父母和儿女的本分
6 你们做儿女的，要在主里听从父母，这是理所当然的。 2 “要孝敬父母，使你得福，在世长寿。”这是第一条带应许的诫命。 4 你们做父亲的，不要惹儿女的气，只要照着主的教训和警戒养育他们。
主人和仆人的本分
5 你们做仆人的，要惧怕战兢，用诚实的心听从你们肉身的主人，好像听从基督一般。 6 不要只在眼前侍奉，像是讨人喜欢的，要像基督的仆人，从心里遵行神的旨意， 7 甘心侍奉，好像服侍主，不像服侍人。 8 因为晓得各人所行的善事，不论是为奴的，是自主的，都必按所行的得主的赏赐。 9 你们做主人的，待仆人也是一理，不要威吓他们。因为知道，他们和你们同有一位主在天上，他并不偏待人。

当随时警醒祷告
18 靠着圣灵，随时多方祷告祈求，并要在此警醒不倦，为众圣徒祈求； 19 也为我祈求，使我得着口才，能以放胆开口讲明福音的奥秘—— 20 我为这福音的奥秘做了戴锁链的使者——并使我照着当尽的本分放胆讲论。
21 今有所亲爱、忠心侍奉主的兄弟推基古，他要把我的事情并我的景况如何全告诉你们，叫你们知道。 22 我特意打发他到你们那里去，好叫你们知道我们的光景，又叫他安慰你们的心。
23 愿平安、仁爱、信心从父神和主耶稣基督归于弟兄们！ 24 并愿所有诚心爱我们主耶稣基督的人都蒙恩惠！

