安提阿的教会
19 司提凡殉道后，信徒们因受迫害而四散到各处，远至腓尼基、塞浦路斯和安提阿，他们只向那里的犹太人传福音。 20 不过，有些塞浦路斯和古利奈的信徒到了安提阿之后，也向希腊人传讲主耶稣的福音。 21 上帝的能力伴随着他们，有许多人信了主。

11 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

11 Les apôtres et les frères qui habitaient la Judée apprirent que les non-Juifs venaient d’accepter la Parole de Dieu. 2 Et dès que Pierre fut de retour à Jérusalem, les croyants d’origine juive lui firent des reproches : 3 Comment ! lui dirent-ils, tu es entré chez des incirconcis et tu as mangé avec eux !
4 Mais Pierre se mit à leur exposer, point par point, ce qui s’était passé.
5 – Pendant mon séjour à Jaffa, dit-il, j’étais en train de prier, quand je suis tombé en extase et j’ai eu une vision : une sorte de grande toile, tenue aux quatre coins, est descendue du ciel et elle est venue tout près de moi. 6 J’ai regardé attentivement ce qu’il y avait dedans et j’ai vu des quadrupèdes, des bêtes sauvages, des reptiles et des oiseaux. 7 J’ai entendu alors une voix qui me disait : « Lève-toi, Pierre, tue ces bêtes et mange-les. » 8 Mais j’ai répondu : « Oh ! non, Seigneur, car jamais de ma vie je n’ai rien mangé de souillé ou d’impur. » 9 La voix céleste s’est fait entendre une deuxième fois : « Ce que Dieu a déclaré pur, ce n’est pas à toi de le considérer comme impur. »
10 Cela est arrivé trois fois, puis tout a disparu dans le ciel.
11 Et voilà qu’au même moment trois hommes sont arrivés à la maison où nous nous trouvions[a]. Ils venaient de Césarée et avaient été envoyés vers moi. 12 Alors l’Esprit me dit d’aller avec eux sans hésiter. Je pris donc avec moi les six frères que voici et nous nous sommes rendus chez cet homme.
13 Celui-ci nous a raconté qu’un ange lui était apparu dans sa maison et lui avait dit : « Envoie quelqu’un à Jaffa pour faire venir chez toi Simon, surnommé Pierre. 14 Il te dira comment toi et tous les tiens vous serez sauvés. »
15 J’ai donc commencé à leur parler, quand l’Esprit Saint est descendu sur eux, de la même manière qu’il était descendu sur nous au commencement. 16 Aussitôt, je me suis souvenu de cette parole du Seigneur :
Jean a baptisé dans de l’eau, mais vous,
vous serez baptisés dans le Saint-Esprit.
17 Puisque Dieu leur a accordé le même don qu’à nous quand nous avons cru, qui étais-je, moi, pour pouvoir m’opposer à Dieu ?
18 Ce récit les apaisa et ils louèrent Dieu et dirent : Dieu a aussi donné aux non-Juifs de changer pour recevoir la vie.
La Parole annoncée aux non-Juifs à Antioche
19 Les disciples s’étaient dispersés lors de la persécution survenue après la mort d’Etienne. Ils allèrent jusqu’en Phénicie, dans l’île de Chypre et à Antioche[b], mais ils n’annonçaient la Parole qu’aux Juifs. 20 Toutefois, quelques-uns d’entre eux, qui étaient originaires de Chypre et de Cyrène, se rendirent à Antioche et s’adressèrent aussi aux non-Juifs[c] en leur annonçant le Seigneur Jésus. 21 Or le Seigneur était avec eux ; un grand nombre de personnes crurent et se convertirent au Seigneur.
22 Bientôt l’Eglise qui était à Jérusalem apprit la nouvelle. Elle envoya Barnabas à Antioche. 23 A son arrivée, il constata ce que la grâce de Dieu avait accompli et il en fut rempli de joie. Il encouragea donc tous les croyants à rester fidèles au Seigneur avec une ferme assurance. 24 Barnabas était en effet un homme bienveillant, rempli d’Esprit Saint et de foi. Et un grand nombre de personnes s’attachèrent au Seigneur. 25 Barnabas se rendit alors à Tarse pour y chercher Saul. Quand il l’eut trouvé, il l’amena avec lui à Antioche. 26 Ils passèrent toute une année à travailler ensemble dans l’Eglise et enseignèrent beaucoup de gens. C’est à Antioche que, pour la première fois, les disciples de Jésus furent appelés « chrétiens ».
27 A cette même époque, des prophètes se rendirent de Jérusalem à Antioche. 28 L’un d’eux, nommé Agabus, se leva et prédit sous l’inspiration de l’Esprit qu’une grande famine sévirait bientôt dans le monde entier[d]. Elle eut lieu, en effet, sous le règne de l’empereur Claude[e]. 29 Les disciples d’Antioche décidèrent alors de donner, chacun selon ses moyens, et d’envoyer des secours aux frères qui habitaient la Judée. 30 C’est ce qu’ils firent : ils envoyèrent leurs dons aux responsables de l’Eglise par l’intermédiaire de Barnabas et de Saul[f].

