இசைத் தலைவனுக்கு கர்த்தருடைய ஊழியனாகிய தாவீது எழுதிய பாடல். சவுலிடமிருந்தும் பிற பகைவர்களிடமிருந்தும் கர்த்தர் அவனைத் தப்புவித்தப்போது இப்பாடலை எழுதினான்.
18 “எனது பெலனாகிய கர்த்தாவே,
நான் உம்மை நேசிக்கிறேன்!”
2 கர்த்தர் என் பாறையாகவும், கோட்டையாகவும், எனக்குப் பாதுகாப்பான இடமாகவும் இருக்கிறார்.
பாதுகாப்பிற்காக ஓடும் பாறையாக என் தேவன் இருக்கிறார்.
தேவன் எனக்குக் கேடகம். அவரது வல்லமை என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்.
உயர்ந்த மலைகளில் மறைவிடமாக கர்த்தர் எனக்கு விளங்குகிறார்.
3 எனது விரோதிகள் என்னை காயப்படுத்த முயன்றனர்.
ஆனால் நான் கர்த்தருடைய உதவியை நாடினேன், நான் என் பகைவரிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றப்பட்டேன்.
4 என் பகைவர்கள் என்னைக் கொல்ல முயன்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்!
மரணத்தின் கயிறுகள் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்திருந்தன.
மரணத்தின் இடங்களுக்கு என்னைக் கொண்டு செல்லும் பெருவெள்ளத்தில் நான் அகப்பட்டேன்.
5 கல்லறையின் கயிறுகள் என்னைச் சுற்றிலுமிருந்தன.
மரணக் கண்ணிகள் என் முன் கிடந்தன.
6 நெருக்கத்தில் கர்த்தருடைய உதவியை நாடினேன்.
ஆம், என் தேவனை நான் கூப்பிட்டேன்.
தேவன் அவரது ஆலயத்தில் இருந்தார்.
என் குரலைக் கேட்டார். என் அபயக் குரல் அவர் காதில் விழுந்தது.
7 பூமி அதிர்ந்து நடுங்கிற்று. விண்ணின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் அதிர்ந்தன.
ஏனெனில் கர்த்தர் கோபமாயிருந்தார்!
8 தேவனுடைய மூக்கில் புகை கிளம்பிற்று.
தேவனுடைய வாயில் நெருப்புக்கொழுந்துகள் தோன்றின.
அவரிடமிருந்து எரியும் ஜூவாலைகள் பறந்தன.
9 கர்த்தர் வானத்தைக் கிழித்துக் கீழிறங்கினார்!
திரண்ட காரிருளின் மேல் நின்றார்!
10 கர்த்தர் காற்றின் மேல் எழுந்து
பறக்கும் கேருபீன்கள் மேலேறிப் பறந்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.
11 அவரைச் சுற்றி கூடாரம்போல் சூழ்ந்திருந்த கருமேகங்களுக்குள் கர்த்தர் மறைந்திருந்தார்.
இடி மேகங்களினுள் அவர் ஒளிந்திருந்தார்.
12 அப்போது தேவனுடைய பிரகாசிக்கும் ஒளி மேகங்களைக் கிழித்து வெளிவந்தது.
புயலும் மின்னலும் தோன்றின.
13 கர்த்தர் வானத்திலிருந்து இடி இடித்தார்.
உன்னதமான தேவன் அவரது குரலைக் கேட்கச் செய்தார். கல்மழையும், மின்னல் ஒளியும் தோன்றின.
14 கர்த்தர் அம்புகளைச்[a] செலுத்திப் பகைவரைச் சிதறடித்தார்.
கர்த்தர் மின்னலை அனுப்பினார் ஜனங்கள் குழப்பத்தில் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டனர்.
15 கர்த்தாவே, நீர் வல்லமையாகப் பேசினீர்,
உமது வாயிலிருந்து வல்லமையுள்ள காற்று வீசிற்று, தண்ணீரானது பின்னே தள்ளப்பட்டது.
கடலின் அடிப்பகுதியைப் பார்க்க முடிந்தது.
பூமியின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் எங்கள் கண்களுக்குப் புலப்பட்டன.
16 கர்த்தர் மேலிருந்து கீழிறங்கி என்னைக் காப்பாற்றினார்.
கர்த்தர் என்னைப் பிடித்து ஆழமான தண்ணீரிலிருந்து வெளியே எடுத்தார்.
17 எனது பகைவர்கள் என்னிலும் பலவான்கள்.
அவர்கள் என்னைப் பகைத்தார்கள்.
என்னைக் காட்டிலும் என் பகைவர்கள் பலசாலிகள்.
எனவே தேவன் என்னைக் காப்பாற்றினார்.
18 நான் தொல்லையில் சிக்குண்டபோது என் பகைவர்கள் என்னைத் தாக்கினார்கள்.
ஆனால் கர்த்தரோ எனக்கு ஆதரவளித்தார்.
19 கர்த்தர் என்னை நேசிக்கிறார், எனவே என்னைக் காப்பாற்றினார்.
