雅各遇拉結
29 雅各起行，到了東方人之地， 2 看見田間有一口井，有三群羊臥在井旁，因為人飲羊群都是用那井裡的水。井口上的石頭是大的。 3 常有羊群在那裡聚集，牧人把石頭轉離井口飲羊，隨後又把石頭放在井口的原處。 4 雅各對牧人說：「弟兄們，你們是哪裡來的？」他們說：「我們是哈蘭來的。」 5 他問他們說：「拿鶴的孫子拉班你們認識嗎？」他們說：「我們認識。」 6 雅各說：「他平安嗎？」他們說：「平安。看哪，他女兒拉結領著羊來了。」 7 雅各說：「日頭還高，不是羊群聚集的時候，你們不如飲羊，再去放一放。」 8 他們說：「我們不能，必等羊群聚齊，人把石頭轉離井口才可飲羊。」 9 雅各正和他們說話的時候，拉結領著她父親的羊來了，因為那些羊是她牧放的。 10 雅各看見母舅拉班的女兒拉結和母舅拉班的羊群，就上前把石頭轉離井口，飲他母舅拉班的羊群。 11 雅各與拉結親嘴，就放聲而哭。 12 雅各告訴拉結，自己是她父親的外甥，是利百加的兒子。拉結就跑去告訴她父親。
拉班迎接雅各
13 拉班聽見外甥雅各的信息，就跑去迎接，抱著他，與他親嘴，領他到自己的家。雅各將一切的情由告訴拉班。 14 拉班對他說：「你實在是我的骨肉。」雅各就和他同住了一個月。 15 拉班對雅各說：「你雖是我的骨肉[a]，豈可白白地服侍我？請告訴我，你要什麼為工價？」 16 拉班有兩個女兒，大的名叫利亞，小的名叫拉結。 17 利亞的眼睛沒有神氣，拉結卻生得美貌俊秀。 18 雅各愛拉結，就說：「我願為你小女兒拉結服侍你七年。」 19 拉班說：「我把她給你勝似給別人，你與我同住吧。」 20 雅各就為拉結服侍了七年。他因為深愛拉結，就看這七年如同幾天。
拉班以利亞妻雅各
21 雅各對拉班說：「日期已經滿了，求你把我的妻子給我，我好與她同房。」 22 拉班就擺設筵席，請齊了那地方的眾人。 23 到晚上，拉班將女兒利亞送來給雅各，雅各就與她同房。 24 拉班又將婢女悉帕給女兒利亞做使女。 25 到了早晨，雅各一看是利亞，就對拉班說：「你向我做的是什麼事呢？我服侍你，不是為拉結嗎？你為什麼欺哄我呢？」 26 拉班說：「大女兒還沒有給人，先把小女兒給人，在我們這地方沒有這規矩。
雅各又娶拉結
27 「你為這個滿了七日，我就把那個也給你，你再為她服侍我七年。」 28 雅各就如此行。滿了利亞的七日，拉班便將女兒拉結給雅各為妻。 29 拉班又將婢女辟拉給女兒拉結做使女。 30 雅各也與拉結同房，並且愛拉結勝似愛利亞，於是又服侍了拉班七年。
利亞與兩妾生子
31 耶和華見利亞失寵[b]，就使她生育，拉結卻不生育。 32 利亞懷孕生子，就給他起名叫魯本[c]，因而說：「耶和華看見我的苦情，如今我的丈夫必愛我。」 33 她又懷孕生子，就說：「耶和華因為聽見我失寵，所以又賜給我這個兒子。」於是給他起名叫西緬[d]。 34 她又懷孕生子，起名叫利未[e]，說：「我給丈夫生了三個兒子，他必與我聯合。」 35 她又懷孕生子，說：「這回我要讚美耶和華。」因此給他起名叫猶大[f]。這才停了生育。

Jacob Arrives in Paddan Aram
29 Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples.(A) 2 There he saw a well in the open country, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well.(B) The stone(C) over the mouth of the well was large. 3 When all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone(D) away from the well’s mouth and water the sheep.(E) Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.
