伯沙撒王大宴群臣
5 伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣大擺筵席，他和他們一同喝酒。 2 伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，下令把他先祖尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿裡掠取的金銀器皿拿來，好讓他和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿來喝酒。 3 於是人把從耶路撒冷聖殿裡，就是 神的殿裡，掠來的金器皿拿來；王和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。 4 他們喝酒，讚美那些用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神。
指頭在牆上寫字
5 當時，忽然有人手的指頭出現，在王宮裡燈臺對面的粉牆上寫字；王看見了那隻正在寫字的手掌， 6 就臉色大變，心意驚惶，兩腳無力，雙膝彼此相碰。 7 王大聲呼叫，吩咐人把那些用法術的和迦勒底人，以及占星家都領進來；王對巴比倫的智慧人說：“誰能讀這文字，又能向我解釋它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，頸戴金鍊，在國中掌權，位列第三。” 8 於是王所有的智慧人都進來，卻不能讀那文字，也不能把意思向王說明。 9 伯沙撒王就非常驚惶，臉色大變；他的大臣也都不知所措。
太后舉薦但以理
10 太后因王和他的大臣所說的話，就進入宴會的大廳，對王說：“願王萬歲！你的心意不要驚惶，也不要臉色大變。 11 在你國中有一個人，他裡面有聖神的靈；你先祖在世的日子，發現這人有灼見，有聰明，有智慧，好像神的智慧一樣。你先祖尼布甲尼撒王，就是王的先祖，曾立他為術士、用法術的，以及迦勒底人和占星家的領袖。 12 這都因為在這但以理裡面有美好的靈性，有知識，有聰明，能解夢，釋謎語，能解答難題；這人尼布甲尼撒王曾給他起名叫伯提沙撒。現在可以把但以理召來，他必能解釋牆上文字的意思。”
13 於是但以理被帶到王面前，王問但以理說：“你就是我先王從猶大擄來的猶大人但以理嗎？ 14 我聽說你裡面有神的靈，有灼見，有聰明，有高超的智慧。 15 現在智慧人和用法術的都被帶到我面前了，我要他們讀這文字，把文字的意思向我說明，可是他們都不能解釋這文字的意思。 16 我聽說你能解釋異夢，也能解答難題。現在你若能讀這文字，把它的意思向我說明，就必身穿紫袍，頸戴金鍊，在國中掌權，位列第三。”
但以理直言責王
17 但以理在王面前回答說：“你的禮物可以歸你自己，你的賞賜可以歸給別人；我卻要為王讀這文字，也要把意思向王說明。 18 王啊！至高的 神曾把國位、權勢、光榮和威嚴賜給你先祖尼布甲尼撒。 19 因 神所賜給他的權勢，各國、各族和說各種語言的人，都在他面前戰兢恐懼；他要殺誰，就殺誰；要誰活著，誰就可以活著；要提升誰，就提升誰；要貶低誰，就貶低誰。 20 但他心高氣傲、妄自尊大的時候，就從國位上被趕下來，他的尊榮也被奪去。 21 他被趕逐，離開人群，他的心變如獸心，他和野驢同住，像牛一樣吃草，身體被天露滴濕；等到他承認至高的 神在世人的國中掌權，他喜歡誰，就立誰執掌國權。 22 伯沙撒啊！你是他的子孫，你雖然知道這一切，你的心仍不謙卑， 23 竟高抬自己，敵對天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前來，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿喝酒；你又讚美那些不能看見、不能聽見、甚麼都不能知道，用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神，卻沒有把榮耀歸給那手中有你的氣息，和那掌管你一切命途的 神。 24 因此，有手從 神那裡伸出來，寫了這文字。
解釋牆上文字的意義
25 “所寫的文字是：‘彌尼，彌尼，提客勒，烏法珥新。’ 26 這文字的意思是這樣：‘彌尼’就是 神已數算了你國度的年日，使國終止； 27 ‘提客勒’就是你被稱在天平上，顯出你的缺欠； 28 ‘毘勒斯’（“毘勒斯”即“烏法珥新”的單數式）就是你的國要分裂，歸給瑪代人和波斯人。”
29 於是伯沙撒下令，人就把紫袍給但以理穿上，把金鍊戴在他的頸上，又宣告他在國中掌權，位列第三。
伯沙撒王被殺而亡國
30 當夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被殺。 31 瑪代人大利烏奪取了迦勒底國；那時他六十二歲。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為6:1）

5 Împăratul Belşaţar a dat un ospăţ mare celor o mie de nobili ai săi şi a băut vin împreună cu ei. 2 În cheful vinului, Belşaţar a poruncit să fie aduse vasele de aur şi de argint pe care tatăl[a] său, Nebucadneţar, le luase din Templul[b] de la Ierusalim, pentru ca împăratul să bea din ele împreună cu nobilii săi, cu soţiile sale şi cu ţiitoarele sale. 3 Aşadar, au adus vasele de aur care fuseseră luate din Templu, din Casa lui Dumnezeu din Ierusalim, şi împăratul împreună cu nobilii săi, cu soţiile sale şi cu ţiitoarele sale au băut din ele. 4 Au băut vin şi i-au lăudat pe zeii de aur, de argint, de bronz, de fier, de lemn şi de piatră.
