使许多人血洒大地，因此你不可为我的名建造殿宇。 9 你将生一个儿子，我必使他安享太平，不受四围的仇敌侵扰。他的名字要叫所罗门，他执政期间，我必使以色列太平安宁。 10 他将为我的名建造殿宇，他要做我的儿子，我要做他的父亲，我要使他的王朝在以色列永远长存。’
11 “儿啊，愿耶和华与你同在，使你亨通，照你的上帝耶和华的吩咐去建造祂的殿。 12 愿耶和华赐你聪明和智慧，以便你照祂的律法治理以色列。 13 你若谨遵耶和华借摩西吩咐以色列的律例和典章，就必亨通。你要刚强勇敢，不可惊慌害怕。 14 看啊，我历尽艰辛，为耶和华的殿预备了三千四百五十吨金子、三万四千五百吨银子和不计其数的铜和铁。我还预备了木料和石头。你还要多加预备。 15 你有许多工匠，如凿石匠、砌石匠、木匠等各种能工巧匠， 16 还有不计其数的金匠、银匠、铜匠和铁匠。现在动工吧，愿耶和华与你同在。”
17 大卫又吩咐以色列的众首领帮助他儿子所罗门， 18 他说：“你们的上帝耶和华与你们同在，使你们四境平安。祂将这地方的居民交在我手中，使这地方被祂和祂的子民治理。 19 现在，你们要全心全意地寻求你们的上帝耶和华，去建造耶和华上帝的圣所，好将祂的约柜和圣洁器皿都放在里面。”

David Prepares to Build the Temple
22 Then David said, (A)“This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.” 2 So David commanded to gather the (B)aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to (C)cut hewn stones to build the house of God. 3 And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance (D)beyond measure, 4 and cedar trees in abundance; for the (E)Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
5 Now David said, (F)“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
6 Then he called for his son Solomon, and [a]charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel. 7 And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, (G)it was in my mind to build a house (H)to the name of the Lord my God; 8 but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, (I)‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. 9 (J)Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him (K)rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be [b]Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. 10 (L)He shall build a house for My name, and (M)he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ 11 Now, my son, may (N)the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. 12 Only may the Lord (O)give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God. 13 (P)Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord [c]charged Moses concerning Israel. (Q)Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed. 14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron (R)beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. 15 Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. 16 Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and (S)the Lord be with you.”
17 David also commanded all the (T)leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, 18 “Is not the Lord your God with you? (U)And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people. 19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to (V)bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built (W)for the name of the Lord.”

22 David sade: "Här skall Herren Guds hus stå och här altaret för Israels brännoffer."
2 Och David befallde att man skulle samla de främlingar som fanns i Israels land. Han anställde hantverkare, som skulle hugga ut stenar för att bygga Guds hus. 3 David skaffade järn i mängd till spikar på dörrarna i portarna och till märlor, samt koppar i sådan mängd att den inte kunde vägas 4 och cederbjälkar i oräkneligt antal. Ty sidonierna och tyrierna förde cederträ i mängd till David. 5 Han tänkte nämligen: "Min son Salomo är ung och vek, och huset som skall byggas åt Herren måste göras mycket stort, så att det blir berömt och prisat i alla länder. Jag skall därför göra förberedelser för det." Så gjorde David en stor mängd förberedelser före sin död.
6 Han kallade till sig sin son Salomo och befallde honom att bygga ett hus åt Herren, Israels Gud. 7 David sade till sin son Salomo: "Jag hade själv i sinnet att bygga ett hus åt Herrens, min Guds, namn. 8 Men Herrens ord kom till mig. Han sade: Mycket blod har du utgjutit och många krig har du fört. Du skall inte bygga ett hus åt mitt namn, ty du har utgjutit mycket blod på jorden inför mina ögon. 9 Men se, en son skall födas åt dig. Han skall bli en fridsam man, och jag skall låta honom få fred med alla sina fiender runt omkring. Ty Salomo[a] skall han heta, och jag skall ge Israel frid[b] i hans dagar. 10 Han skall bygga ett hus åt mitt namn. Han skall vara min son och jag skall vara hans fader. Och jag skall befästa hans kungatron över Israel för evig tid.
11 Må nu Herren vara med dig, min son. Må du ha framgång och bygga Herrens, din Guds, hus, som han har lovat dig. 12 Må Herren endast ge dig klokhet och förstånd, när han sätter dig till härskare över Israel, så att du håller fast vid Herrens, din Guds, undervisning. 13 Då skall du ha framgång, om du noggrant följer de stadgar och föreskrifter som Herren befallde Mose att lägga på Israel. Var stark och frimodig. Frukta inte och var inte modlös. 14 Se, trots mina svårigheter har jag skaffat etthundratusen talenter guld och en miljon talenter silver till Herrens hus och dessutom mer koppar och järn än som kan vägas, så mycket är det. Trävirke och sten har jag också skaffat, och mer får du själv skaffa fram. 15 Du har också arbetare i mängd, hantverkare, stenhuggare och timmermän, och dessutom allt slags folk, som är kunnigt i alla slags arbeten. 16 Guldet, silvret, kopparn och järnet går inte att räkna. Stå upp och gå till verket, och må Herren vara med dig!"
17 Därefter befallde David alla Israels hövdingar att de skulle hjälpa hans son Salomo. Han sade: 18 " Herren, er Gud, är ju med er och har låtit er få ro på alla sidor. Han har gett landets invånare i min hand, och landet är lagt under Herren och hans folk. 19 Så vänd nu ert hjärta och er själ till att söka Herren, er Gud. Stå upp och bygg Herren Guds helgedom, så att man kan föra Herrens förbundsark och de föremål som helgats åt Gud in i det hus som skall byggas åt Herrens namn."
