上帝賜摩西能力
4 摩西回答說：「他們不會相信我或聽我的話，他們會說，『耶和華根本沒有向你顯現。』」 2 耶和華對摩西說：「你手裡拿的是什麼？」摩西說：「是一根手杖。」 3 耶和華說：「把它丟在地上！」於是，摩西把杖丟在地上，杖變成了一條蛇。摩西連忙跑開。 4 耶和華說：「你伸手抓住牠的尾巴！」摩西就伸手抓蛇的尾巴，蛇在他手中變回了杖。 5 耶和華說：「這樣，他們就會相信他們祖先的上帝耶和華，就是亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的上帝，曾經向你顯現。」
6 耶和華又說：「把手放進懷裡。」摩西把手放進懷裡，手抽出來的時候，竟患了痲瘋病，像雪一樣白。 7 耶和華說：「再把手放進懷裡。」摩西又把手放進懷裡，這次再抽出來的時候，手已經復原，跟其他地方的皮肉一樣。 8 耶和華說：「縱然他們不聽你的話，不信第一個神蹟，也必定相信第二個神蹟。 9 如果他們兩個神蹟都不相信，還是不聽你的話，你就從尼羅河裡取些水來倒在旱地上，那水就會在旱地上變成血。」
10 摩西對耶和華說：「主啊！我向來不善言辭，即使你對僕人說話以後，我還是不善言辭，因為我是個拙口笨舌的人。」 11 耶和華對他說：「是誰造人的口舌？是誰使人變成啞巴或聾子？是誰使人目明或眼瞎？不都是我耶和華嗎？ 12 去吧！我必賜給你口才，指示你說什麼話。」 13 但是摩西說：「主啊，請派其他人去吧。」 14 耶和華向摩西發怒說：「利未人亞倫不是你哥哥嗎？他是個能言善辯的人，正要來迎接你。他見到你一定很歡喜。 15 你要把該說的話傳給他，我會賜你們口才，教你們如何行事。 16 他要替你向百姓說話，做你的發言人，你對他來說就像上帝一樣。 17 你要把手杖帶在身邊，以便行神蹟。」
18 摩西回到家裡，對他的岳父葉忒羅說：「求你讓我回埃及去探望我的親人，看看他們是否在世。」葉忒羅說：「你平安地去吧。」 19 耶和華在米甸對摩西說：「你只管放心回埃及去，想害你性命的人都已經死了。」 20 於是，摩西拿著上帝的杖，帶著妻子和兒子騎驢返回埃及。 21 耶和華對摩西說：「你到了埃及，見到法老的時候，務要照我賜給你的能力在法老面前行神蹟。但我要使他的心剛硬，他必不讓百姓離開。 22 那時，你就告訴法老，『耶和華說，以色列是我的長子， 23 我對你說過讓我的長子出去事奉我，但你執意不肯。看啊，我要殺你的長子。』」
24 摩西在途中夜宿的時候，耶和華遇見摩西，想要殺他。 25 他的妻子西坡拉拿起鋒利的火石，割下兒子的包皮，放在摩西腳前，說：「你真是我的血郎。」 26 這樣，耶和華才沒殺他。當時，西坡拉說「血郎」是指割禮一事。
27 耶和華對亞倫說：「你到曠野去迎接摩西。」他就在上帝的山上遇見摩西，並親吻他。 28 摩西把耶和華吩咐他的以及要他行的神蹟都告訴了亞倫。 29 摩西和亞倫一起回去招聚以色列的眾長老， 30 亞倫把耶和華對摩西的吩咐詳細地告訴他們。摩西又在百姓面前行了那些神蹟， 31 百姓相信了。以色列人聽見耶和華眷顧他們、看到了他們的苦難，都俯伏敬拜祂。

Mose ber Gud om hjälp
4 Mose sa: ”Men om de inte tror mig och inte lyssnar på vad jag säger? Om de säger att Herren aldrig har uppenbarat sig för mig?”
2 ”Vad är det du har i din hand?” frågade Herren honom. ”En herdestav”, svarade han. 3 ”Kasta den på marken”, sa Herren till honom. När Mose kastade den på marken förvandlades den till en orm och han sprang undan för den. 4 Då sa Herren till honom: ”Ta fast den i stjärten!” När Mose gjorde det, blev den en stav igen. 5 ”Detta ska få dem att förstå att Herren, deras förfäders Gud, Abrahams, Isaks och Jakobs Gud, har uppenbarat sig för dig.
6 Stick nu in handen innanför din mantel”, sa Herren. Mose stack in handen i manteln och drog sedan ut den igen. Då var den alldeles vit[a] som snö av spetälska. 7 ”Stick in den igen”, sa Herren, och han stack in den. När han sedan drog ut den på nytt var den normal, precis som förut.
8 ”Om de inte tror dig eller tar det första tecknet på allvar, kommer de att tro på det andra, 9 och om de inte lyssnar på dig efter dessa båda tecken, ska du ta vatten från Nilen och hälla ut det på torra land, och det ska förvandlas till blod.”
