保罗前往耶路撒冷

21 我们和众人道别之后，乘船直接驶往哥士，第二天到达罗底，从那里前往帕大喇， 2 在帕大喇遇到一艘开往腓尼基的船，就上了船。 3 塞浦路斯遥遥在望，船从该岛的南面绕过，一直驶向叙利亚。因为船要在泰尔卸货，我们就在那里上了岸， 4 找到当地的门徒后，便和他们同住了七天。他们受圣灵的感动力劝保罗不要去耶路撒冷。 5 时间到了，我们继续前行，众门徒和他们的妻子儿女送我们出城。大家跪在岸边祷告之后，彼此道别。 6 我们上了船，众人也回家去了。

7 我们从泰尔乘船抵达多利买，上岸探访那里的弟兄姊妹，和他们住了一天。 8 第二天我们离开那里，来到凯撒利亚，住在传道人腓利家里。他是当初选出的七位执事之一。 9 腓利有四个未出嫁的女儿，都能说预言。 10 过了几天，一个名叫亚迦布的先知从犹太下来。 11 他到了我们这里，拿保罗的腰带绑住自己的手脚，说：“圣灵说，‘耶路撒冷的犹太人也要这样捆绑这腰带的主人，把他交给外族人。’”

12 听到这话，我们和当地的信徒都苦劝保罗不要去耶路撒冷。 13 但保罗说：“你们为什么这样哭泣，令我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名甘愿受捆绑，甚至死在耶路撒冷。”

14 我们知道再劝也无济于事，只好对他说：“愿主的旨意成就。”

15 过了几天，我们收拾行装启程上耶路撒冷。 16 有几个凯撒利亚的门徒和我们一起去，并带我们到一个信主已久的塞浦路斯人拿孙家里住宿。

保罗会见雅各和众长老

17 我们抵达耶路撒冷后，受到弟兄姊妹的热烈欢迎。 18 第二天，保罗和我们去见雅各，众长老都在那里。 19 保罗向大家问安之后，便一一述说上帝如何借着他传福音给外族人。 20 大家听了，都同声赞美上帝，又对保罗说：“弟兄，你知道数以万计的犹太人信了主，他们都严守律法。 21 他们听见有人说你教导住在外族人中的犹太人背弃摩西的律法，不替孩子行割礼，也不遵守犹太人的规矩。 22 他们一定会听到你来这里的消息，这该怎么办？ 23 请你听我们的建议，这里有四位向上帝许过愿的弟兄， 24 你和他们一起去行洁净礼，并由你替他们付费，让他们可以剃头，好叫众人知道你严守律法，循规蹈矩，关于你的传闻都是假的。 25 至于那些外族信徒，我们已经写信吩咐他们，不可吃祭过偶像的食物，不可吃血和勒死的牲畜，不可淫乱。”

保罗被捕

26 于是，保罗和四位弟兄第二天行了洁净礼，然后上圣殿报告他们洁净期满的日子，好在期满后让祭司为他们每个人献祭物。 27 当七日的洁净期将满的时候，有些从亚细亚来的犹太人发现保罗在圣殿里，就煽动众人去抓他。 28 他们高喊：“以色列人快来帮忙！就是这人到处教唆人反对我们的民族、律法和圣殿。他还带希腊人进圣殿，玷污这圣地。” 29 这是因为他们在城里见过一个名叫特罗非摩的以弗所人和保罗在一起，以为保罗一定把他带进圣殿了。

30 消息一传开，全城轰动。众人冲进圣殿把保罗拉出来，随即关上殿门。 31 正当他们要杀保罗的时候，有人把耶路撒冷发生骚乱的消息报告给罗马军营的千夫长， 32 千夫长马上带着军兵和几个百夫长赶来了。众人一见千夫长和军队，便停止殴打保罗。 33 千夫长上前拿住保罗，命人用两条铁链把他锁起来，问他是什么人、做了什么事。 34 人群中有人这样喊，有人那样喊，情形混乱不堪，千夫长无法辨明真相，便命人将保罗带回军营。 35 保罗刚走上台阶，众人便凶猛地拥挤过来，士兵们只好把他举起来抬着走。 36 众人挤在后面喊着说：“杀掉他！”

