1 俄巴底亞看到的異象。
耶和華懲罰以東
論到以東，
主耶和華這樣說：
「我們從耶和華那裡聽到消息，
有位使者被派到各國，說，
『來！我們去攻打以東吧！』」
2 耶和華對以東說：
「我要讓你成為列國中最弱小的國家，
使你飽受藐視。
3 你住在懸崖峭壁間，
住在高山上，
自以為誰也不能把你拉下來，
但你的驕傲欺騙了你。
4 即使你如鷹高飛，
在星辰間築巢，
我也必把你拉下來。
這是耶和華說的。
5 「盜賊深夜洗劫你的家，
不會洗劫一空；
人們摘葡萄，不會摘光；
但你會被徹底毀滅！
6 以掃[a]要被洗劫一空，
他藏的珍寶要被搜去。
7 你的盟友將你逐出家園；
你的朋友欺騙你，戰勝你；
你的知己設陷阱害你，
你卻懵然不知。」
8 耶和華說：「到那天，
我要毀滅以東的智者，
除掉以掃山上的明哲。
9 提幔的勇士必驚慌失措，
以掃山上的人盡遭殺戮。
懲罰以東的原因
10 「因你曾殘暴地對待同胞兄弟雅各，
你必蒙羞，永遭毀滅。
11 外族人掠奪雅各的財物，
攻入耶路撒冷抽籤分贓時，
你竟然袖手旁觀，
就像他們的同夥一樣。
12 你的親族遭難之日，
你不該幸災樂禍；
猶大人被滅的日子，
你不該興高采烈；
他們遭難的日子，
你不該口出狂言；
13 我子民遭難的日子，
你不該闖進他們的城；
他們遭難的日子，
你不該幸災樂禍；
他們遭難的日子，
你不該趁火打劫；
14 你不該站在路口截殺那些逃亡者；
他們遭難的日子，
你不該把倖存者交給仇敵。
15 「耶和華懲罰萬國的日子近了。
必按你的所作所為報應你，
你的惡行必落到自己頭上。
16 你們猶大人在我的聖山上怎樣飽飲憤怒，
萬國也要照樣飲，
且要大口吞下，
直到他們完全消逝。
以色列的復興
17 「然而，錫安山必成為避難所，
成為聖地。
雅各家必得到自己的產業。
18 雅各家將成為火，
約瑟家將成為烈焰，
以掃家將成為碎稭，
被火焚燒、吞噬，無一人逃脫。
這是耶和華說的。
19 「南地的人將佔領以掃山；
丘陵的人將佔領非利士，
奪取以法蓮和撒瑪利亞；
便雅憫人將佔領基列。
20 被擄的以色列人將返回家園，
佔領遠至撒勒法一帶的土地；
從耶路撒冷被擄到西法拉的人將佔領南地各城。
21 拯救者必登上錫安山，
統治以掃山，
耶和華必做王掌權。」

1 Prophétie d'Abdias. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel, sur Édom: -Nous avons appris une nouvelle de la part de l'Éternel, Et un messager a été envoyé parmi les nations: Levez-vous, marchons contre Édom pour lui faire la guerre! -
2 Voici, je te rendrai petit parmi les nations, Tu seras l'objet du plus grand mépris.
3 L'orgueil de ton coeur t'a égaré, Toi qui habites le creux des rochers, Qui t'assieds sur les hauteurs, Et qui dis en toi-même: Qui me précipitera jusqu'à terre?
4 Quand tu placerais ton nid aussi haut que celui de l'aigle, Quand tu le placerais parmi les étoiles, Je t'en précipiterai, dit l'Éternel.
5 Si des voleurs, des pillards, viennent de nuit chez toi, Comme te voilà dévasté! Mais enlèvent-ils plus qu'ils ne peuvent? Si des vendangeurs viennent chez toi, Ne laissent-ils rien à grappiller?...
6 Ah! comme Ésaü est fouillé! Comme ses trésors sont découverts!
7 Tous tes alliés t'ont chassé jusqu'à la frontière, Tes amis t'ont joué, t'ont dominé, Ceux qui mangeaient ton pain t'ont dressé des pièges, Et tu n'as pas su t'en apercevoir!
8 N'est-ce pas en ce jour, dit l'Éternel, Que je ferai disparaître d'Édom les sages, Et de la montagne d'Ésaü l'intelligence?
9 Tes guerriers, ô Théman, seront dans l'épouvante, Car tous ceux de la montagne d'Ésaü périront dans le carnage.
10 A cause de ta violence contre ton frère Jacob, Tu seras couvert de honte, Et tu seras exterminé pour toujours.
11 Le jour où tu te tenais en face de lui, Le jour où des étrangers emmenaient captive son armée, Où des étrangers entraient dans ses portes, Et jetaient le sort sur Jérusalem, Toi aussi tu étais comme l'un d'eux.
