11 那时，灵将我举起，带我到耶和华殿的东门，我见那里有二十五个人，当中有百姓的首领押朔的儿子雅撒尼亚和比拿雅的儿子毗拉提。 2 耶和华对我说：“人子啊，这些人在这城里专给人出毒计，设恶谋。 3 他们说，‘建造房屋的时候不是到了吗？我们的城像铁锅一样坚固，我们像在锅里的肉一样得到保护。’ 4 人子啊，你要说预言，说预言斥责他们。”

17 “你要说，‘主耶和华这样说，我必从各国召集你们，从你们被驱散到的列邦中聚集你们，将以色列再赐给你们。’ 18 他们回来后，必除掉一切丑恶可憎的事。 19 我必赐给他们一颗专一的心，将新灵放在他们里面，除去他们的石心，赐给他们肉心， 20 使他们恪守我的律例，谨遵我的典章。他们将做我的子民，我将做他们的上帝。 21 至于那些心里恋慕丑恶可憎之物的人，我必按他们所行的报应他们。这是主耶和华说的。”

Vision of Israel’s Corrupt Leaders

11 The Spirit then lifted me up(A) and brought me to the eastern gate of the Lord’s house, which faces east, and at the gate’s entrance were twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people. 2 The Lord[a] said to me, ‘Son of man, these are the men who plot evil(B) and give wicked advice in this city. 3 They are saying, “Isn’t the time near to build houses?[b](C) The city is the pot,(D) and we are the meat.” 4 Therefore, prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man! ’

5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and he told me, ‘You are to say, “This is what the Lord says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind.(E) 6 You have multiplied your slain in this city,(F) filling its streets with them.

7 ‘ “Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: The slain you have put within it are the meat,(G) and the city is the pot, but I[c] will take you out of it.(H) 8 You fear the sword,(I) so I will bring the sword against you.(J) This is the declaration of the Lord God. 9 I will take you out of the city and hand you over to foreigners; I will execute judgements against you.(K) 10 You will fall by the sword,(L) and I will judge you at the border of Israel.(M) Then you will know that I am the Lord. 11 The city will not be a pot for you,(N) and you will not be the meat within it. I will judge you at the border of Israel, 12 so that you will know that I am the Lord, whose statutes you have not followed and whose ordinances you have not practised. Instead, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you.” ’(O)

13 Now while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died.(P) Then I fell face down and cried out loudly, ‘Oh, Lord God!(Q) You are bringing the remnant of Israel to an end! ’

Promise of Israel’s Restoration

14 The word of the Lord came to me again: 15 ‘Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem your property,[d][e] along with the entire house of Israel – all of them – are those to whom the residents of Jerusalem have said, “You are far from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.”

16 ‘Therefore say, “This is what the Lord God says: Though I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them(R) in the countries where they have gone.”

17 ‘Therefore say, “This is what the Lord God says: I will gather you from the peoples(S) and assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”

18 ‘When they arrive there, they will remove all its(T) abhorrent acts(U) and detestable practices from it. 19 I will give them integrity of[f] heart(V) and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone(W) from their bodies[g] and give them a heart of flesh,(X) 20 so that they will follow my statutes,(Y) keep my ordinances, and practise them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.(Z) 21 But as for those whose hearts pursue their desire for abhorrent acts and detestable practices, I will bring their conduct down on their own heads.’(AA) This is the declaration of the Lord God.

God’s Glory Leaves Jerusalem

22 Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, lifted their wings,(AB) and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. 23 The glory of the Lord(AC) rose up from within the city and stopped on the mountain(AD) east of the city.[h](AE) 24 The Spirit lifted me up(AF) and brought me to Chaldea and to the exiles in a vision from the Spirit of God. After the vision I had seen left me, 25 I spoke to the exiles about all the things the Lord had shown me.

Judgment on Wicked Counselors

11 Then (A)the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to (B)the East Gate of the Lord’s house, which faces eastward; and there (C)at the door of the gate were twenty-five men, among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. 2 And He said to me: “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and give wicked [a]counsel in this city, 3 who say, ‘The time is not (D)near to build houses; (E)this city is the [b]caldron, and we are the meat.’ 4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man!”