保罗的申辩

37 士兵们抬着保罗来到军营门口，保罗问千夫长：“我可以和你讲几句话吗？”千夫长说：“你也懂希腊话吗？ 38 不久前煽动叛乱、带着四千暴徒逃到旷野去的那个埃及人是你吗？” 39 保罗说：“我是犹太人，来自基利迦的大数，并非无名小城的人。请准许我向百姓讲几句话。” 40 千夫长答应了，保罗就站在台阶上向众人挥手示意，他们都安静下来，保罗用希伯来话对他们说：

保罗去耶路撒冷

21 告别长老之后，我们便开船径直到了哥士。第二天，又到了罗底，从那里我们又去了帕大喇。 2 我们发现有一条开往腓尼基的船，就上船出发了。 3 当我们看得见塞浦路斯时，便从它的南边绕了过去向叙利亚开去。我们在推罗登陆，因为船得在那里卸货。 4 在推罗，我们找到了一些门徒，和他们在一起住了七天。他们借助圣灵告诉保罗不要去耶路撒冷。 5 当逗留的时间一过，我们便离开推罗，又上路了。那里所有的信徒与他们的妻子和孩子，陪着我们出了城来到海边，我们跪下来祈告。 6 我们大家相互告别后，我们便登上了船，他们则回家去了。

7 我们从推罗继续我们的航行，在多利买上岸。问候那里的弟兄们，并和他们在一起呆了一天。 8 第二天我们离开那里，来到了该撒利亚，进了传道人腓利家里，并和他同住。他是被选出的七名助手之一。 9 他有四个女儿，她们都是处女，她们凭上帝的启示都有预言的天赋。 10 在那里住了许多日子后，从犹太地区来了一位先知，名叫亚迦布。 11 他来到我们这里，拿起保罗的腰带把自己的手和脚都捆了起来，说∶“圣灵是这样说的∶‘耶路撒冷的犹太人会把系这条腰带的人，像这样绑起来交给外族人。’”

14 既然我们无法说服他，就停止乞求他，只说∶“让主的意愿得以实现吧。”

15 这以后，我们便做好了准备，到耶路撒冷去了。 16 该撒利亚的一些门徒与我们同行，他们把我们带到了拿孙家里去住。拿孙是塞浦路斯人，他是早期的门徒。

保罗拜访雅各

17 我们到达耶路撒冷时，受到兄弟们的热情接待。 18 第二天，保罗与我们一起去看望雅各。所有的长老都在场， 19 保罗问候了他们，然后，把上帝通过他在外族人中所做的事情一一向他们做了汇报， 20 听完，他们都赞美上帝。他们对保罗说∶“兄弟，你看成为信徒的犹太人数以万计，他们都热衷于律法。 21 他们听说了关于你的事，说你教导住在外族人中间所有的犹太人，放弃摩西的律法，叫他们既不为他们的孩子行割礼 [a]，也不遵守我们的风俗。 22 那么该如何是好呢？他们肯定将会听说，你已经到这来了。 23 那么，就照我们告诉你们的去做吧：我们这里有四个向上帝许过愿的人。 24 你带着这些人，和他们一同去行洁净仪式，并且付费让他们剃头。然后，大家就会知道，他们听到关于你的事情，都是不实之辞，并且知道你自己也是遵守律法的。 25 至于外族的信徒，我们已把决定写信给他们了，吩咐他们：

不可吃任何祭过偶像的食物，
不可吃血或勒死的牲畜，
也不可有不道德的性行为。”

