ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ
17 ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਪਿਤਾ, ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੱਕੇ। 2 ਤੂੰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਵੇ। 3 ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ: ਸੱਚੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਾਣਨ। 4 ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। 5 ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਕਰ। ਉਸ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੀ।
6 “ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈਂ। ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ। 7 ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। 8 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। 9 ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। 10 ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
11 “ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਠਹਿਰਣਾ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਜੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪਿਤਾ! ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੀਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੀ। ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੱਠ ਰਹਿ ਸੱਕਣ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ। 12 ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁੱਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਆਚਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਗੁਆਚ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਉਂ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
13 “ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਅਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ ਸੱਕਣ। 14 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
15 “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਜੱਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। 16 ਉਹ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। 17 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ। ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਸੱਚ ਹਨ। 18 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। 19 ਮੈਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
20 “ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰੱਖਣਗੇ। 21 ਪਿਤਾ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਜੁਟ ਹੋਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ। ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। 22 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਣ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਹਾਂ। 23 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ। ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਇੱਕਤਰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
24 “ਪਿਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਜੱਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ। 25 ਧਰਮੀ ਪਿਤਾ, ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। 26 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇ ਫੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ।”

Jesus Prays for His Followers
17 After Jesus said these things, he ·looked [L raised his eyes] toward heaven and ·prayed [L said], “Father, the ·time [L hour; C the time of his death and resurrection] has come. ·Give glory to [Glorify; Honor] your Son so that the Son can ·give glory to [glorify; honor] you. 2 You gave the Son ·power [authority] over all ·people [T flesh] so that the Son could give eternal life to all those you gave him. 3 And this is eternal life: that people know you, the only true God, and that they know Jesus Christ, the One you sent. 4 Having ·finished [completed] the work you gave me to do, I ·brought you glory [glorified/honored you] on earth [C by leading people to praise God]. 5 And now, Father, ·give me glory [glorify/honor me] ·with you [or in your presence]; give me the ·glory [honor] I had with you before the world ·was made [existed; began].
6 “I ·showed what you are like [L revealed your name; C God’s reputation/character] to ·those [L the people] you gave me from the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have ·obeyed your teaching [L kept your word]. 7 Now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. 8 [L Because] I gave them the ·teachings [words; utterances] you gave me, and they ·accepted [received] them. They knew that I truly came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I am ·praying for them [asking on their behalf]. I am not ·praying for [asking on behalf of] people in the world but for those you gave me, because they are yours. 10 ·All I have is yours, and all you have is mine [L All mine are yours and all yours are mine]. And ·my glory is shown [I am glorified] through them. 11 I am coming to you; I will not stay in the world any longer. But they are still in the world. Holy Father, ·keep them safe by the power of [or keep them loyal to] your name, the name you gave me, so that they will be one, just as you and I are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of [or kept them loyal to] your name, the name you gave me. I ·protected [guarded] them, and only one of them, the ·one worthy of destruction [L son of destruction/perdition; C Judas], was lost so that the Scripture would ·come true [L be fulfilled; Ps. 41:9].
13 “I am coming to you now. But I ·pray [L say] these things while I am still in the world so that ·these followers [these disciples; L they] can have all of my joy [ L made complete; fulfilled] in them. 14 I have given them your ·teaching [word]. And the world has hated them, because they don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. 15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world but to ·keep them safe [protect them] from the ·Evil One [or evil; C the Evil One is the Devil]. 16 They don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. 17 ·Make them ready for your service [Sanctify them; Consecrate them; C setting them apart for service] through your truth; your ·teaching [word] is truth. 18 I have sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world. 19 For their sake, I am ·making myself ready to serve [sanctifying/consecrating myself] so that they can be ·ready for their service of [sanctified/consecrated by] the truth.
20 “I ·pray for these followers [L ask not only for these], but I am also ·praying [L asking] for all those who will believe in me because of their ·teaching [message; proclamation; L word]. 21 Father, I ·pray [L ask] that they can be one. As you are in me and I am in you, I ·pray [L ask] that they can also be ·one in us [L in us]. Then the world will believe that you sent me. 22 I have given these people the ·glory [honor] that you gave me so that they can be one, just as you and I are one. 23 ·I will be in them and you will be in me [L I in them and you in me] so that they will be ·completely one [in perfect unity]. ·Then […so that] the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as much as you loved me.
24 “Father, I want these people that you gave me to be with me where I am. ·I want them to […so that they may] see my ·glory [honor], which you gave me because you loved me before the ·world was made [foundation/creation of the world]. 25 ·Father, you are the One who is good [L Righteous Father,…]. The world does not know you, but I know you, and these people know you sent me. 26 I ·showed [made known to] them ·what you are like [L your name; 14:13], and I will ·show them again [continue to make it known]. ·Then […so that] they will have the same love that you have for me, and I will ·live [be] in them.”