5 Chiar în clipa aceea au apărut degetele unei mâini de om care scria în faţa sfeşnicului, pe tencuiala peretelui din palatul împărătesc. Împăratul a văzut palma mâinii care scria. 6 Atunci împăratul a pălit la faţă şi gândurile l-au îngrozit atât de tare, încât i-au slăbit încheieturile coapselor, iar genunchii i s-au izbit unul de altul. 7 Împăratul a strigat cu glas tare să fie aduşi descântătorii, astrologii[c] şi ghicitorii. Împăratul le-a zis înţelepţilor Babilonului astfel: „Oricine va citi scrierea aceasta şi-mi va spune interpretarea ei, va fi îmbrăcat în purpură, va avea un lanţ de aur la gât şi va fi al treilea la conducerea împărăţiei.[d]“
8 Au intrat toţi înţelepţii Babilonului, dar nu au putut nici să citească scrierea şi nici să facă cunoscută împăratului interpretarea ei. 9 Atunci împăratul Belşaţar s-a îngrozit şi mai tare, a pălit la faţă, iar nobilii au rămas înmărmuriţi.
10 Împărăteasa[e], la auzul cuvintelor împăratului şi ale nobililor lui, a intrat în sala de ospăţ şi a zis: „Să trăieşti veşnic, împărate! Să nu te înspăimânte gândurile tale şi să nu păleşti la faţă! 11 Există în împărăţia ta un om care are în el duhul sfinţilor zei şi despre care, pe vremea tatălui tău, s-a descoperit că are lumină, agerime şi o înţelepciune ca înţelepciunea zeilor. Împăratul Nebucadneţar, tatăl tău, l-a pus căpetenie peste magicieni, peste descântători, peste astrologi şi peste ghicitori, 12 deoarece s-au găsit în el, adică în Daniel – numit de împărat şi Beltşaţar – un duh deosebit, ştiinţă şi agerime în interpretarea viselor, în desluşirea enigmelor şi în dezlegarea lucrurilor încâlcite. Acum dar, să fie chemat Daniel şi el îţi va spune interpretarea!“
13 Daniel a fost adus înaintea împăratului, iar acesta l-a întrebat pe Daniel:
– Tu eşti acel Daniel, unul dintre exilaţii lui Iuda pe care i-a adus aici din Iuda tatăl meu, împăratul? 14 Am auzit că ai în tine duhul zeilor şi că s-a găsit în tine lumină, agerime şi înţelepciune deosebită. 15 Până acum au fost aduşi înaintea mea înţelepţi şi descântători, ca să citească scrierea aceasta şi să-mi facă cunoscută interpretarea ei, dar nu au putut să-mi spună interpretarea cuvintelor. 16 Despre tine însă am auzit că poţi să dai interpretări şi să dezlegi lucrurile încâlcite. Acum, dacă vei putea să citeşti scrierea şi să-mi faci cunoscută interpretarea ei, vei fi îmbrăcat în purpură, vei avea un lanţ de aur la gât şi vei fi al treilea la conducerea împărăţiei.