保罗被捕

26 于是保罗带上了那四个人。第二天又与他们一起行了洁净礼。然后，他走进大殿院，通知祭司洁净礼将要在什么时刻结束和代表每个人献祭的日期。

27 这七天快要过去的时候，一些亚西亚的犹太人在大殿院里见到他，就煽动整个人群把保罗抓了起来。 28 他们喊道∶“噢，以色列人啊，请帮忙！就是这个人，他到处教唆人们，反对我们的人民、律法和这所大殿。并且现在他甚至把外族人带进了大殿。他亵渎了这个神圣的地方。” 29 他们这么说，是因为他们在城里时，看见以弗所人特罗非摩和保罗在一起，于是，便猜想，保罗把他带进过大殿院。

30 整个城市骚动起来。人们都跑过来拥在一起，他们抓住保罗，把他拽出了大殿院，大殿院的门立刻都关上了。 31 那些人正想要杀保罗时，罗马军队的指挥官得到报告，说耶路撒冷全境都陷入了混乱之中。 32 他便立即带着官兵，赶到攻击保罗的人群那里。当那些犹太人看到指挥官和士兵们，便停止殴打保罗。 33 指挥官走到保罗跟前，逮捕了他，还下令给他戴上了两条锁链。然后，他才问保罗是谁，并做了什么事情。 34 人群里人们叫喊不一，因为混乱，指挥官无法查出真相，便下令把保罗押到兵营里去。 35 保罗来到台阶时，因为人群的凶暴，不得不由士兵们把他抬起来走， 36 人群跟着他们，并叫喊着∶“杀了他！”

37 当保罗就要被带进城堡时，保罗对指挥官说∶“我可以对你说话吗？”

指挥官说∶“你懂希腊语吗？ 38 那么你不是那个前些时候，挑动暴乱并带领四千个恐怖分子跑到旷野里去的那个埃及人了？”

39 保罗说道∶“我是犹太人，从基利家的大数来。我是一个重要城市的公民。请你让我对那些人说话。”

40 指挥官同意了，保罗便站在台阶上，向人们挥了挥手。一切安静下来之后，保罗用阿拉米语 [b]对人们讲话。

保羅報告工作的情況

17 我們到了耶路撒冷，弟兄們歡歡喜喜接待我們。 18 第二天，保羅和我們一同去見雅各，長老們也都在座。 19 保羅問候了他們，就把　神藉著他的工作在外族人中所行的事，一一述說出來。 20 他們聽了，就讚美　神，對保羅說：“弟兄，你看，猶太人中信主的有好幾萬，都是對律法很熱心的人。 21 他們聽說，你教導所有在外族人中的猶太人背棄摩西，叫他們不要給孩子行割禮，也不要遵守規例。 22 他們總會聽見你來了，那怎麼辦呢？ 23 你就照我們的話作吧，我們這裡有四個人，都有願在身。 24 你把他們帶去，和他們一同行潔淨禮，並且替他們付錢，讓他們剃去頭髮，這樣大家就知道以前所聽見關於你的事，都不是真實的，也知道你是遵守律法循規蹈矩而行的人。 25 至於信主的外族人，我們已經寫了信，吩咐他們要禁戒祭偶像的食物、血、勒死的牲畜和淫亂。” 26 保羅就把那幾個人帶走了，第二天和他們一同行了潔淨禮。他們進了殿，報明了他們潔淨期滿的日子，以及各人獻祭的時間。

