6 So Jacob came to (A)Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him. 7 And he (B)built an altar there and called the place [a]El Bethel, because (C)there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 Now (D)Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called [b]Allon Bachuth.

7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 But Deborah, Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.

6 Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz(A) (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.(B) 7 There he built an altar,(C) and he called the place El Bethel,[a](D) because it was there that God revealed himself to him(E) when he was fleeing from his brother.(F)
8 Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse,(G) died and was buried under the oak(H) outside Bethel.(I) So it was named Allon Bakuth.[b]