என்னைப் பாதுகாப்பான இடத்திற்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார்.
20 நான் ஒன்றும் அறியாதவன் எனவே கர்த்தர் எனக்குரிய பலனைத் தருவார்.
நான் தவறேதும் செய்யவில்லை, எனவே எனக்காக அவர் நன்மைகளைச் செய்வார்.
21 ஏனெனில் நான் கர்த்தருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தேன்.
என் தேவனுக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்யவில்லை.
22 கர்த்தருடைய முடிவுகளை நான் நினைவு கூர்ந்தேன்.
அவர் சட்டங்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தேன்!
23 அவருக்கு முன் என்னைத் தூய்மையாகவும்
களங்கமின்றியும் வைத்துக்கொண்டேன்.
24 அதனால் கர்த்தர் எனக்கு வெகுமதி கொடுப்பார்.
ஏனெனில் நான் கபடமற்றவன்.
தேவனுடைய பார்வையில் நான் தவறிழைக்கவில்லை.
அவர் எனக்கு நன்மைகள் செய்வார்.
25 கர்த்தாவே! ஒருவன் உம்மை உண்மையாய் நேசித்தால் நீர் உமது உண்மையான அன்பை அவனுக்குக் காண்பிப்பீர்.
ஆண்டவரே ஒருவன் உமக்கு உண்மையாய் இருந்தால் நீரும் அவனுக்கு உண்மையாய் இருப்பீர்.
26 கர்த்தாவே, நல்லோருக்கும் தூயோருக்கும் நீர் நல்லவர், தூயவர்.
ஆனால் இழிவானவர்களையும், கபடதாரிகளையும் நீர் மிக நன்கு அறிவீர்.
27 கர்த்தாவே, நீர் தாழ்மையுள்ளோருக்கு உதவுகிறீர்.
அகந்தையுள்ளோரைத் தாழ்த்துவீர்.
28 கர்த்தாவே, என் விளக்கை ஏற்றுகிறீர்.
என் தேவனுடைய வெளிச்சம் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்த இருளை போக்குகிறது!
29 கர்த்தாவே, உமது உதவியால், நான் வீரரோடு ஓடுவேன்.
தேவனுடைய உதவியால், பகைவரின் சுவர்களில் ஏறுவேன்.
30 தேவனுடைய வல்லமை முழுமையானது.
கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகள் புடமிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
அவரை நம்பும் ஜனங்களை அவர் பாதுகாக்கிறார்.
31 கர்த்தரைத் தவிர தேவன் எவருமில்லை.
நமது தேவனைத் தவிர வேறு பாறை இல்லை.
32 தேவன் எனக்கு பெலன் தந்து
தூய வாழ்க்கை வாழ உதவுவார்.
33 மானைப்போல ஓடுவதற்கு தேவன் உதவுகிறார்.
உயர்ந்த இடங்களில் என்னை உறுதியாக நிலைநிறுத்துகிறார்.
34 தேவன் என்னை யுத்தங்களுக்குப் பழக்குகிறார்.
எனவே எனது கரங்கள் பலமான வில்லை வளைக்கும்.
35 தேவனே, நீர் என்னைப் பாதுகாத்து வெற்றியடையச் செய்தீர்.
உமது வலது கரத்தால் என்னைத் தாங்கினீர்.
என் சத்துருக்களை நான் வெல்ல உதவி செய்தீர்.
36 நான் தடுமாறாமல் விரைந்து நடக்கும்படிக்கு உதவி செய்தீர்.
எனது கால்களையும், மூட்டுக்களையும் பலப்படுத்தினீர்.
37 நான் என் பகைவர்களைத் துரத்திப் பிடிக்க முடியும்.
அவர்கள் அழியும்வரை நான் திரும்பேன்.
38 எனது பகைவரைத் தோற்கடிப்பேன்.
அவர்கள் மீண்டும் எழுந்திரார்கள்.
என் பகைவர்கள் என் பாதங்களுக்குக் கீழிருப்பார்கள்.
39 தேவனே, என்னை யுத்தங்களில் பலவான் ஆக்கினீர்.
என் பகைவர்கள் என் முன்னே விழும்படி செய்தீர்.
40 என் பகைவரின் கழுத்தை முறிக்கப் பண்ணி,
அவர்களை அழிக்கச் செய்தீர்.
41 என் பகைவர்கள் உதவி வேண்டினார்கள்.
அவர்களைக் காப்பவர் எவருமில்லை.
கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டனர்,
அவர் பதிலளிக்கவில்லை.
42 நான் என் பகைவரைத் துண்டிப்பேன்.
அவர்கள் காற்றில் பறக்கும் தூளைப் போலாவார்கள்.
அவர்களைத் துண்டாக நசுக்குவேன்.
43 என்னிடம் போர் செய்கிற ஜனங்களிடமிருந்து என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்.
என்னை அத்தேசங்களின் தலைவனாக்கும்.
எனக்குத் தெரியாத ஜனங்களும் என்னைச் சேவிப்பார்கள்.