保羅在聖殿被猶太人捉住

27 七日將完的時候，從亞西亞來的猶太人看見保羅在殿裡，就煽動群眾，並且捉住他， 28 喊叫著說：“以色列人哪，快來幫忙！這個人到處教導眾人反對人民，反對律法和這個地方，他甚至把希臘人也帶進殿裡，污穢了這聖地。” 29 原來他們看見過以弗所人特羅非摩同保羅在城裡，就以為保羅帶他進了殿。 30 於是全城震動，民眾一齊跑來，捉住保羅，拉出殿外，殿門就立刻關起來了。 31 他們正想殺他的時候，有人報告營部的千夫長，說：“整個耶路撒冷都亂了！” 32 千夫長立刻帶著一些百夫長和士兵跑到他們那裡。眾人一看見千夫長和士兵，就停止毆打保羅。 33 於是千夫長上前捉住保羅，吩咐人用兩條鐵鍊捆住他，問他是甚麼人，作過甚麼事。 34 那時眾人叫這個喊那個，吵吵鬧鬧，以致千夫長沒有辦法知道真相，只好下令把保羅帶到營樓去。 35 保羅到了臺階下面的時候，士兵把他抬起來，因為群眾猛擠， 36 而且有一群人跟在後面叫喊：“幹掉他！”

Paul Sails from Miletus

21 When (A)we had parted from them and had set sail, we ran (B)a straight course to Cos and the next day to Rhodes and from there to Patara; 2 and having found a ship crossing over to (C)Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. 3 When we came in sight of (D)Cyprus, leaving it on the left, we kept sailing to (E)Syria and landed at (F)Tyre; for there the ship was to unload its cargo. 4 After looking up (G)the disciples, we stayed there seven days; and they kept telling Paul [a](H)through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem. 5 When [b]our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, (I)escorted us until we were out of the city. After (J)kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. 6 Then we went on board the ship, and they returned (K)home again.

7 When we had finished the voyage from (L)Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais, and after greeting (M)the brethren, we stayed with them for a day. 8 On the next day we left and came to (N)Caesarea, and entering the house of (O)Philip the (P)evangelist, who was (Q)one of the seven, we stayed with him. 9 Now this man had four virgin daughters who were (R)prophetesses. 10 As we were staying there for some days, a prophet named (S)Agabus came down from Judea. 11 And coming to us, he (T)took Paul’s belt and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This (U)is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews at Jerusalem will (V)bind the man who owns this belt and (W)deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’” 12 When we had heard this, we as well as the local residents began begging him (X)not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For (Y)I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die at Jerusalem for (Z)the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 And since he would not be persuaded, we fell silent, remarking, “(AA)The will of the Lord be done!”

15 After these days we got ready and (AB)started on our way up to Jerusalem. 16 Some of (AC)the disciples from (AD)Caesarea also came with us, taking us to Mnason of (AE)Cyprus, a (AF)disciple of long standing with whom we were to lodge.

17 After we arrived in Jerusalem, (AG)the brethren received us gladly. 18 And the following day Paul went in with us to [c](AH)James, and all (AI)the elders were present. 19 After he had greeted them, he (AJ)began to relate one by one the things which God had done among the Gentiles through his (AK)ministry. 20 And when they heard it they began (AL)glorifying God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many [d]thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all (AM)zealous for the Law; 21 and they have been told about you, that you are (AN)teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them (AO)not to circumcise their children nor to [e]walk according to (AP)the customs. 22 What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. 23 Therefore do this that we tell you. We have four men who [f](AQ)are under a vow; 24 take them and (AR)purify yourself along with them, and [g]pay their expenses so that they may (AS)shave their [h]heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law. 25 But concerning the Gentiles who have believed, we wrote, (AT)having decided that they should abstain from [i]meat sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from fornication.” 26 Then Paul [j]took the men, and the next day, (AU)purifying himself along with them, (AV)went into the temple giving notice of the completion of the days of purification, until the sacrifice was offered for each one of them.