17 Daniel i-a răspuns împăratului:
– Păstrează-ţi darurile pentru tine şi dă altuia răsplătirile tale! Totuşi voi citi împăratului scrierea şi-i voi face cunoscută interpretarea.
18 Împărate, Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt îi dăduse tatălui tău, Nebucadneţar, o împărăţie, măreţie, onoare şi faimă, 19 iar din pricina măreţiei pe care i-o dăduse, toate popoarele, neamurile şi oamenii de orice limbă tremurau şi se temeau de el, căci împăratul omora pe cine voia şi lăsa în viaţă pe cine voia, înălţa pe cine voia şi smerea pe cine voia. 20 Dar, când i s-a îngâmfat inima şi i s-a împietrit duhul până la mândrie, a fost dat jos de pe tronul împărăţiei sale şi i-a fost luată gloria. 21 A fost izgonit dintre oameni, inima lui a devenit ca a fiarelor şi a locuit la un loc cu măgarii sălbatici. L-au hrănit cu iarbă ca pe boi, iar trupul i-a fost udat de roua cerului, până când a recunoscut că Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt stăpâneşte peste împărăţia oamenilor şi că El o dă cui vrea.
22 Dar tu, Belşaţar, fiul[f] lui, nu ţi-ai smerit inima, cu toate că ai ştiut toate acestea, 23 ci te-ai înălţat împotriva Stăpânului cerurilor. Vasele din Casa Lui au fost aduse înaintea ta, iar tu, împreună cu nobilii tăi, cu soţiile tale şi cu ţiitoarele tale, aţi băut vin din ele; ai lăudat zeii de argint, de aur, de bronz, de fier, de lemn şi de piatră, care nici nu văd, nici nu aud şi nici nu pricep, în loc să-L slăveşti pe Dumnezeul în mâna Căruia este suflarea ta şi toate căile tale. 24 De aceea a trimis El palma acestei mâini pentru a fi scrisă inscripţia aceasta.
25 Inscripţia care a fost scrisă este următoarea: „Mene, Mene, Techel, Uparsin“.[g]
26 Iată care este interpretarea acestor cuvinte:
„Mene“[h] înseamnă că Dumnezeu a numărat zilele domniei tale şi i-a pus capăt;
27 „Techel“[i] înseamnă că ai fost cântărit în cumpănă şi ai fost găsit uşor[j];
28 „Peres“[k] înseamnă că împărăţia ta a fost împărţită în două şi dată mezilor şi perşilor.
29 De îndată Belşaţar a dat poruncă şi l-au îmbrăcat pe Daniel în purpură, i-au pus un lanţ de aur la gât şi l-au proclamat ca fiind al treilea la conducerea împărăţiei.
30 Însă chiar în noaptea aceea Belşaţar, împăratul caldeenilor, a fost ucis, 31 iar Darius Medul[l], care era în vârstă de şaizeci şi doi de ani, a primit împărăţia.