4 Jacob asked the shepherds, “My brothers, where are you from?”(F)
“We’re from Harran,(G)” they replied.
5 He said to them, “Do you know Laban, Nahor’s grandson?”(H)
“Yes, we know him,” they answered.
6 Then Jacob asked them, “Is he well?”
“Yes, he is,” they said, “and here comes his daughter Rachel(I) with the sheep.(J)”
7 “Look,” he said, “the sun is still high; it is not time for the flocks to be gathered. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture.”
8 “We can’t,” they replied, “until all the flocks are gathered and the stone(K) has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water(L) the sheep.”
9 While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep,(M) for she was a shepherd. 10 When Jacob saw Rachel(N) daughter of his uncle Laban, and Laban’s sheep, he went over and rolled the stone(O) away from the mouth of the well and watered(P) his uncle’s sheep.(Q) 11 Then Jacob kissed(R) Rachel and began to weep aloud.(S) 12 He had told Rachel that he was a relative(T) of her father and a son of Rebekah.(U) So she ran and told her father.(V)
13 As soon as Laban(W) heard the news about Jacob, his sister’s son, he hurried to meet him. He embraced him(X) and kissed him and brought him to his home, and there Jacob told him all these things. 14 Then Laban said to him, “You are my own flesh and blood.”(Y)
Jacob Marries Leah and Rachel
After Jacob had stayed with him for a whole month, 15 Laban said to him, “Just because you are a relative(Z) of mine, should you work for me for nothing? Tell me what your wages(AA) should be.”
16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah,(AB) and the name of the younger was Rachel.(AC) 17 Leah had weak[a] eyes, but Rachel(AD) had a lovely figure and was beautiful.(AE) 18 Jacob was in love with Rachel(AF) and said, “I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.”(AG)
19 Laban said, “It’s better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me.” 20 So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel,(AH) but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.(AI)
21 Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to make love to her.(AJ)”
22 So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast.(AK) 23 But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah(AL) and brought her to Jacob, and Jacob made love to her. 24 And Laban gave his servant Zilpah(AM) to his daughter as her attendant.(AN)
25 When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me?(AO) I served you for Rachel, didn’t I? Why have you deceived me?(AP)”
26 Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one.(AQ) 27 Finish this daughter’s bridal week;(AR) then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work.(AS)”
28 And Jacob did so. He finished the week with Leah, and then Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife.(AT) 29 Laban gave his servant Bilhah(AU) to his daughter Rachel as her attendant.(AV) 30 Jacob made love to Rachel also, and his love for Rachel was greater than his love for Leah.(AW) And he worked for Laban another seven years.(AX)
Jacob’s Children
31 When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved,(AY) he enabled her to conceive,(AZ) but Rachel remained childless. 32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son.(BA) She named him Reuben,[b](BB) for she said, “It is because the Lord has seen my misery.(BC) Surely my husband will love me now.”
33 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Because the Lord heard that I am not loved,(BD) he gave me this one too.” So she named him Simeon.[c](BE)
34 Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me,(BF) because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.[d](BG)
35 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah.[e](BH) Then she stopped having children.(BI)

ଯାକୁବ ରାହେଲଙ୍କୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କଲେ
29 ଏହା ପରେ ଯାକୁବ ତାଙ୍କର ଯାତ୍ରା ଗ୍ଭଲୁ ରଖିଲେ, ସେ ପୂର୍ବଦିଗସ୍ଥ ଦେଶକୁ ଗଲେ। 2 ଯାକୁବ ଦେଖିଲେ, ସେହି ଭୂମିରେ ଏକ କୂପ। ମେଷମାନେ, ସେହି କୂପ ନିକଟରେ ବିଶ୍ରାମ ନେଉଥିଲେ। ଏହା ହେଉଛି ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନ, ମେଷମାନେ ଜଳପାନ କରୁଥିଲେ। ଗୋଟିଏ ବଡ଼ ଶୀଳାଖଣ୍ଡ କୂପର ମୁହଁ ଘୋଡ଼ାଇ ରଖିଥିଲା। 3 ଯେତେବେଳେ ସବୁ ମେଷପଲ ସେହି କୂପ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି ସେତେବେଳେ ମେଷପାଳକମାନେ ଏହି ଶୀଳାକୁ କୂପର ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ କାଢ଼ିଦିଅନ୍ତି। ମେଷମାନେ ପାଣି ପିଇ ସାରିବା ପରେ ସେମାନେ କୂପର ମୁହଁକୁ ପଥର ସହିତ ଆଚ୍ଛାଦନ କରନ୍ତି।
4 ଯାକୁବ ସେଠାରେ ସେହି ମେଷପାଳକମାନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ହେ ଭାଇମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଘର କେଉଁଠି?”
ସେମାନେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭ ଘର ହାରଣରେ।”
5 ଏହା ପରେ ଯାକୁବ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଲାବନଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣିଛ କି, ଯେ କି ନାହୋରର ପୁତ୍ର?”
ମେଷପାଳକମାନେ କହିଲେ, “ହଁ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣିଛୁ।”
6 ଏହା ପରେ ଯାକୁବ ତାଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭରିଲେ, “ସେ କିପରି ଅଛନ୍ତି?”
ସେମାନେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ସେ ଭଲ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ କୁଶଳ। ଦେଖ ତାଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ରାହେଲ ତାଙ୍କ ମେଷପଲ ସହିତ ଆସୁଛନ୍ତି।”
7 ଯାକୁବ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖ, ଏବେ ବହୁତ ବେଳ ଅଛି। ମେଷପଲ ଏକତ୍ର କରିବାର ସମୟ ହୋଇ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମେଷଗଣଙ୍କୁ ଜଳପାନ କରାଇ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଚରାଇବାକୁ ନେଇଯାଅ।”
8 କିନ୍ତୁ ମେଷପାଳକ କହିଲେ, “ଯେପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସମସ୍ତ ମେଷ ଏକତ୍ର ନ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି ସେ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଏହା କରି ପାରିବୁ ନାହିଁ। ସମସ୍ତ ଏକତ୍ର ହେବାପରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ କୂପ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ପଥର କାଢ଼ିବୁ ଏବଂ ସମସ୍ତ ମେଷମାନେ ପାଣି ପିଇ ପାରିବେ।”
9 ଯେତେବେଳେ ଯାକୁବ ମେଷପାଳକମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ କଥା ହେଉଥିଲେ ସେହି ସମୟରେ ରାହେଲ ତାଙ୍କ ପିତାଙ୍କର ମେଷପଲ ସହିତ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ। ନିଜ ପିତାଙ୍କ ମେଷମାନଙ୍କର ଯତ୍ନ ନେବା ରାହେଲଙ୍କର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଥିଲା। 10 ରାହେଲ ଥିଲେ ଲାବନର ଝିଅ। ଲାବନ ଥିଲେ ଯାକୁବର ମା’ ରିବିକାର ଭାଇ। ଯାକୁବ ଯେତେବେଳେ ମାତୁଳ ଲାବନର କନ୍ୟା ମେଷ ସହିତ ରାହେଲକୁ ଦେଖିଲେ, ସେ ଯାଇ ପଥର ଘୁଞ୍ଚାଇଲେ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ମେଷମାନେ ଜଳପାନ କଲେ। 11 ଏହା ପରେ ଯାକୁବ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଚୁମ୍ବନ ଦେଲେ ଏବଂ କାନ୍ଦିଲେ। 12 ଯାକୁବ ରାହେଲକୁ କହିଲେ ଯେ, ସେ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ରିବିକାର ପୁତ୍ର। ତେଣୁ ରାହେଲ ଘରକୁ ଦୌଡ଼ିଯାଇ ତାଙ୍କ ପିତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ।
13 ଲାବନ ତାଙ୍କ ଭଉଣୀର ପୁତ୍ର ଯାକୁବ ବିଷୟରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଶୁଣିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ଲାବନ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଦୌଡ଼ିଗଲେ, ଲାବନ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆଲିଙ୍ଗନ କଲେ ଓ ଚୁମ୍ବନ ଦେଲେ। ଏବଂ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଗୃହକୁ ଆଣିଲେ। ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନକୁ ସବୁକିଛି କହିଲେ।