11 1-2 En toda la región de Judea se supo que también los que no eran judíos habían recibido el mensaje de Dios. Así que, cuando Pedro regresó a Jerusalén, los apóstoles y los seguidores judíos se pusieron a discutir con él. 3 Y le reclamaron:
—¡Tú entraste en la casa de gente que no es judía, y hasta comiste con ellos!
4 Pedro empezó a explicarles todo lo que había pasado:
5 —Un día, yo estaba orando en el puerto de Jope. De pronto, tuve una visión: Vi que del cielo bajaba algo como un gran manto, colgado de las cuatro puntas. 6 Miré con atención, y en el manto había toda clase de animales domésticos y salvajes, y también serpientes y aves. 7 Luego oí la voz de Dios, que me dijo: “Pedro, levántate; mata y come de estos animales.”
8 »Yo le respondí: “¡No, Señor, de ninguna manera! Nuestra ley no nos permite comer carne de esos animales. Yo jamás he comido alimentos prohibidos.”
9 »Pero Dios me dijo: “Si yo digo que puedes comer de estos animales, no digas que eso es malo.”
10 »Esto ocurrió tres veces. Luego Dios retiró el manto y lo devolvió al cielo. 11 Poco después llegaron tres hombres, que fueron a buscarme desde Cesarea. 12 El Espíritu Santo me dijo que fuera con ellos y que no tuviera miedo. Seis miembros de la iglesia de Jope fueron conmigo.
»Al llegar a Cesarea, entramos en la casa de Cornelio. 13 Él nos contó que un ángel del Señor se le había aparecido y le había dicho: “Envía unos mensajeros a Jope, para que hagan venir a un hombre llamado Pedro. 14 El mensaje que él te va a dar hará que se salven tú y toda tu familia.”
15 »Yo empecé a hablarles, y de pronto el Espíritu Santo vino sobre todos ellos, así como nos ocurrió a nosotros al principio. 16 Y me acordé de que el Señor Jesús nos había dicho: “Juan bautizó con agua, pero a ustedes Dios los va a bautizar con el Espíritu Santo.”
17 »Entonces pensé: “Dios le ha dado a esta gente el mismo regalo que nos dio a nosotros los judíos, porque creímos en Jesús, el Mesías y Señor.” Y yo no soy más poderoso que Dios para ponerme en contra de lo que él ha decidido hacer.»
18 Cuando los hermanos judíos oyeron esto, dejaron de discutir y se pusieron a alabar a Dios. Y decían muy admirados: «¡Así que también a los que no son judíos Dios les ha permitido arrepentirse y tener vida eterna!»
La buena noticia llega a Antioquía
19 Después de la muerte de Esteban, los seguidores de Jesús fueron perseguidos y maltratados. Por eso muchos de ellos huyeron a la región de Fenicia y a la isla de Chipre, y hasta el puerto de Antioquía. En todos esos lugares, ellos anunciaban las buenas noticias de Jesús solamente a la gente judía. 20 Sin embargo, algunos de Chipre y otros de Cirene fueron a Antioquía y anunciaron el mensaje del Señor Jesús también a los que no eran judíos. 21 Y Dios les dio poder y los ayudó para que muchos aceptaran el mensaje y creyeran en Jesús.
22 Los de la iglesia de Jerusalén supieron lo que estaba pasando en Antioquía, y enseguida mandaron para allá a Bernabé. 23-24 Bernabé era un hombre bueno, que tenía el poder del Espíritu Santo y confiaba solamente en el Señor. Cuando Bernabé llegó y vio que Dios había bendecido a toda esa gente, se alegró mucho y los animó para que siguieran siendo fieles y obedientes al Señor. Y fueron muchos los que escucharon a Bernabé y obedecieron el mensaje de Dios.
25 De allí, Bernabé se fue a la ciudad de Tarso, para buscar a Saulo.[a] 26 Cuando lo encontró, lo llevó a Antioquía. Allí estuvieron un año con toda la gente de la iglesia, y enseñaron a muchas personas. Fue allí, en Antioquía, donde por primera vez la gente comenzó a llamar cristianos a los seguidores de Jesús.
27 En ese tiempo, unos profetas fueron de Jerusalén a Antioquía. 28 Uno de ellos, llamado Agabo, recibió la ayuda del Espíritu Santo y anunció que mucha gente en el mundo no tendría nada para comer. Y esto ocurrió, en verdad, cuando el emperador Claudio[b] gobernaba en Roma.
29 Los seguidores de Jesús en Antioquía se pusieron de acuerdo para ayudar a los cristianos en la región de Judea, y cada uno dio todo lo que pudo dar. 30 Entonces Bernabé y Saulo llevaron el dinero a Jerusalén, y lo entregaron a los líderes de la iglesia.