44 அந்த ஜனங்கள் என்னைக் குறித்துக் கேள்விப்படுவார்கள். எனக்கு உடனே கீழ்ப்படிவார்கள்.
அந்த அயலார்கள் என்னைக் கண்டு அஞ்சுவார்கள். அந்த அயலார் நடுங்கி வீழ்வார்கள்.
45 அவர்கள் தைரியமிழந்து
தங்கள் மறைவிடங்களிலிருந்து நடுங்கிக்கொண்டே வெளிவருவார்கள்.
46 கர்த்தர் உயிரோடிருக்கிறார்!
நான் என் பாறையை (தேவனை) துதிப்பேன்!
தேவன் என்னைக் காப்பாற்றுகிறார்.
அவர் மேன்மையானவர்.
47 தேவன் எனக்காக என் பகைவர்களைத் தண்டித்தார்.
என் கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் ஜனங்களைக் கொண்டுவந்தார்.
48 கர்த்தாவே, நீர் என் பகைவரிடமிருந்து என்னைக் காப்பாற்றினீர்.
எனக்கு எதிரான ஜனங்களைத் தோற்கடிக்க உதவினீர்.
கொடியோரிடமிருந்து என்னை மீட்டீர்.
49 கர்த்தாவே, தேசங்களுக்கு முன்பாக உம்மைத் துதிப்பேன்.
உமது நாமத்தைக் குறித்துப் பாடல்கள் இசைப்பேன்.
50 தான் ஏற்படுத்தின ராஜா யுத்தங்கள் பலவற்றில் வெல்ல கர்த்தர் உதவுகிறார்!
தான் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த ராஜாவுக்குத் தன் உண்மையான அன்பை உணர்த்துகிறார்.
அவர் தாவீதுக்கும் அவன் சந்ததியினருக்கும் என்றென்றும் உண்மையுள்ளவராக இருக்கிறார்.

18 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.
13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.
14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.
15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.
18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.
19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
24 Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;
26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
28 For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?
32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

46 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David (B)the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of (C)this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
18 I (D)will love You, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my [a]strength, (E)in whom I will trust;
My shield and the [b]horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the Lord, (F)who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
4 (G)The pangs of death surrounded me,

耶和華的僕人大衛的詩，交給詩班長。在耶和華拯救他脫離所有仇敵和掃羅的手的日子，他向耶和華唱出這首歌的歌詞。他說：
18 耶和華我的力量啊！我愛你。
2 耶和華是我的巖石、我的山寨、我的救主、
我的 神、我的磐石、我所投靠的、
我的盾牌、我救恩的角、我的高臺。
3 我向那當受讚美的耶和華呼求，
就得到拯救，脫離我的仇敵。
4 死亡的繩索環繞我，
毀滅的急流淹沒了我。
5 陰間的繩索圍繞著我，
死亡的網羅迎面而來。
6 急難臨到我的時候，我求告耶和華，
我向我的 神呼求；
他從殿中聽了我的聲音，
我在他面前的呼求進了他的耳中。

30 這位 神，他的道路是完全的；
耶和華的話是煉淨的；
凡是投靠他的，他都作他們的盾牌。
31 除了耶和華，誰是 神呢？
除了我們的 神，誰是磐石呢？
32 他是那位以能力給我束腰的 神，
他使我的道路完全。
33 他使我的腳像母鹿的蹄，
又使我站穩在高處。
34 他教導我的手怎樣作戰，
又使我的手臂可以拉開銅弓。
35 你把你救恩的盾牌賜給我，
你的右手扶持我，
你的溫柔使我昌大。
36 你使我腳底下的路徑寬闊，
我的兩膝沒有動搖。
37 我追趕仇敵，把他們追上；
不消滅他們，我必不歸回。
38 我重創他們，使他們不能起來；
他們都倒在我的腳下。
39 你以能力給我束腰，使我能夠作戰；
你又使那些起來攻擊我的人都屈服在我的腳下。
40 你使我的仇敵在我面前轉背逃跑，
使我可以殲滅恨我的人。
41 他們呼叫，卻沒有人拯救；
就算向耶和華呼求，他也不答應他們。
42 我搗碎他們，像風前的塵土，
我傾倒他們，像街上的爛泥。
43 你救我脫離了人民的爭競，
你立我作列國的元首；
我不認識的人民要服事我。
44 他們一聽見，就服從我；
外族人都向我假意歸順。
45 外族人大勢已去，
戰戰兢兢地從他們的要塞走出來。
46 耶和華是永活的，我的磐石是應當稱頌的，
拯救我的 神是應當被尊為至高的。
47 他是那位為我伸冤的 神，
他使萬民服在我的腳下。
48 他救我脫離我的仇敵。
你還把我高舉起來，高過那些起來攻擊我的人，
又救我脫離了強暴的人。
49 因此，耶和華啊！我要在列國中稱讚你，歌頌你的名。
50 耶和華賜極大的救恩給他所立的王，
又向他的受膏者施慈愛，
就是向大衛和他的後裔施慈愛，直到永遠。