5 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
2 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
6 Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

12 Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
14 I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
15 And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:
16 And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
18 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
19 And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
21 And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;
23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
24 Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
25 And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.
26 This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
27 Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
28 Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

5 1-3 Noong si Belshazar ang hari ng Babilonia, naghanda siya ng malaking piging para sa kanyang 1,000 marangal na mga bisita. Habang nag-iinuman sila, ipinakuha ni Belshazar ang mga tasang ginto at pilak na kinuha ng ama niyang si Nebucadnezar sa templo ng Dios sa Jerusalem. Ipinakuha niya ang mga ito para gamitin nila ng kanyang mga marangal na mga bisita, ng kanyang mga asawa, at ng iba pa niyang mga asawang alipin. 8 Lumapit ang mga marurunong upang basahin ang nakasulat sa pader. Pero hindi nila kayang basahin o maipaliwanag sa hari ang kahulugan nito. 9 Kaya lalong natakot at namutla si Haring Belshazar. Litong-lito naman ang isip ng kanyang marangal na mga bisita.
10 Nang marinig ng reyna[b] ang kanilang pagkakagulo, lumapit siya sa kanila at sinabi, “Mabuhay ang Mahal na Hari! Huwag kang matakot o mag-alala, 11 dahil may isang tao sa iyong kaharian na nasa kanya ang espiritu ng banal na mga dios.[c] Noong panahon ng iyong amang si Haring Nebucadnezar, ang taong ito ay nagpamalas ng kanyang karunungan tulad sa karunungan ng mga dios. Ginawa siya ng iyong ama na pinuno ng mga salamangkero, engkantador, manghuhula, at mga astrologo. 12 Siya ay si Daniel na pinangalanan ng hari na Belteshazar. At nang siyaʼy dumating, sinabi sa kanya ng hari, “Ikaw pala si Daniel na isa sa mga bihag na Judio na dinala rito ng aking ama mula sa Juda. 14 Nabalitaan kong ang espiritu ng mga dios ay nasa iyo at mayroon kang pambihirang kakayahan at karunungan. 15 Ipinatawag ko na ang marurunong, pati na ang mga engkantador, para ipabasa at ipaliwanag ang kahulugan ng nakasulat na iyon sa pader, pero hindi nila ito nagawa. 16 Nabalitaan kong marunong kang magpaliwanag ng kahulugan ng mga pangyayari at kaya mo ring lutasin ang mabibigat na mga problema. Kung mababasa mo at maipapaliwanag ang kahulugan ng nakasulat na iyan, pabibihisan kita ng maharlikang damit at pasusuotan ng gintong kwintas. At gagawin kitang pangatlong pinakamataas na pinuno sa aking kaharian.”
17 Sumagot si Daniel, “Mahal na Hari, huwag na po ninyo akong bigyan ng regalo; ibigay nʼyo na lamang sa iba. Pero babasahin ko pa rin para sa inyo ang nakasulat sa pader at ipapaliwanag ko ang kahulugan nito.
18 “Mahal na Hari, ang inyong amang si Nebucadnezar ay ginawang hari ng Kataas-taasang Dios. Naging makapangyarihan siya at pinarangalan. 19 Dahil sa kapangyarihang ibinigay ng Dios sa kanya, ang mga tao sa ibaʼt ibang bansa, lahi at wika ay natakot sa kanya. Nagagawa niyang patayin ang sinumang gusto niyang patayin. At nagagawa rin niyang huwag patayin ang gusto niyang huwag patayin. Itinataas niya sa tungkulin ang gusto niyang itaas, at ibinababa niya sa tungkulin ang gusto niyang ibaba. 20 Pero siya ay naging mayabang at nagmataas, kaya pinaalis siya sa kanyang tungkulin bilang hari, 21 at itinaboy mula sa mga tao. Naging isip-hayop siya. Tumira siya kasama ng mga asnong-gubat at kumain ng damo na parang baka. Palaging basa ng hamog ang kanyang katawan. Ganoon ang kanyang kalagayan hanggang kilalanin niya na ang Kataas-taasang Dios ang siyang may kapangyarihan sa mga kaharian ng mga tao at maaari niyang ipasakop ang mga ito kahit kanino niya gustuhin.
