拿答和亞比戶之死
10 亞倫的兒子拿答和亞比戶各拿自己的香爐，點火加香，在耶和華面前獻上凡火。他們這樣做不合耶和華的吩咐。 2 於是，有火從耶和華面前出來吞噬了他們，他們就死在耶和華面前。 3 摩西告訴亞倫：「耶和華曾說過，『我要在事奉我的人[a]中顯明我的聖潔，在所有子民面前彰顯我的榮耀。』」亞倫默默無言。 4 摩西叫來亞倫的叔父烏薛的兒子米沙利和以利撒反，對他們說：「過來，把你們弟兄的屍體從聖所前抬到營外去。」 5 他們就遵照摩西的吩咐，把仍穿著內袍的屍體抬到營外。 6 摩西對亞倫和他剩下的兩個兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說：「你們不要蓬頭散髮，也不要撕裂衣服，免得你們死亡，也免得耶和華向全體會眾發怒。不過，你們的所有以色列同胞都可以為耶和華用火燒死的人哀傷。 7 你們不可走出會幕門口，否則你們都會死，因為耶和華的膏油在你們身上。」他們就遵照摩西的話去做。
有關祭司的條例
8 耶和華對亞倫說： 9 「你和你兒子們進會幕前，淡酒烈酒都不可喝，否則你們都會死。你們世世代代都要遵守這永遠的條例。 10 你們必須明辨什麼是聖潔的、什麼是世俗的，什麼是潔淨的、什麼是不潔淨的。 11 你們必須將我藉摩西賜給以色列人的一切律例教導他們。」
12 摩西對亞倫及其兩個兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說：「你們要把獻給耶和華的火祭中剩下的素祭做成無酵餅，在壇邊吃，因為這是至聖之物。 13 你們要在聖潔之處吃，因為在獻給耶和華的火祭中，這是你們和你們的子孫應得之份。這是耶和華對我的吩咐。 14 至於作搖祭的胸肉和作舉祭的腿肉，你們和你們的子孫可以在潔淨的地方吃。因為在以色列人所獻的平安祭中，這是你們應得之份。 15 在獻火祭的脂肪時，要把作舉祭的腿肉和作搖祭的胸肉一起帶到耶和華面前，這些永遠是你們和你們的子孫應得之份，正如耶和華的吩咐。」
16 摩西到處尋找那隻作贖罪祭的公山羊，卻發現那隻羊已經被焚燒了。他憤怒地對亞倫剩下的兩個兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說： 17 「你們為什麼不在聖潔之處吃這贖罪祭？這是至聖之物，耶和華賜給你們是要叫你們為會眾擔罪，在耶和華面前為他們贖罪。 18 既然這祭牲的血沒有被帶進聖所，你們本應按照我的吩咐在聖潔之處吃這祭肉。」 19 亞倫對摩西說：「看啊，他們今天向耶和華獻贖罪祭和燔祭，卻有這樣的災禍發生在我身上。今天我如果吃了這贖罪祭的祭肉，耶和華會悅納嗎？」 20 摩西對亞倫的回答感到滿意。

獻凡火干罪
10 亞倫的兒子拿答和亞比戶各拿著自己的香爐，盛上火，加上香，在耶和華面前獻上平常的火，是耶和華沒有命令他們獻的。 2 那時有火從耶和華面前出來，把他們燒滅，他們就死在耶和華面前。 3 於是摩西對亞倫說：“這就是耶和華曾經告訴我們的，他說：
‘在親近我的人中，我要顯為聖，
在眾人面前，我要得榮耀。’”
亞倫就默然無語。 4 摩西把亞倫叔父烏薛的兒子米沙利和以利撒反召了來，對他們說：“你們上前來，把你們的兄弟從聖所前抬到營外去。” 5 於是二人走近來，照著摩西的吩咐，把他們連同他們的衣服抬到營外去。 6 摩西對亞倫和他的兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說：“你們不要披頭散髮，不可撕裂你們的衣服，免得你們死亡，又免得耶和華向全體會眾發怒。你們的親族，以色列全家，卻要為耶和華所燒死的人哀哭（“要為耶和華……哀哭”或譯：“要為耶和華所燃起的焚燒哀哭”）。 7 你們也不可走出會幕的門口，免得你們死亡，因為耶和華的膏油在你們身上。”他們就照著摩西的話行。
8 耶和華對亞倫說： 9 “你和你的兒子一起進會幕的時候，淡酒烈酒都不可喝，免得你們死亡，這要作你們世世代代永遠的律例； 10 使你們可以把聖的和俗的，潔淨的和不潔淨的，分辨清楚； 11 可以把耶和華藉著摩西告訴以色列人的一切律例，教訓他們。”
重申祭司的分與權利
12 摩西對亞倫和他剩下的兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說：“獻給耶和華的火祭中剩下的素祭，你們要拿來在祭壇旁邊作無酵餅吃，因為這是至聖的。 13 你們要在聖潔的地方吃，在獻與耶和華的火祭中，這是你和你兒子的分，因為耶和華是這樣吩咐我。 14 至於作搖祭的胸和作舉祭的後腿，你們也要在潔淨的地方吃，你和你的兒女要一起吃，這是從以色列人獻的平安祭中，給你和你兒子的分。 15 至於作舉祭的後腿，作搖祭的胸，他們要與火祭的脂肪一同帶來，當作搖祭，在耶和華面前搖一搖。這都要歸給你和與你在一起的兒子，當作永遠的律例，都是照著耶和華所吩咐的。”
16 那時，摩西急切地尋找那作贖罪祭的公山羊，發現已經燒了；他就向亞倫剩下的兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪發怒，說： 17 “這贖罪祭是至聖的，耶和華又把祭肉給你們，要叫你們擔當會眾的罪孽，在耶和華面前為他們贖罪，你們為甚麼沒有在聖潔的地方吃呢？ 18 這祭牲的血既然沒有帶進聖所裡去，你們就應該照著我所吩咐的，在聖所裡吃這祭肉。” 19 亞倫對摩西說：“今天他們在耶和華面前已經獻了贖罪祭和燔祭，而且有這樣的災禍臨到我；如果今天我吃了贖罪祭的祭肉，耶和華怎能看為美好呢？” 20 摩西聽了，也覺得合理。

10 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.
2 And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.
3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.
5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.
6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the Lord hath kindled.
7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
8 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, saying,
9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:
10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;
11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
12 And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:
13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire: for so I am commanded.
14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.
15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the Lord; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the Lord hath commanded.
16 And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,
17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the Lord?
18 Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
19 And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the Lord; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the Lord?
20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.