5 Then (F)the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said to me, “Speak! ‘Thus says the Lord: “Thus you have said, O house of Israel; for (G)I know the things that come into your mind. 6 (H)You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.” 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: (I)“Your slain whom you have laid in its midst, they are the meat, and this city is the caldron; (J)but I shall bring you out of the midst of it. 8 You have (K)feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you,” says the Lord God. 9 “And I will bring you out of its midst, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and (L)execute judgments on you. 10 (M)You shall fall by the sword. I will judge you at (N)the border of Israel. (O)Then you shall know that I am the Lord. 11 (P)This city shall not be your [c]caldron, nor shall you be the meat in its midst. I will judge you at the border of Israel. 12 And you shall know that I am the Lord; for you have not walked in My statutes nor executed My judgments, but (Q)have done according to the customs of the Gentiles which are all around you.” ’ ”

13 Now it happened, while I was prophesying, that (R)Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then (S)I fell on my face and cried with a loud voice, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will You make a complete end of the remnant of Israel?”

God Will Restore Israel

14 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 15 “Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Get far away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’ 16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, (T)yet I shall be a little [d]sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.” ’ 17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: (U)“I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” ’ 18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its (V)detestable things and all its abominations from there. 19 Then (W)I will give them one heart, and I will put (X)a new spirit within [e]them, and take (Y)the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 (Z)that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; (AA)and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, (AB)I will recompense their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.

22 So the cherubim (AC)lifted up their wings, with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was high above them. 23 And (AD)the glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city and stood (AE)on the mountain, (AF)which is on the east side of the city.

24 Then (AG)the Spirit took me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into [f]Chaldea, to those in captivity. And the vision that I had seen went up from me. 25 So I spoke to those in captivity of all the things the Lord had shown me.

The Fall of Jerusalem

11 A wind[a] lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s temple that faces the east. There, at the entrance of the gate, I noticed twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people.[b] 2 The Lord[c] said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked advice in this city. 3 They say,[d] ‘The time is not near to build houses;[e] the city[f] is a cooking pot,[g] and we are the meat in it.’ 4 Therefore, prophesy against them! Prophesy, son of man!”

5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came[h] upon me and said to me, “Say: ‘This is what the Lord says: This is what you are thinking,[i] O house of Israel; I know what goes through your minds.[j] 6 You have killed many people in this city; you have filled its streets with corpses.’ 7 Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘The corpses you have dumped[k] in the midst of the city[l] are the meat, and this city[m] is the cooking pot, but I will take you out of it.[n] 8 You fear the sword, so the sword I will bring against you,’ declares the Sovereign Lord. 9 ‘But I will take you out of the city.[o] And I will hand you over to foreigners. I will execute judgments on you. 10 You will die by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 11 This city will not be a cooking pot for you, and you will not[p] be meat within it; I will judge you at the border of Israel. 12 Then you will know that I am the Lord, whose statutes you have not followed and whose regulations you have not carried out. Instead you have behaved according to the regulations of the nations around you!’”

13 Now, while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I threw myself face down and cried out with a loud voice, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! You are completely wiping out the remnant of Israel!”[q]

14 Then the Lord’s message came to me: 15 “Son of man, your brothers,[r] your relatives,[s] and the whole house of Israel, all of them are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘They have gone far away[t] from the Lord; to us this land has been given as a possession.’

16 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Although I have removed them far away among the nations and have dispersed them among the countries, I have been a little[u] sanctuary for them among the lands where they have gone.’

17 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When I regather you from the peoples and assemble you from the lands where you have been dispersed, I will give you back the country of Israel.’

18 “When they return to it, they will remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations. 19 I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them;[v] I will remove the hearts of stone from their bodies[w] and I will give them tender hearts,[x] 20 so that they may follow my statutes and observe my regulations and carry them out. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.[y] 21 But those whose hearts are devoted to detestable things and abominations, I hereby repay them for what they have done,[z] says the Sovereign Lord.”

22 Then the cherubim spread[aa] their wings with their wheels alongside them while the glory of the God of Israel hovered above them. 23 The glory of the Lord rose up from within the city and stopped[ab] over the mountain east of it. 24 Then a wind[ac] lifted me up and carried me to the exiles in Babylonia,[ad] in the vision given to me by the Spirit of God.

Then the vision I had seen went up from me. 25 So I told the exiles everything[ae] the Lord had shown me.
