Jehoram Restores the Shunammite’s Land
8 Now (A)Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise and go [a]with your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn; for (B)Yahweh has called for a famine, and (C)it will even come on the land for seven years.” 2 So the woman arose and did according to the word of the man of God, and she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 3 Now it happened at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went out to cry out to the king for her house and for her field. 4 Now the king was speaking with (D)Gehazi, the young man of the man of God, saying, “Please recount to me all the great things that Elisha has done.” 5 Now it happened as he was recounting to the king (E)how he had restored to life the one who was dead, that behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life was crying out to the king for her house and for her field. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.” 6 Then the king asked the woman, and she recounted it to him. So the king appointed for her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers and all the produce of the field from the day that she left the land even until now.”
Elisha Weeps over Hazael’s Evil
7 Then Elisha came to (F)Damascus. Now (G)Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick, and it was told to him, saying, “(H)The man of God has come here.” 8 And the king said to (I)Hazael, “(J)Take a present in your hand and go to meet the man of God, and (K)inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I be restored to life from this sickness?’” 9 So Hazael went to meet him and took a present in his hand, even every kind of good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ loads; and he came and stood before him and said, “(L)Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I be restored to life from this sickness?’” 10 Then Elisha said to him, “(M)Go, say to him, ‘You will surely be restored to life,’ but (N)Yahweh has shown me that he will certainly die.” 11 And he [b]fixed his gaze steadily on him (O)until he was ashamed, and (P)the man of God wept. 12 Then Hazael said, “Why does my lord weep?” Then he said, “Because (Q)I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their fortifications you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their infants you (R)will dash in pieces, and their pregnant women you will rip up.” 13 Then Hazael said, “But what is your servant, (S)who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” And Elisha [c]answered, “(T)Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Aram.” 14 So he went from Elisha and came to his master. And he said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he said, “He said to me that (U)you would surely be restored to life.” 15 Now it happened that on the following day, he took the cover and dipped it in water and spread it on his face; (V)so he died. And Hazael became king in his place.
Jehoram Reigns over Judah
16 Now in the fifth year of (W)Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then the king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah became king. 17 He was (X)thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for (Y)the daughter of Ahab became his wife; and he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. 19 However, Yahweh was not willing to make Judah a ruin, for the sake of David His servant, (Z)since He had [d]promised him to give a [e]lamp to him through his sons always.
20 In his days (AA)Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah and made a king over themselves. 21 Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him. And he arose by night and struck the Edomites who were surrounding him and the commanders of the chariots; (AB)but [f]his army fled to their tents. 22 (AC)So Edom revolted [g]against Judah to this day. Then (AD)Libnah revolted at the same time. 23 Now the rest of the acts of Joram and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Ahaziah Reigns over Judah
24 So Joram slept with his fathers and (AE)was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and (AF)Ahaziah his son became king in his place.
25 (AG)In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah became king. 26 (AH)Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri king of Israel. 27 (AI)He also walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, like the house of Ahab had done, because he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
28 Then he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war with (AJ)Hazael king of Aram at (AK)Ramoth-gilead, and the Arameans struck Joram. 29 So (AL)King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had caused by striking him at (AM)Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then (AN)Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was sick.

8 Then Elisha spoke to the woman (A)whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the Lord (B)has called for a (C)famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.” 2 So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and dwelt in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 It came to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went to make an appeal to the king for her house and for her land. 4 Then the king talked with (D)Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me, please, all the great things Elisha has done.” 5 Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had (E)restored to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him.
So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.”
Death of Ben-Hadad
7 Then Elisha went to Damascus, and (F)Ben-Hadad king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.” 8 And the king said to (G)Hazael, (H)“Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and (I)inquire of the Lord by him, saying, ‘Shall I recover from this disease?’ ” 9 So (J)Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, of every good thing of Damascus, forty camel-loads; and he came and stood before him, and said, “Your son Ben-Hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Shall I recover from this disease?’ ”
10 And Elisha said to him, “Go, say to him, ‘You shall certainly recover.’ However the Lord has shown me that (K)he will really die.” 11 Then he [a]set his countenance in a stare until he was ashamed; and the man of God (L)wept. 12 And Hazael said, “Why is my lord weeping?”
He answered, “Because I know (M)the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: Their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword; and you (N)will dash their children, and rip open their women with child.”
13 So Hazael said, “But what (O)is your servant—a dog, that he should do this gross thing?”
And Elisha answered, (P)“The Lord has shown me that you will become king over Syria.”
14 Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he answered, “He told me you would surely recover.” 15 But it happened on the next day that he took a thick cloth and dipped it in water, and spread it over his face so that he died; and Hazael reigned in his place.
Jehoram Reigns in Judah(Q)
16 Now (R)in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoshaphat having been king of Judah, (S)Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat began to reign as [b]king of Judah. 17 He was (T)thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for (U)the daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. 19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, (V)as He promised him to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
20 In his days (W)Edom revolted against Judah’s authority, (X)and made a king over themselves. 21 So [c]Joram went to Zair, and all his chariots with him. Then he rose by night and attacked the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots; and the troops fled to their tents. 22 Thus Edom has been in revolt against Judah’s authority to this day. (Y)And Libnah revolted at that time.
