ぶどうの木のようなイエス

15 イエスが言った。「俺が本当のぶどうの木であり、俺のお父さんは庭師だ。 ²お父さんは実のならないわたしの枝を全て切り落とす。また、お父さんは実を生ならせるために全ての枝の刈込みをし、もっと実が生なるように準備をする。——【「切り落とす」とは、「持ち上げる」という意味もある。枝を縛り保護することで2年目の実りを待ち望む】【枝とはイエスについていく者たちのこと】 ³お前たちはすでに、俺が与えた教えによって、もっと多くの実を生ならせる準備ができている。 ⁴俺と一緒に繋がっていろ。そうすれば、俺もお前たちと繋がっていられる。枝は自分だけで実を生ならせることはできない。幹みきに繋がってなければならないのだ。それはお前たちも同じだ。お前たちは自分だけで、実を生ならせることはできない。お前たちは俺と繋がっていなければいけないのだ。

⁵俺はぶどうの木であり、お前たちは枝だ。もしお前たちが俺と繋がっているなら、お前たちはたくさんの実を結べるだろう。だが、俺から離れたら、お前たちは何もできなくなる。 ⁶お前たちが俺と繋がっていなければ、お前たちはただ捨てられ、枯れてしまった枝のようになるだけだ。そのように死んだ全ての枝は集められ、火の中に投げ込まれて燃やされる。 ⁷俺と繋がり、俺の教えに従うんだ。もしそうするなら、お前たちは自分の欲しいものを求めることができる。そして、それはお前たちに与えられるだろう。 ⁸お前たちがたくさんの実を生ならせる時、俺のお父さんに名誉をもたらす。そして、それはお前たちが俺の真の仲間であることを表すのだ。

⁹お父さんが俺を愛してくれているように、俺もお前たちを愛している。 ¹⁰俺はお父さんの命令に従い、お父さんは俺を愛し続けている。同じように、もしお前たちが俺の命令に従うなら、俺はお前たちを愛し続ける。 ¹¹俺にある本物の幸せを持てるように、俺はこれらのことをお前たちに話しているのだ。お前たちが完全に幸せになってほしいからだ。 ¹²これは俺がお前に命じたことだ。俺が愛したようにお互いを愛し合いなさい。 ¹³人が示すことのできる最大の愛は、友のために死ぬことだ。 ¹⁴お前たちが俺の言うことを行うなら、お前たちは俺の友だ。 ¹⁵もうこれ以上、俺はお前たちのことを召使いとは呼ばない。なぜなら、召使いは主人のしていることを知らないからだ。だが今は、お前たちのことを友と呼ぶ。なぜなら、俺のお父さんが話してくれたことを、全部お前たちに聞かせたからだ。

¹⁶お前たちが俺を選んだのではない。俺がお前たちを選んだのだ。そして、俺はお前たちにこの仕事を与えた。それは出て行って、世に残る実を生ならせることだ。それからお父さんは、お前たちが俺の名によって求めるものは何でも与えてくれる。 ¹⁷これが俺の命令だ！・・・お互いを愛し合え！！！

弟子たちへの警告

¹⁸もしこの世がお前たちを嫌っているなら、思い出せ！彼らは最初に俺を嫌っていたんだ。 ¹⁹もしお前たちがこの世に属しているなら、この世はお前たちをこの世の人々のように愛してくれるだろう。だが、俺はお前たちをこの世の者たちとは異なる者として選んだ。だから、お前たちはこの世に属さず、この世はそれを理由にお前たちを嫌うだろう。

²⁰お前たちに伝えたことを覚えておくんだ！奴隷は自分の主人よりも尊敬されることはない。もし人が俺にひどい扱いをするなら、彼らはお前たちにもひどい扱いをするだろう。もし彼らが俺の教えを受け入れるなら、彼らはお前たちをも受け入れるだろう。 ²¹お前たちは俺に属しているからこそ、彼らは俺にしたことを何でもお前たちにするはずだ。彼らは俺を遣つかわした方を知らないんだ。 ²²もし俺がこの世にやって来なければ・・・この世の人々に話していなければ・・・彼らは罪あやまちを問われることはなかっただろう。だが俺は今、彼らに話している。だから、彼らはもう過ちの言い訳はできないのだ。

²³俺を嫌う者は誰でも、俺のお父さんのことも嫌う。 ²⁴俺はこの世の人々の間で、他の誰もがしたことのないことをした。もし、俺がこれらのことをしていなければ、彼らは有罪にされてはいなかった。だが、彼らは俺がしたことを見たにも関わらず、俺と俺のお父さんを嫌っている。 ²⁵しかし、これは彼らの掟おきてに書かれた完全な意味を明らかにするために起きたことなのだ。『彼らは理由もなしに、わたしを嫌った』

²⁶俺はお父さんから、お前たちに助け主を遣つかわす。助け主は、俺のお父さんからやって来る真理の霊だ。彼が来た時、彼は人々に俺のことを伝えてくれる。 ²⁷そして、お前たちは最初から俺と一緒にいたからこそ、お前たちも俺のことを人々に伝えるのだ」

The True Vine

15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. ²^(A)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He ^[a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear ^(B)more fruit. ³^(C)You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴^(D)Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

⁵“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much ^(E)fruit; for without Me you can do ^(F)nothing. ⁶If anyone does not abide in Me, ^(G)he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷If you abide in Me, and My words ^(H)abide in you, ^(I)you^[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. ⁸^(J)By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; ^(K)so you will be My disciples.

Love and Joy Perfected

⁹“As the Father ^(L)loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. ¹⁰^(M)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

¹¹“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and ^(N)that your joy may be full. ¹²^(O)This is My ^(P)commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. ¹³^(Q)Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. ¹⁴^(R)You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. ¹⁵No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, ^(S)for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. ¹⁶^(T)You did not choose Me, but I chose you and ^(U)appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father ^(V)in My name He may give you. ¹⁷These things I command you, that you love one another.

The World’s Hatred

¹⁸^(W)“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. ¹⁹^(X)If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet ^(Y)because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ²⁰Remember the word that I said to you, ^(Z)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. ^(AA)If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. ²¹But ^(AB)all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. ²²^(AC)If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, ^(AD)but now they have no excuse for their sin. ²³^(AE)He who hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴If I had not done among them ^(AF)the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have ^(AG)seen and also hated both Me and My Father. ²⁵But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ^(AH)‘They hated Me without a cause.’

The Coming Rejection

²⁶^(AI)“But when the ^[c]Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, ^(AJ)He will testify of Me. ²⁷And ^(AK)you also will bear witness, because ^(AL)you have been with Me from the beginning.