10 Mose svarade: ”Herre, jag har inte så lätt för att tala. Det har jag aldrig haft och inte nu heller, sedan du har talat till mig! Jag har svårt att uttrycka mig.”
11 ”Vem har gett människan hennes mun?” frågade Herren honom. ”Är det inte jag, Herren, som gör att en människa kan tala eller inte tala, se eller inte se, höra eller inte höra? 12 Gå nu och jag ska vara med dig och hjälpa dig att tala och jag ska lära dig vad du ska säga.”
13 ”Men Herre, kan du inte sända någon annan?” invände Mose. 14 Då blev Herren arg på Mose och sa: ”Du har ju din bror Aron, leviten. Han är en man som kan tala. Han är redan på väg till dig och kommer att bli glad när han träffar dig. 15 Tala till honom och lägg orden i hans mun. Jag ska hjälpa er båda att tala tillsammans, och jag ska tala om för er vad ni ska göra. 16 Han ska vara din talesman inför folket, och han ska vara din mun och du ska vara som Gud för honom. 17 Ta med dig staven, så att du med den kan göra tecknen.”
Mose återvänder till Egypten
18 Mose gick hem och sa till sin svärfar Jetro: ”Jag skulle vilja gå tillbaka till Egypten och besöka mina släktingar för att se om de fortfarande lever.” ”Naturligtvis får du gå, och lycka till”, svarade Jetro.
19 Innan Mose lämnade Midjan, sa Herren till honom: ”Gå tillbaka till Egypten, för alla de som ville döda dig är nu själva döda.”
20 Mose satte sin hustru och sina söner på en åsna och började resan till Egypten. I handen hade han Guds stav.
21 Herren sa till Mose: ”När du kommer tillbaka till Egypten, gör inför farao de under som jag har gett dig makt att göra. Men jag kommer att göra hans hjärta hårt, så att han inte släpper folket. 22 Då ska du säga till honom: ’Så säger Herren: Israel är min förstfödde son. 23 Jag har gett dig befallning att låta honom gå, så att han kan hålla gudstjänst åt mig, men du har vägrat. Därför ska jag döda din förstfödde son.’ ”
24 Vid ett nattläger under resan kom Herren emot Mose[b] och ville döda honom. 25 Då tog Sippora en flintkniv och skar bort förhuden på sin son och vidrörde Moses[c] fötter med den och sa: ”Du är verkligen min blodsbrudgum.” 26 Sedan lät Herren honom vara.[d] Detta med blodsbrudgum sa hon med tanke på omskärelsen.
27 Vid samma tid sa Herren till Aron: ”Gå ut i öknen och möt Mose.” Aron gick ända till Horeb, Guds berg, där han träffade Mose och hälsade honom med en kyss. 28 Mose talade om för Aron allt som Herren hade sänt honom till att säga och alla de tecken han fått befallning om att utföra.
29 Mose och Aron gick sedan och sammankallade alla de äldste i Israel. 30 Aron berättade för dem vad Herren hade sagt till Mose och Mose utförde tecknen inför folket. 31 Då trodde folket, när de hörde att Herren tagit sig an dem och sett deras förtryck. De föll ned och tillbad.

4 —Ellos no me creerán, ni tampoco me harán caso —contestó Moisés—. Al contrario, me dirán: “El Señor no se te ha aparecido.”
2 —¿Qué es lo que tienes en la mano? —preguntó el Señor.
—Un bastón —contestó Moisés.
3 —Arrójalo al suelo —ordenó el Señor.
Moisés lo arrojó al suelo y, en ese mismo instante, el bastón se convirtió en una serpiente. Moisés echó a correr para alejarse de ella, 4 pero el Señor le dijo:
—Extiende la mano y agárrala de la cola.
Moisés extendió la mano y, al agarrarla, la serpiente se convirtió otra vez en bastón.
5 —Esto es para que crean que se te ha aparecido el Señor, Dios de tus antepasados, Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob 6 —dijo el Señor—. Y ahora, mete tu mano en el pecho.
Moisés metió su mano en el pecho y, al sacarla, vio que estaba enferma de lepra y blanca como la nieve. 7 Entonces Dios le dijo:
—Vuelve a meter tu mano en el pecho.
Moisés lo hizo así y, al sacar la mano de nuevo, ya estaba tan sana como todo su cuerpo. 8 Luego el Señor le dijo:
—Si con la primera señal no te creen ni te hacen caso, entonces te creerán con la segunda; 9 pero si no te creen ni te hacen caso con ninguna de estas dos señales, saca agua del río y derrámala sobre el suelo. En cuanto el agua que saques del río caiga al suelo, se convertirá en sangre.
10 —¡Ay, Señor! —respondió Moisés—. Yo no tengo facilidad de palabra, y esto no es sólo de ayer ni de ahora que estás hablando con este siervo tuyo, sino de tiempo atrás. Siempre que hablo, se me traba la lengua.
11 Pero el Señor le contestó:
—¿Y quién le ha dado la boca al hombre? ¿Quién si no yo lo hace mudo, sordo, ciego, o que pueda ver? 12 Así que, anda, que yo estaré contigo cuando hables, y te enseñaré lo que debes decir.