23 Now the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 24 So Joram [d]rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. Then (Z)Ahaziah[e] his son reigned in his place.
Ahaziah Reigns in Judah(AA)
25 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, began to reign. 26 Ahaziah was (AB)twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. 8 E falou Eliseu àquela mulher cujo filho vivificara, dizendo: Levanta-te, e vai-te, tu e a tua família, e peregrina onde puderes peregrinar; porque o Senhor chamou a fome, a qual também virá à terra por sete anos. 2 E levantou-se a mulher e fez conforme a palavra do homem de Deus; porque foi ela com a sua família e peregrinou na terra dos filisteus sete anos. 3 E sucedeu que, ao cabo dos sete anos, a mulher voltou da terra dos filisteus e saiu a clamar ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras.
4 Ora, o rei falava a Geazi, moço do homem de Deus, dizendo: Conta-me, peço-te, todas as grandes obras que Eliseu tem feito. 5 E sucedeu que, contando ele ao rei como vivificara a um morto, eis que a mulher cujo filho vivificara clamou ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras; então, disse Geazi: Ó rei, meu senhor, esta é a mulher, e este o seu filho, a quem Eliseu vivificou. 6 E o rei perguntou à mulher, e ela lho contou; então, o rei lhe deu um eunuco, dizendo: Faze-lhe restituir tudo quanto era seu e todas as rendas das terras, desde o dia em que deixou a terra até agora.
Hazael mata a Ben-Hadade
7 Depois, veio Eliseu a Damasco, estando Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, doente; e lho anunciaram, dizendo: O homem de Deus é chegado aqui. 8 Então, o rei disse a Hazael: Toma um presente na tua mão, e vai a encontrar-te com o homem de Deus, e pergunta por ele ao Senhor, dizendo: Hei de eu sarar desta doença? 9 Foi, pois, Hazael encontrar-se com ele e tomou um presente na sua mão, a saber, de tudo que era bom de Damasco, quarenta camelos carregados; e veio, e se pôs diante dele, e disse: Teu filho Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, me enviou a ti, a dizer: Sararei eu desta doença? 10 E Eliseu lhe disse: Vai e dize-lhe: Certamente, não sararás. Porque o Senhor me tem mostrado que certamente morrerá. 11 E afirmou a sua vista e fitou os olhos nele, até se envergonhar; e chorou o homem de Deus. 12 Então, disse Hazael: Por que chora meu senhor? E ele disse: Porque sei o mal que hás de fazer aos filhos de Israel; porás fogo às suas fortalezas, e os seus jovens matarás à espada, e os seus meninos despedaçarás, e as suas pejadas fenderás. 13 E disse Hazael: Pois que é teu servo, que não é mais do que um cão, para fazer tão grande coisa? E disse Eliseu: O Senhor me tem mostrado que tu hás de ser rei da Síria. 14 Então, partiu de Eliseu e veio a seu senhor, o qual lhe disse: Que te disse Eliseu? E disse ele: Disse-me que certamente sararás. 15 E sucedeu, ao outro dia, que tomou um cobertor, e o molhou na água, e o estendeu sobre o seu rosto, e morreu. E Hazael reinou em seu lugar.
O reinado de Jeorão
16 E, no ano quinto de Jorão, filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, reinando ainda Josafá em Judá, começou a reinar Jeorão, filho de Josafá, rei de Judá. 17 Era ele da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar e oito anos reinou em Jerusalém. 18 E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como também fizeram os da casa de Acabe, porque tinha por mulher a filha de Acabe, e fez o que era mal aos olhos do Senhor. 19 Porém o Senhor não quis destruir a Judá por amor de Davi, seu servo, como lhe tinha dito que lhe daria para sempre uma lâmpada a seus filhos.
20 Nos seus dias, se revoltaram os edomitas contra o mando de Judá e puseram sobre si um rei. 21 Pelo que Jeorão passou a Zair, e todos os carros com ele; e ele se levantou de noite e feriu os edomitas que estavam ao redor dele e os capitães dos carros; e o povo foi para as suas tendas. 22 Todavia, os edomitas ficaram revoltados contra o mando de Judá até ao dia de hoje; então, também se revoltou Libna no mesmo tempo.
23 O mais dos atos de Jeorão e tudo quanto fez, porventura, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos Reis de Judá? 24 E Jeorão dormiu com seus pais e foi sepultado com seus pais na Cidade de Davi; e Acazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
O reinado de Acazias
25 No ano doze de Jorão filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, começou a reinar Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá. 26 Era Acazias de vinte e dois anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou um ano em Jerusalém; e era o nome de sua mãe Atalia, filha de Onri, rei de Israel. 27 E andou no caminho da casa de Acabe e fez mal aos olhos do Senhor, como a casa de Acabe, porque era genro da casa de Acabe. 28 E foi com Jorão, filho de Acabe, a Ramote-Gileade, à peleja contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e os siros feriram Jorão. 29 Então, voltou o rei Jorão para se curar em Jezreel das feridas que os siros lhe fizeram em Ramá, quando pelejou contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e desceu Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá, para ver a Jorão, filho de Acabe, em Jezreel, porquanto estava doente.