14 ଏହା ପରେ ଲାବନ କହିଲେ, “ଏହା ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟ! ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ବଂଶଧର।” ତେଣୁ ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନଙ୍କ ଘରେ ଏକ ମାସ ରହିଲେ।
ଲାବନ ଯାକୁବଙ୍କୁ ଫାନ୍ଦରେ ପକାଇଲେ
15 ଦିନେ ଲାବନ ଯାକୁବଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋର କୁଟୁମ୍ବ ବୋଲି କ’ଣ ବିନା ବର୍ତ୍ତନରେ ମୋର ଦାସକର୍ମ କରିବ? ଏଣୁ କି ବର୍ତ୍ତନ ନେବ? ତାହା କୁହ।”
16 ଲାବନର ଦୁଇଟି ଝିଅ ଥିଲେ। ବଡ଼ ଝିଅର ନାମ ଲେୟା ଓ ସାନ ଝିଅର ନାମ ରାହେଲ।
17 ରାହେଲ ବହୁତ ସୁନ୍ଦରୀ, ରୂପବତୀ ଥିଲେ ଏବଂ ଲେୟାର ନୟନ କୋମଳ ଓ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ଥିଲା[a] 18 ଯାକୁବ ରାହେଲକୁ ପ୍ରେମ କଲେ। ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ସାତ ବର୍ଷ କାମ କରିବି ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ସାନ ଝିଅ ରାହେଲ ସହିତ ବିବାହ ଦିଅ।”
19 ଲାବନ କହିଲା, “ଅନ୍ୟକୁ ବିବାହ କରିବା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବିବାହ କଲେ ନିଶ୍ଚିତ ଭଲ ହେବ। ତେଣୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ସହିତ ରୁହ।”
20 ତେଣୁ ଯାକୁବ ତାଙ୍କ ସହ ସେଠାରେ ସାତ ବର୍ଷ ରହି କାମ କଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଏହା ତାଙ୍କୁ ଖୁବ୍ କମ ସମୟ ପରି ଜଣାଗଲା କାରଣ ସେ ରାହେଲକୁ ବହୁତ ଭଲ ପାଉଥିଲେ।
21 ସାତ ବର୍ଷ ପରେ ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୋତେ ରାହେଲକୁ ଦିଅ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ବିବାହ କରିବି। ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ମୋର କାମ କରିବା ସମୟ ସରି ଯାଇଛି।”
22 ତେଣୁ ଲାବନ ସେଠାକାର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏକ ଭୋଜି ଦେଲେ। 23 ସେହି ଦିନ, ରାତିରେ ଲାବନ ଯାକୁବଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କର ଝିଅ ଲେୟାକୁ ଆଣିଲେ। ଯାକୁବ ଏବଂ ଲେୟା ଉଭୟ ସହବାସ କଲେ। 24 ଆଉ ଲାବନ ଆପଣା କନ୍ୟା ଲେୟାର ଦାସୀ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସିଳ୍ପା ନାମ୍ନୀ ଆପଣା ଦାସୀକୁ ଦେଲେ। 25 ତା’ ପରଦିନ ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଯାକୁବ ଦେଖିଲେ ସେ ଯାହା ସହିତ ରାତି ବିତାଇଛନ୍ତି ସେ ଲେୟା ଥିଲା। ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ଠକିଛ। ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ କଠିନ ପରିଶ୍ରମ କଲି, ଯଦ୍ଦ୍ୱାରା ମୁଁ ରାହେଲକୁ ବିବାହ କରି ପାରିବି। ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାହିଁକି ମୋତେ ଠକିଲ?”