12 Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton frère, du jour de son malheur, Ne te réjouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la détresse!
13 N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine!
14 Ne te tiens pas au carrefour pour exterminer ses fuyards, Et ne livre pas ses réchappés au jour de la détresse!
15 Car le jour de l'Éternel est proche, pour toutes les nations; Il te sera fait comme tu as fait, Tes oeuvres retomberont sur ta tête.
16 Car, comme vous avez bu sur ma montagne sainte, Ainsi toutes les nations boiront sans cesse; Elles boiront, elles avaleront, Et elles seront comme si elles n'avaient jamais été.
17 Mais le salut sera sur la montagne de Sion, elle sera sainte, Et la maison de Jacob reprendra ses possessions.
18 La maison de Jacob sera un feu, et la maison de Joseph une flamme; Mais la maison d'Ésaü sera du chaume, Qu'elles allumeront et consumeront; Et il ne restera rien de la maison d'Ésaü, Car l'Éternel a parlé.
19 Ceux du midi posséderont la montagne d'Ésaü, Et ceux de la plaine le pays des Philistins; Ils posséderont le territoire d'Éphraïm et celui de Samarie; Et Benjamin possédera Galaad.
20 Les captifs de cette armée des enfants d'Israël Posséderont le pays occupé par les Cananéens jusqu'à Sarepta, Et les captifs de Jérusalem qui sont à Sepharad Posséderont les villes du midi.
21 Des libérateurs monteront sur la montagne de Sion, Pour juger la montagne d'Ésaü; Et à l'Éternel appartiendra le règne.

Obadiah’s Vision(A)(B)
1 The vision(C) of Obadiah.
This is what the Sovereign Lord says about Edom(D)—
We have heard a message from the Lord:
An envoy(E) was sent to the nations to say,
“Rise, let us go against her for battle”(F)—
2 “See, I will make you small(G) among the nations;
you will be utterly despised.
3 The pride(H) of your heart has deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks[a](I)
and make your home on the heights,
you who say to yourself,
‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’(J)
4 Though you soar like the eagle
and make your nest(K) among the stars,
from there I will bring you down,”(L)
declares the Lord.(M)
5 “If thieves came to you,
if robbers in the night—
oh, what a disaster awaits you!—
would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
If grape pickers came to you,
would they not leave a few grapes?(N)
6 But how Esau will be ransacked,
his hidden treasures pillaged!
7 All your allies(O) will force you to the border;
your friends will deceive and overpower you;
those who eat your bread(P) will set a trap for you,[b]
but you will not detect it.
8 “In that day,” declares the Lord,
“will I not destroy(Q) the wise men of Edom,
those of understanding in the mountains of Esau?
9 Your warriors, Teman,(R) will be terrified,
and everyone in Esau’s mountains
will be cut down in the slaughter.
10 Because of the violence(S) against your brother Jacob,(T)
you will be covered with shame;
you will be destroyed forever.(U)
11 On the day you stood aloof
while strangers carried off his wealth
and foreigners entered his gates
and cast lots(V) for Jerusalem,
you were like one of them.(W)
12 You should not gloat(X) over your brother
in the day of his misfortune,(Y)
nor rejoice(Z) over the people of Judah
in the day of their destruction,(AA)
nor boast(AB) so much
in the day of their trouble.(AC)
13 You should not march through the gates of my people
in the day of their disaster,
nor gloat over them in their calamity(AD)
in the day of their disaster,
nor seize their wealth
in the day of their disaster.
14 You should not wait at the crossroads
to cut down their fugitives,(AE)
nor hand over their survivors
in the day of their trouble.
15 “The day of the Lord is near(AF)
for all nations.
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds(AG) will return upon your own head.
16 Just as you drank(AH) on my holy hill,(AI)
so all the nations will drink(AJ) continually;
they will drink and drink
and be as if they had never been.(AK)
17 But on Mount Zion will be deliverance;(AL)
it will be holy,(AM)
and Jacob will possess his inheritance.(AN)
18 Jacob will be a fire
and Joseph a flame;
Esau will be stubble,
and they will set him on fire(AO) and destroy(AP) him.
There will be no survivors(AQ)
from Esau.”
The Lord has spoken.
19 People from the Negev will occupy
the mountains of Esau,
and people from the foothills will possess
the land of the Philistines.(AR)
They will occupy the fields of Ephraim and Samaria,(AS)
and Benjamin(AT) will possess Gilead.
20 This company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan
will possess the land as far as Zarephath;(AU)
the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad
will possess the towns of the Negev.(AV)
21 Deliverers(AW) will go up on[c] Mount Zion
to govern the mountains of Esau.
And the kingdom will be the Lord’s.(AX)