13 Moisés insistió:
—¡Ay, Señor, por favor, envía a alguna otra persona!
14 Entonces el Señor se enojó con Moisés, y le dijo:
—¡Pues ahí está tu hermano Aarón, el levita! Yo sé que él habla muy bien. Además él viene a tu encuentro, y se va a alegrar mucho de verte. 15 Habla con él, y explícale todo lo que tiene que decir; yo, por mi parte, estaré con él y contigo cuando hablen, y les daré instrucciones de lo que deben hacer. 16 Tú le hablarás a Aarón como si fuera yo mismo, y Aarón a su vez le comunicará al pueblo lo que le digas tú. 17 Llévate este bastón, porque con él harás cosas asombrosas.
Moisés regresa a Egipto
18 Moisés volvió a casa de su suegro Jetró, y le dijo:
—Tengo que regresar a Egipto, donde están mis hermanos de raza. Quiero ver si todavía viven.
—Anda, que te vaya bien —contestó Jetró.
19 Cuando Moisés estaba aún en la región de Madián, el Señor le dijo:
—Regresa a Egipto, porque ya han muerto todos los que querían matarte.
20 Moisés tomó entonces a su esposa y a su hijo, los montó en un asno y regresó a Egipto. En la mano llevaba el bastón de Dios. 21 Después el Señor le dijo a Moisés:
—Cuando llegues a Egipto, pon toda tu atención en hacer ante el faraón las maravillas que te he dado el poder de realizar. Yo, por mi parte, voy a hacer que él se ponga terco y que no deje salir a los israelitas. 22 Entonces le dirás al faraón: “Así dice el Señor: Israel es mi hijo mayor. 23 Ya te he dicho que dejes salir a mi hijo, para que vaya a adorarme; pero como no has querido dejarlo salir, yo voy a matar a tu hijo mayor.”
24 Durante el camino, en el lugar donde Moisés y su familia iban a pasar la noche, el Señor salió al encuentro de Moisés y quiso matarlo. 25 Entonces Séfora tomó un cuchillo de piedra y le cortó el prepucio a su hijo; luego, tocando con el prepucio del niño los pies de Moisés, le dijo: «En verdad, tú eres para mí un esposo de sangre.»
26 Entonces el Señor dejó ir a Moisés. Y Séfora dijo que Moisés era un esposo de sangre debido a la circuncisión.
27 Mientras tanto, el Señor le había dicho a Aarón: «Ve al desierto a encontrarte con Moisés.» Y Aarón fue y encontró a Moisés en el monte de Dios. Allí lo saludó con un beso. 28 Entonces Moisés le contó a Aarón todas las cosas que el Señor le había ordenado decir, y también las grandes maravillas que le mandaba hacer. 29 Luego fueron los dos a reunir a los ancianos de Israel, 30 y Aarón les contó todo lo que el Señor había dicho a Moisés, haciendo además ante la gente las maravillas que Dios le había ordenado hacer.
31 La gente quedó convencida. Y al saber que el Señor había puesto su atención en ellos y que había visto cómo sufrían, se inclinaron en actitud de adoración.

Signs for Moses
4 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen(A) to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”
2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
“A staff,”(B) he replied.
3 The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.”
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake,(C) and he ran from it. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. 5 “This,” said the Lord, “is so that they may believe(D) that the Lord, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”
6 Then the Lord said, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, the skin was leprous[a]—it had become as white as snow.(E)
7 “Now put it back into your cloak,” he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored,(F) like the rest of his flesh.
8 Then the Lord said, “If they do not believe(G) you or pay attention to the first sign,(H) they may believe the second. 9 But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood(I) on the ground.”
10 Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”(J)
11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute?(K) Who gives them sight or makes them blind?(L) Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go;(M) I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”(N)
13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”(O)
14 Then the Lord’s anger burned(P) against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet(Q) you, and he will be glad to see you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth;(R) I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth(S) and as if you were God to him.(T) 17 But take this staff(U) in your hand(V) so you can perform the signs(W) with it.”
Moses Returns to Egypt
18 Then Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Let me return to my own people in Egypt to see if any of them are still alive.”
Jethro said, “Go, and I wish you well.”
19 Now the Lord had said to Moses in Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill(X) you are dead.(Y)” 20 So Moses took his wife and sons,(Z) put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff(AA) of God in his hand.
21 The Lord said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders(AB) I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart(AC) so that he will not let the people go.(AD) 22 Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son,(AE) 23 and I told you, “Let my son go,(AF) so he may worship(AG) me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”(AH)
24 At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses[b] and was about to kill(AI) him. 25 But Zipporah(AJ) took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin(AK) and touched Moses’ feet with it.[c] “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said. 26 So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)
27 The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he met Moses at the mountain(AL) of God and kissed(AM) him. 28 Then Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and also about all the signs he had commanded him to perform.
29 Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders(AN) of the Israelites, 30 and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs(AO) before the people, 31 and they believed.(AP) And when they heard that the Lord was concerned(AQ) about them and had seen their misery,(AR) they bowed down and worshiped.(AS)

2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
5 That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
6 And the Lord said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
19 And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
21 And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
27 And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