Children and Parents
6 Children, obey your parents ·as the Lord wants [L in the Lord], because this is ·the right thing to do [right; just]. 2 The command says, “Honor your father and mother [Ex. 20:12; Deut. 5:16].” This is the first command that has a promise with it— 3 “Then everything will be well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth [Ex. 20:12; Deut. 5:16].”
4 ·Fathers [or Parents; Heb. 11:23], do not make your children angry, but raise them with the ·training [discipline] and ·teaching [instruction] of the Lord [Col. 3:21].
Slaves and Masters
5 ·Slaves [Bondservants], obey your ·masters here on earth [human masters; L masters according to the flesh; Col. 3:22; 1 Pet. 2:18–25] with ·respect [fear] and ·fear [trembling] and from a sincere heart, ·just as you [or as you would] obey Christ. 6 You must do this not only ·while they are watching you [L with eye-service], ·to please them [L as people-pleasers]. But as ·slaves [bondservants] of Christ, do ·what God wants [God’s will] ·with all your [or from the] heart. 7 Do your work ·with enthusiasm [willingly; cheerfully]. Work as if you were serving the Lord, not people. 8 ·Remember [L …knowing] that the Lord will give ·a reward [or back] to everyone, slave or free, for doing good.
9 Masters, treat your slaves the same way. Do not threaten them. Remember that the One who is your Master and their Master is in heaven, and he ·treats everyone alike [has no favorites; shows no favoritism].
Wear the Full Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his ·great [strong; mighty] power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s ·evil tricks [schemes]. 12 [For] Our ·fight [conflict; struggle] is not against ·people on earth [L flesh and blood] but against the rulers and authorities and the ·powers [or cosmic powers/rulers] of this ·world’s darkness [L darkness], against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly ·world [realm; places]. 13 ·That is why you need to [L For this reason,] put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil [C persecution generally or end-time tribulation] you will be able to ·stand strong [keep your ground; resist the enemy]. And ·when you have finished the whole fight [L after you have done/accomplished everything], you will still be standing. 14 So stand ·strong [or ready], with the belt of truth tied around your waist and the ·body armor [breastplate] of ·right living [a righteous life; or God’s own righteousness/justice; L righteousness]. 15 On your feet wear the ·Good News [Gospel] of peace ·to help you stand strong [for firm footing; or to be fully prepared]. 16 And ·also [in addition to all this; or in all circumstances] use the shield of faith with which you can ·stop [extinguish] all the ·burning arrows [T fiery darts] of the Evil One. 17 ·Accept [Receive; or Take] the helmet of salvation, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the ·word [message] of God. 18 Pray ·in [or in dependence on] the Spirit at all times with all ·kinds of prayers [L prayers and requests], asking for everything you need. 6 Yeladim, obey your horim (parents) in Adoneinu, for this is right. [MISHLE 6:20]
2 KABED ES AVICHA V’ES IMMECHA [SHEMOT 20:12; DEVARIM 5:16], (which is the mitzvah harishonah with a havtacha),
3 That it may be well with you and you will be a long time on ha’aretz.
4 And, Avot, do not provoke your yeladim to ka’as, but nurture them in the musar of Hashem and His tokhechah (reproof). [BERESHIS 18:19; DEVARIM 6:7; MISHLE 13:24; 22:6]
5 Avadim (servants), serve with mishma’at (obedience) your adonim according to the basar B’YIR’AH ("with fear") and BIRA’DAH ("with trembling") [TEHILLIM 2:11] with your levavot of erlichkeit (sincerity) as to Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach,
6 Not with eye service as men-pleasers, being mehaneh (pleasing) to Bnei Adam, but as avadim (servants) of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, doing the ratzon Hashem from your levavot.
7 Render your avodas kodesh service with a lev tov as avadim unto Adoneinu and not unto Bnei Adam,
8 Having da’as that whatever ma’aseh tov each one does, this he will receive back from Hashem, whether he is an eved or a Ben Chorin.
9 And, adonim, do the same things to them, forbearing threatening, having da’as that both their and your Adon is in Shomayim, and ein masso panim im Hashem (there is no partiality with Hashem). [IYOV 31:13,14]
10 For the rest, be continually empowered in the ko’ach of Hashem and in the oz of His gevurah. [TEHILLIM 27:14]
11 Put on the whole armor of Hashem for you to be able to stand against the nechalim (scheming deceitfulness, wiles, evil plots) of Hasatan.
12 Because we are not wrestling against basar vadahm (flesh and blood), but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the choshech of the Olam Hazeh, against the kokhot ruchaniyim ra’im (evil spiritual forces) in Shomayim.
13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of Hashem, that you may be able to withstand in the Yom HaRah and, having done all, to stand.
14 Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with HaEmes and having put on the breastplate of Tzedek, [YESHAYAH 11:5; TEHILLIM 132:9; YESHAYAH 59:17]
15 And having put as shoes on your feet that which makes you ready to be a maggid of the Besuras HaGeulah. [YESHAYAH 52:7]
16 With all these things, take up the shield of emunah, by which you will be able to quench all the flaming darts of haRah (the Evil one);
17 And take the helmet of yeshu’ah and the cherev of the Ruach Hakodesh, which is the Dvar Hashem. [YESHAYAH 59:17; 49:2]
18 Daven in the Ruach Hakodesh always with all tefillos and techinnah (supplication). To that end keep shomer and always persevere in techinnah (supplication) for the Kadoshim;
19 And for me also, that to me may be given utterance in opening my mouth in boldness to make known the Sod HaBesuras HaGeulah,
20 On behalf of which I am an emissary in chains, that in it I may be bold as it is necessary for me to speak.
21 But that you may also know my affairs, and what I am doing, Tychicus the Ach b’Moshiach and chaver and keli kodesh (minister) who is ne’eman (faithful) in Hashem,
22 Whom I sent to you for this very reason, that you may have da’as of the things concerning us and he may impart chizzuk (strengthening) to your levavot.
23 Drishat Shalom to the Achim b’Moshiach, and ahavah with emunah from Elohim HaAv and Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Adoneinu Yehoshua.
24 Chen v’Chesed Hashem be with all the ones who have ahavah for Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Adoneinu with an incorruptible ahavah.

6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.(A) 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”[a](B)
4 Fathers,[b] do not exasperate your children;(C) instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.(D)
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect(E) and fear, and with sincerity of heart,(F) just as you would obey Christ.(G) 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ,(H) doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,(I) 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do,(J) whether they are slave or free.
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours(K) is in heaven, and there is no favoritism(L) with him.
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord(M) and in his mighty power.(N) 11 Put on the full armor of God,(O) so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,(P) but against the rulers, against the authorities,(Q) against the powers(R) of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.(S) 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,(T) so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,(U) with the breastplate of righteousness in place,(V) 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.(W) 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,(X) with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.(Y) 17 Take the helmet of salvation(Z) and the sword of the Spirit,(AA) which is the word of God.(AB)
18 And pray in the Spirit(AC) on all occasions(AD) with all kinds of prayers and requests.(AE) With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying(AF) for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me,(AG) that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly(AH) make known the mystery(AI) of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador(AJ) in chains.(AK) Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

21 Tychicus,(AL) the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are,(AM) and that he may encourage you.(AN)
