重建祭坛
3 到了七月，以色列人已安居各城，他们万众一心地聚集在耶路撒冷。 2 约萨达的儿子耶书亚及其他祭司、撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯及其亲属，一起重新筑造以色列上帝的祭坛，为要照上帝的仆人摩西在律法书上的记载在坛上献燔祭。 3 他们虽然惧怕当地的居民，还是在原来的根基上重建祭坛，并早晚在上面向耶和华献燔祭。 4 他们照律法书的记载守住棚节，每天按规定的数目献上燔祭。 5 之后，他们献上日常的燔祭，并在朔日[a]和耶和华所定的一切节期献祭，又向耶和华献上自愿献的祭。 6 尽管耶和华殿的根基还没有立好，从七月一日起，他们就开始向耶和华献燔祭。 7 他们付给石匠和木匠银子，并经波斯王塞鲁士批准，供给泰尔人和西顿人食物、酒和油，换取他们把香柏木从黎巴嫩经海路运到约帕。

8 在回到耶路撒冷上帝殿的第二年二月，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯、约萨达的儿子耶书亚及其祭司和利未亲族，以及所有从流亡之地回到耶路撒冷的人，开始重建耶和华的殿，并派二十岁以上的利未人做督工。 9 何达威雅[b]的后裔，即耶书亚及其子孙和弟兄、甲篾及其子孙，与利未人希拿达的子孙及其弟兄同心协力地监督在上帝殿里做工的人。
10 工人立耶和华殿的根基时，祭司身穿礼服拿着号角，利未人亚萨的子孙拿着钹各就各位，照以色列王大卫所定的规矩赞美耶和华。 11 他们彼此唱和，赞美、称谢耶和华，说：
“祂是美善的，
因为祂向以色列人永施慈爱！”
所有人都高声欢呼赞美耶和华，因为耶和华殿的根基已经立好。 12 许多曾见过旧殿的年长的祭司、利未人和族长看见这殿的根基，不禁放声大哭，也有很多人高声欢呼。 13 人们无法分辨是痛哭声还是欢呼声，因为众人都大声呼喊，声音传到远处。