22 “At ikaw, Haring Belshazar na anak niya, kahit na alam mo ang lahat ng ito, hindi ka pa rin nagpakumbaba, 23 sa halip itinuring mong mas mataas ka kaysa sa Panginoon. Ipinakuha mo ang mga tasang mula sa templo ng Dios at ginamit ninyong inuman ng iyong marangal na mga bisita, mga asawa, at iba pang mga asawang alipin. Maliban diyan, sumamba ka pa sa mga dios-diosang gawa sa pilak, ginto, tanso, bakal, kahoy, at bato. Itoʼy mga dios na hindi nakakakita, hindi nakakarinig, at hindi nakakaunawa. Ngunit hindi mo man lang pinuri ang Dios na siyang may hawak ng iyong buhay at nakakaalam ng iyong landas na dadaanan. 24-25 Kaya ipinadala niya ang kamay na iyon para isulat ang mga katagang ito:
“Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin. 26 Ang ibig sabihin nito:
Ang Mene ay nangangahulugan na bilang na ng Dios ang natitirang araw ng paghahari mo, dahil wawakasan na niya ito.
27 Ang Tekel ay nangangahulugan na tinimbang ka ng Dios at napatunayang ikaw ay nagkulang.
28 Ang Parsin[d] ay nangangahulugan na ang kaharian moʼy mahahati at ibibigay sa Media at Persia.”

The Writing on the Wall
5 King Belshazzar(A) gave a great banquet(B) for a thousand of his nobles(C) and drank wine with them. 2 While Belshazzar was drinking(D) his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets(E) that Nebuchadnezzar his father[a] had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines(F) might drink from them.(G) 3 So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. 4 As they drank the wine, they praised the gods(H) of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.(I)
5 Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. 6 His face turned pale(J) and he was so frightened(K) that his legs became weak(L) and his knees were knocking.(M)
7 The king summoned the enchanters,(N) astrologers[b](O) and diviners.(P) Then he said to these wise(Q) men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck,(R) and he will be made the third(S) highest ruler in the kingdom.”(T)
8 Then all the king’s wise men(U) came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.(V) 9 So King Belshazzar became even more terrified(W) and his face grew more pale. His nobles were baffled.
10 The queen,[c] hearing the voices of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall. “May the king live forever!”(X) she said. “Don’t be alarmed! Don’t look so pale! 11 There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods(Y) in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom(Z) like that of the gods.(AA) Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners.(AB) 12 He did this because Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar,(AC) was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles(AD) and solve difficult problems.(AE) Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.(AF)”
13 So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?(AG) 14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods(AH) is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.(AI) 15 The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means, but they could not explain it.(AJ) 16 Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems.(AK) If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck,(AL) and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”(AM)
17 Then Daniel answered the king, “You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else.(AN) Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.
18 “Your Majesty, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar(AO) sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor.(AP) 19 Because of the high position he gave him, all the nations and peoples of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death;(AQ) those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.(AR) 20 But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride,(AS) he was deposed from his royal throne(AT) and stripped(AU) of his glory.(AV) 21 He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like the ox; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign(AW) over all kingdoms on earth and sets over them anyone he wishes.(AX)
22 “But you, Belshazzar, his son,[d] have not humbled(AY) yourself, though you knew all this. 23 Instead, you have set yourself up against(AZ) the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives(BA) and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand.(BB) But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life(BC) and all your ways.(BD) 24 Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.
25 “This is the inscription that was written:
mene, mene, tekel, parsin
26 “Here is what these words mean:
Mene[e]: God has numbered the days(BE) of your reign and brought it to an end.(BF)
27 Tekel[f]: You have been weighed on the scales(BG) and found wanting.(BH)
28 Peres[g]: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes(BI) and Persians.”(BJ)
29 Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck,(BK) and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.(BL)
30 That very night Belshazzar,(BM) king(BN) of the Babylonians,[h] was slain,(BO) 31 and Darius(BP) the Mede(BQ) took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.[i]