Paul Seized in the Temple

27 When (AW)the seven days were almost over, (AX)the Jews from [k](AY)Asia, upon seeing him in the temple, began to stir up all the crowd and laid hands on him, 28 crying out, “Men of Israel, come to our aid! (AZ)This is the man who preaches to all men everywhere against our people and the Law and this place; and besides he has even brought Greeks into the temple and has (BA)defiled this holy place.” 29 For they had previously seen (BB)Trophimus the (BC)Ephesian in the city with him, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. 30 Then all the city was provoked, and [l]the people rushed together, and taking hold of Paul they (BD)dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. 31 While they were seeking to kill him, a report came up to the [m]commander of the (BE)Roman [n]cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion. 32 At once he (BF)took along some soldiers and centurions and ran down to them; and when they saw the [o]commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 Then the [p]commander came up and took hold of him, and ordered him to be (BG)bound with (BH)two chains; and he began asking who he was and what he had done. 34 But among the crowd (BI)some were shouting one thing and some another, and when he could not find out the [q]facts because of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into (BJ)the barracks. 35 When he got to (BK)the stairs, he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the [r]mob; 36 for the multitude of the people kept following them, shouting, “(BL)Away with him!”

37 As Paul was about to be brought into (BM)the barracks, he said to the [s]commander, “May I say something to you?” And he *said, “Do you know Greek? 38 Then you are not (BN)the Egyptian who some [t]time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out (BO)into the wilderness?” 39 But Paul said, “(BP)I am a Jew of Tarsus in (BQ)Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.” 40 When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on (BR)the stairs, (BS)motioned to the people with his hand; and when there [u]was a great hush, he spoke to them in the [v](BT)Hebrew dialect, saying,

On to Jerusalem

21 After we(A) had torn ourselves away from them, we put out to sea and sailed straight to Kos. The next day we went to Rhodes and from there to Patara. 2 We found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia,(B) went on board and set sail. 3 After sighting Cyprus and passing to the south of it, we sailed on to Syria.(C) We landed at Tyre, where our ship was to unload its cargo. 4 We sought out the disciples(D) there and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit(E) they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 5 When it was time to leave, we left and continued on our way. All of them, including wives and children, accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.(F) 6 After saying goodbye to each other, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home.

7 We continued our voyage from Tyre(G) and landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and sisters(H) and stayed with them for a day. 8 Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea(I) and stayed at the house of Philip(J) the evangelist,(K) one of the Seven. 9 He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.(L)

10 After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus(M) came down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says,(N) ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind(O) the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”(P)

12 When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die(Q) in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”(R) 14 When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up(S) and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”(T)

15 After this, we started on our way up to Jerusalem.(U) 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea(V) accompanied us and brought us to the home of Mnason, where we were to stay. He was a man from Cyprus(W) and one of the early disciples.

Paul’s Arrival at Jerusalem

17 When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters(X) received us warmly.(Y) 18 The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James,(Z) and all the elders(AA) were present. 19 Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles(AB) through his ministry.(AC)

20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous(AD) for the law.(AE) 21 They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses,(AF) telling them not to circumcise their children(AG) or live according to our customs.(AH) 22 What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come, 23 so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow.(AI) 24 Take these men, join in their purification rites(AJ) and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved.(AK) Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. 25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.”(AL)

26 The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.(AM)

Paul Arrested

27 When the seven days were nearly over, some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They stirred up the whole crowd and seized him,(AN) 28 shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help us! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.”(AO) 29 (They had previously seen Trophimus(AP) the Ephesian(AQ) in the city with Paul and assumed that Paul had brought him into the temple.)

30 The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. Seizing Paul,(AR) they dragged him(AS) from the temple, and immediately the gates were shut. 31 While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar. 32 He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.(AT)

33 The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound(AU) with two(AV) chains.(AW) Then he asked who he was and what he had done. 34 Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another,(AX) and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.(AY) 35 When Paul reached the steps,(AZ) the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers. 36 The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”(BA)

Paul Speaks to the Crowd(BB)

37 As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks,(BC) he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?”

“Do you speak Greek?” he replied. 38 “Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the wilderness(BD) some time ago?”(BE)

39 Paul answered, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus(BF) in Cilicia,(BG) a citizen of no ordinary city. Please let me speak to the people.”

40 After receiving the commander’s permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned(BH) to the crowd. When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic[a]:(BI)