26 ଲାବନ କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭ ଦେଶରେ ଅଛି ଯେ, ବଡ଼ ବିବାହ କରିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ସାନ ବିବାହ କରି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ। 27 କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏଠାରେ ବିବାହ ଉତ୍ସବ ସାତ ଦିନ ଧରି ପାଳନ କର ତା'ପରେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ରାହେଲ ସହିତ ବିବାହ ଦେବି। କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ମୋ’ ପାଇଁ ଆଉ ସାତ ବର୍ଷ ପରିଶ୍ରମ କରିବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ।”
28 ତେଣୁ ଯାକୁବ ଏହିପରି କଲେ, ଏବଂ ଏକ ସପ୍ତାହ ବିତାଇଲେ। ଏହା ପରେ ଲାବନ ରାହେଲକୁ ତା'ର ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଭାବେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲେ। 29 ଲାବନ ରାହେଲର ଦାସୀ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆପଣାର ବିଲହା ନାମ୍ନୀ ଦାସୀକି ଦେଲେ। 30 ତେଣୁ ଯାକୁବ ରାହେଲ ସହିତ ସହବାସ କଲେ, ଏବଂ ଯାକୁବ ଲେୟା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ରାହେଲକୁ ଅଧିକ ଭଲ ପାଇଲେ। ଯାକୁବ ଲାବନ ପାଇଁ ଆଉ ସାତ ବର୍ଷ କାମ କଲେ।
ଯାକୁବର ପରିବାର ବଢ଼ିଲେ
31 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦେଖିଲେ ଲେୟା ଘୃଣିତ ହେଉଛି, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଲେୟାକୁ ଗର୍ଭବତୀ କରାଇଲେ। ରାହେଲର କୌଣସି ସନ୍ତାନ ଜନ୍ମ ହେଲା ନାହିଁ।
32 ଲେୟା ଏକ ପୁତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନ ଜନ୍ମ ଦେଲେ। ସେ ତାହାର ନାମ ରୁବେନ୍ ଦେଲେ। ଲେୟା ତାଙ୍କର ଏପରି ନାମ ଦେଲେ କାରଣ ସେ କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋର ଦୁଃଖ ଦେଖି ଅଛନ୍ତି। ମୋର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ମୋତେ ଭଲ ପାଇବେ।”
33 ଲେୟା ପୁନରାୟ ଗର୍ଭବତୀ ହୋଇ ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ପୁତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନ ଜନ୍ମ ଦେଲେ। ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ନାମ ଦେଲେ ଶିମିୟୋନ, ସେ ଶୁଣି ପାରିଲା। ଲେୟା କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶୁଣିଲେ ଯେ ମୋ’ ସ୍ୱାମୀ ମୋତେ ଘୃଣା କରନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ସେ ମୋ’ କୋଳରେ ଏହି ସନ୍ତାନ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି।”
34 ଲେୟା ପୁଣି ଗର୍ଭବତୀ ହେଲେ, ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ପୁତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନକୁ ଜନ୍ମ ଦେଲେ। ସେ ସେହି ପିଲାର ନାମ ଦେଲା ଲେବୀ। ଲେୟା କହିଲେ, “ଏବେ ମୋ’ ସ୍ୱାମୀ ମୋ'ଠାରେ ଆସକ୍ତ ହେବେ। ଯେହେତୁ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ତିନୋଟି ପୁତ୍ର ଦେଇଅଛି।”
35 ଏହା ପରେ ଲେୟା ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ସନ୍ତାନ ଜନ୍ମ ଦେଲେ। ସେ ତାହାର ନାମ ଦେଲେ ଯିହୁଦା, ସେ କହିଲେ, “ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ମୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ପ୍ରଶଂସା କରିବି।” ଏହା ପରେ ଲେୟା ପିଲା ଜନ୍ମ କରିବା ବନ୍ଦ କରିଦେଲେ।