قربان گاہ کا دوبارہ بنا نا
3 جب ساتواں مہینہ آیا اور بنی اسرائیل اپنے اپنے قصبوں میں بس گئے تو لوگ ایک ساتھ ایک تن ہو کر یروشلم میں اکٹھے ہو ئے۔ 2 تب یو صدق کے بیٹے یشوع اور اس کے ساتھی کا ہن ،سالتی ایل کے بیٹے زرباّ بل اور اس کے ساتھ کے لوگو ں نے مل کر اسرائیل کے خدا کی قربان گا ہ بنا ئی۔انہوں نے اسرائیل کے خدا کی قربان گا ہ بنائی تاکہ وہ قربانی پیش کر سکیں۔انہوں نے بالکل موسیٰ کے اصولوں کے مطابق ہی بنائی۔ موسیٰ خدا کا خاص خادم تھا۔
3 وہ لوگ ان کے قریب کے رہنے وا لے لوگو ں سے خوفزدہ رہنے کے با وجود ،انہوں نے قربان گا ہ کی پر انی بنیاد پر نئی قربان گا ہ بنائی۔اور اسی پر خداوند کو جلانے کی قربانی بھی پیش کی۔ انہوں نے صبح و شام وہ قربانیاں دیں۔ 4 تب انہوں نے خیموں کی تقریب کو موسیٰ کے قانون کے مطابق منائی انہوں نے تقریب کے دوران ہر روز دستور کے موافق جلانے کی قربانیا ں دیں۔ 5 اس کے بعد انہوں نے ہر روز کی جلانے کا نذرانہ اور نئے چاند کا نذرانہ اور خداوند کی مقدس تقریب کا نذرانہ اور مزید رضاء کا نذرانہ جو کو ئی بھی شخص خداوند کو دینے کی خواہش کی دینا شروع کیا۔ 6 اسطرح ساتویں مہینے کے پہلے دن ان بنی اسرائیلیوں نے دوبارہ خداوند کو قربانیا ں پیش کرنی شروع کیں۔ وہ سارے کام ان لوگو ں کے ذریعے خداوند کے گھر کی بنیاد جہاں رکھی گئی تھی اس کے سامنے کیا گیا تھا۔
ہیکل کا دوبارہ تعمیر کرنا
7 تب وہ لوگ جو قید سے واپس آئے تھے انہوں نے سنگتراشوں اور بڑھیوں کو رقم دی۔ اور ان لوگو ں نے صور اور صیدا کے لوگوں کو غذا ، مئے اور تیل تنخواہ کی شکل میں دی تاکہ دیودار کی لکڑی لبنان سے یافا کو خدا کا پہلا گھر بنانے کے لئے لا ئیں( جیسا کہ سلیمان نے پہلے کیا تھا )۔ فارس کے بادشا ہ خورس نے ان کاموں کے کرنے کے لئے اجازت دی تھی۔
8 یروشلم میں خدا کی ہیکل میں ان کے پہنچنے کے دوسرے سال کے دوسرے مہینے میں سالتی ایل کے بیٹے زرباّبل اور یو صدق کے بیٹے یشوع نے کام کرنا شروع کیا۔ ان کے بھا ئیوں نے ، لاویوں نے ، کا ہنوں نے اور ہر اس آدمی نے جو جلاوطنی سے یروشلم کو واپس آیا تھا ان کے ساتھ کام کرنا شروع کیا۔ انہوں نے خداوند کے ہیکل کو بنانے کی نگرانی کے لئے ان لاویوں کو مقرر کیا جن کی عمر بیس سال اور ا س سے زیادہ تھی۔ 9 یہ وہ آدمی تھے جو خداوند کی ہیکل کی تعمیر کی نگرانی کر رہے تھے۔ وہ یہ لوگ تھے : یشوع اور اس کے بیٹے ، قدمی ایل اور اس کے بیٹے ( یہودا ہ کی نسل تھی۔) حنداد کے بیٹے اور اس کے بھا ئی ، اور ان لوگو ں کے بھا ئی اور بیٹے جو لا وی تھے۔ 10 معماروں نے خداوند کی ہیکل کی بنیاد کا کام پو را کردیا جب بنیاد پڑ گئی تب کا ہنوں نے اپنے خاص لباس کو پہنا پھر انہوں نے اپنے بِگل لئے اور وہ لا وی جو آسف کے بیٹے تھے اپنے مجیروں کولئے اور خداوند کے حمد کے لئے ترانے گا ئے۔ یہ اسی طرح کیا گیا جیسا کہ ماضی میں اسرائیل کے بادشا ہ داؤد نے حکم دیا تھا۔ 11 انہوں نے (گا کر) تعریف میں جواب دیا،
“خداوند کا شکر ادا کر وہ بھلا ہے۔
کیو ں کہ اس کی محبت ہمیشہ قائم رہے گی۔”
پھر سب لوگ خوشی سے جھوم اٹھے انہوں نے بلند آواز سے خداوند کی تعریف کی۔ انہوں نے ایسا اس لئے کیا کیوں کہ خداوند کی ہیکل کی بنیاد ڈا لی جا چکی تھی۔
12 لیکن کئی بوڑھے کا ہنوں، لا ویوں اور خاندانی قائدین جنہو ں نے خدا کے پرانے گھر کو دیکھا تھا ، زورسے روپڑے جب انہوں نے دیکھا کہ ہیکل کی بنیاد ڈا لی جا چکی ہے۔ جب کہ وہیں پر کئی دوسرے لوگ خوش تھے اور خوشی سے چلارہے تھے۔ 13 ان کا شور دور تک سُنا جا سکتا تھا۔ ان تمام لوگوں نے اتنا شور مچایا کہ کو ئی بھی ان کے رونے کی آواز اور شور میں تمیز نہیں کر سکتا تھا۔

Worship Restored at Jerusalem
3 And when the (A)seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem. 2 Then [a]Jeshua the son of (B)Jozadak[b] and his brethren the priests, (C)and Zerubbabel the son of (D)Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is (E)written in the Law of Moses the man of God. 3 Though fear had come upon them because of the people of those countries, they set the altar on its [c]bases; and they offered (F)burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening burnt offerings. 4 (G)They also kept the Feast of Tabernacles, (H)as it is written, and (I)offered the daily burnt offerings in the number required by ordinance for each day. 5 Afterwards they offered the (J)regular burnt offering, and those for New Moons and for all the appointed feasts of the Lord that were consecrated, and those of everyone who willingly offered a freewill offering to the Lord. 6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, although the foundation of the temple of the Lord had not been laid. 7 They also gave money to the masons and the carpenters, and (K)food, drink, and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre to bring cedar logs from Lebanon to the sea, to (L)Joppa, (M)according to the permission which they had from Cyrus king of Persia.
Restoration of the Temple Begins
8 Now in the second month of the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, (N)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, Jeshua the son of [d]Jozadak, and the rest of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began work (O)and appointed the Levites from twenty years old and above to oversee the work of the house of the Lord. 9 Then Jeshua with his sons and brothers, Kadmiel with his sons, and the sons of [e]Judah, arose as one to oversee those working on the house of God: the sons of Henadad with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10 When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, (P)the[f] priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the (Q)ordinance[g] of David king of Israel. 11 (R)And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord:
Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12 But many of the priests and Levites and (U)heads of the fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this temple was laid before their eyes. Yet many shouted aloud for joy, 13 so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people, for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the sound was heard afar off.

3 And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.
2 Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3 And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
4 They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
5 And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the Lord that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the Lord.
6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.
7 They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8 Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.
9 Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11 And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13 So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
