19 以色列人出埃及地以後，第三個月的初一，就在那一天他們來到了西奈的曠野。 2 他們從利非訂起程，來到西奈的曠野，在那裏的山下安營。 3 摩西到 神那裏，耶和華從山上呼喚他說：「你要這樣告訴雅各家，對以色列人說： 4 『我向埃及人所行的事，你們都看見了， 我如鷹將你們背在翅膀上，帶你們來歸我。 5 如今你們若真的聽從我的話，遵守我的約，就要在萬民中作屬我的子民[a]，因為全地都是我的。 6 你們要歸我作祭司的國度，為神聖的國民。』這些話你要告訴以色列人。」
7 摩西去召了百姓中的長老來，將耶和華吩咐他的話當面告訴他們。 8 百姓都同聲回答：「凡耶和華所說的，我們一定遵行。」摩西就將百姓的話回覆耶和華。 9 耶和華對摩西說：「看哪，我要在密雲中臨到你那裏，叫百姓在我與你說話的時候可以聽見，就可以永遠相信你了。」於是，摩西將百姓的話稟告耶和華。 10 耶和華對摩西說：「你往百姓那裏去，使他們今天明天分別為聖，又叫他們洗衣服。 11 第三天要預備好，因為第三天耶和華要在眾百姓眼前降臨在西奈山。 12 你要在山的周圍給百姓劃定界限，說：『你們當謹慎，不可上山去，也不可摸山的邊界。凡摸這山的，必被處死。 13 不可用手碰他，要用石頭打死，或射死；無論是人是牲畜，都不可活。』到角聲拉長的時候，他們才可到山腳來。」 14 摩西下山到百姓那裏去，使他們分別為聖，他們就洗衣服。 15 他對百姓說：「第三天要預備好；不可親近女人。」
16 到了第三天早晨，山上有雷轟、閃電和密雲，並且角聲非常響亮，營中的百姓盡都戰抖。 17 摩西率領百姓出營迎見 神，都站在山下。 18 西奈山全山冒煙，因為耶和華在火中降臨山上。山的煙霧上騰，彷彿燒窰，整座山劇烈震動。 19 角聲越來越響，摩西說話， 神以聲音回答他。 20 耶和華降臨在西奈山頂上，耶和華召摩西上山頂，摩西就上去了。 21 耶和華對摩西說：「你下去警告百姓，免得他們闖過來看耶和華，就會有許多人死亡。 22 那些親近耶和華的祭司也要把自己分別為聖，免得耶和華忽然出來擊殺他們。」 23 摩西對耶和華說：「百姓不能上西奈山，因為你已經警告我們說：『要在山的周圍劃定界限，使山成聖。』」 24 耶和華對他說：「下去吧，你要和亞倫一起上來；只是祭司和百姓不可闖上來到耶和華這裏，免得耶和華忽然出來擊殺他們。」 25 於是，摩西下到百姓那裏告訴他們。

19 Los israelitas llegaron al desierto del Sinaí el mismo día que llegó la Luna Nueva. O sea, durante el tercer mes de su viaje. 2 Viajaron desde Refidín hasta el desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en el desierto, frente al monte. 3 Moisés subió al monte y el SEÑOR le dijo:
—Diles todo esto a los israelitas, los descendientes de Jacob: 4 “Ustedes ya vieron lo que le hice a Egipto y que a ustedes los levanté como sobre alas de águila y los traje aquí, frente a mí. 5 Ahora bien, si en verdad ustedes me escuchan y me obedecen, yo los trataré a ustedes como mi propiedad preferida. O sea, si de veras cumplen mi pacto, aunque todos los pueblos del mundo me pertenecen, de entre todos ellos a ustedes los trataré como mi pueblo. 6 Ustedes serán un reino de sacerdotes, una nación santa”. Eso es lo que les dirás a los israelitas.
7 Moisés fue, reunió a los ancianos líderes, y les dijo todo lo que el SEÑOR le había ordenado. 8 Todo el pueblo respondió al mismo tiempo:
—Vamos a hacer todo lo que el SEÑOR dijo.
Entonces Moisés regresó a la montaña y le contó al SEÑOR lo que el pueblo había dicho.
9 El SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés:
—Voy a ir en una nube densa a donde tú estás para que el pueblo me escuche hablar contigo y así siempre te crean lo que les digas.
Luego Moisés le contó al SEÑOR todo lo que el pueblo le había dicho.
10 El SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés:
—Ve a donde está el pueblo, haz que hoy y mañana sean días santos y diles que laven sus ropas. 11 Deben estar listos para el tercer día porque ese día, a la vista de todo el pueblo, el SEÑOR vendrá al monte Sinaí. 12 Diles que no se acerquen a la montaña. Establece un límite y no dejes que el pueblo lo cruce porque el que llegue a tocar el monte será ejecutado. 13 Nadie deberá tocar al que haga eso y lo matarán lanzándole piedras o disparándole una flecha. Tendrá que morir, sin importar si es un ser humano o un animal. El pueblo podrá subir al monte sólo cuando suene la trompeta.
14 Entonces Moisés bajó del monte y fue a donde estaba el pueblo, los santificó y ellos lavaron sus ropas. 15 Luego les dijo:
—Estén listos para pasado mañana y no tengan relaciones sexuales durante estos tres días.
16 En la mañana del tercer día, una nube muy densa se colocó sobre el monte. Cayeron truenos y relámpagos y se escuchó el fuerte sonido de una trompeta. Todos los que estaban en el campamento temblaron. 17 Moisés llevó al pueblo fuera del campamento para encontrarse con Dios y ellos se detuvieron al pie del monte. 18 El monte Sinaí estaba totalmente cubierto de humo porque el SEÑOR había bajado sobre él entre el fuego. El humo subía como de un horno y todo el monte temblaba. 19 El sonido de trompeta se hacía cada vez más fuerte mientras que Moisés hablaba con Dios y él respondía con truenos.
20 El SEÑOR bajó hasta la cima del monte Sinaí y llamó a Moisés el SEÑOR para que subiera. Entonces Moisés subió.
21 El SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés:
—Baja y adviértele a la gente que no se acerque ni trate de pasar el límite para mirar al SEÑOR, pues si lo hacen muchos morirán. 22 Además, los sacerdotes que se acerquen a mí, el SEÑOR, deben santificarse para que yo, el SEÑOR, no los castigue.
23 Moisés le dijo al SEÑOR:
—Pero el pueblo no puede subir este monte, tú mismo nos dijiste que debíamos establecer un límite para evitar que el pueblo pasara y que debíamos considerarlo sagrado.
24 Entonces el SEÑOR le dijo:
—Baja a donde está todo el pueblo, busca a Aarón y tráelo aquí contigo, pero no dejes que ningún sacerdote ni nadie se acerque al SEÑOR. Yo castigaré al que se pase del límite.
25 Luego Moisés fue a donde estaba el pueblo y les contó todo esto.

19 In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
2 For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
3 And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord.
10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
20 And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
21 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them perish.
22 And let the priests also, which come near to the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break forth upon them.
23 And Moses said unto the Lord, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.
24 And the Lord said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord, lest he break forth upon them.
25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.
