1 ਇਹ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹਨ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਨਾਬੋਬ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। [a] ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ। 2 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਦੋਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ। ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਆਮੋਨ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਤੇਰ੍ਹਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ [b] ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ। 3 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਯਾਕੀਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨਕਾਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖੀ। ਯਹੋਯਾਕੀਮ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਰਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਤੱਕ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਉਣਾ
4 ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਸੀ:
5 “ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਜਿਆ,
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸਾਂ।
ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ,
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ, ਖਾਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਚੋਣ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਬੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।”
6 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਹਾਂ।”
7 ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ,
“ਇਹ ਨਾ ਆਖ, ‘ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਹੀ ਹਾਂ।’
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਓੱਥੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਭੇਜਾਂ।
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਖਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
8 ਕਿਸੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਨਾ ਹੋ।
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।”
ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ।
9 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਵੱਧਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਹਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ,
“ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
10 ਅੱਜ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਉਖਾੜ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਢਾਹ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ।
ਤੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ।
ਤੂੰ ਉਸਾਰੇਁਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਗਾਵੇਂਗਾ।”
ਦੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ
11 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੀ: “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ?”
ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਬਾਦਾਮ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਟਾਹਣੀ ਦੇਖ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”
12 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਠੀਕ-ਠੀਕ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਤੱਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਸੀ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ।”
13 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਆਇਆ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਸੀ: “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ?”
ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਉਬਲਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਬਰਤਨ ਦੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਬਰਤਨ ਉੱਤਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਟੇਢਾ ਹੈ।”
14 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਆਫ਼ਤ ਆਵੇਗੀ।
ਇਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਪਰੇਗੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ।
15 ਬੋੜੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਦ ਹੀ, ਮੈਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾਂਗਾ।”
ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖੀਆਂ।
“ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਆਵਣਗੇ
ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਦਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖਤ ਸਬਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ।
ਉਹ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ
ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ।
16 ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ
ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੰਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਨੇ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਘੜਿਆ ਸੀ।
17 “ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੱਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਹੈ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਜਾ।
ਖਲੋ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਖ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲਈ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਨਾ ਹੋ।
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
18 ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੀਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਂਬਧ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਅੱਜ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ,
ਇੱਕ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੀ ਲਠ੍ਠ ਵਾਂਗ, ਇੱਕ ਤਾਂਬੇ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਵਾਂਗ।
ਤੂੰ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ, ਆਗੂਆਂ, ਜਾਜਕਾਂ
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧਾਰਣ ਲੋਕ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਖਲੋ ਸੱਕਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ।
19 ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਨਗੇ
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਰਾਉਣਗੇ।
ਕਿਉਂ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਹਾਂ,
ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਵਾਂਗਾ।”
ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ।

耶利米书 1

1 希勒迦的儿子耶利米是便雅悯境内亚拿突城的一位祭司，以下是他的话。 2 犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚执政第十三年，耶和华的话传给了耶利米。 3 从犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬开始执政，一直到约西亚的另一个儿子西底迦做犹大王的第十一年五月，就是耶路撒冷的居民被掳之日，耶和华的话常常传给耶利米。
耶利米蒙召
4 耶和华对我说：
5 “我还没有使你在母腹中成形，就认识你；
你还未出生，我已使你圣洁，
立你做万国的先知。”
6 我回答说：“主耶和华啊，我太年轻，不懂得怎样说话。” 7 耶和华却说：
“不要说你太年轻，
我派你去谁那里，
你就去谁那里；
我吩咐你说什么，
你就说什么。
8 谁也不要怕，
因为我与你同在，
我必拯救你。
这是耶和华说的。”
9 然后，耶和华伸手摸我的口，对我说：“看啊，我已把我的话放在你口中。 10 今日，我派你到列邦列国去拔掉、拆除、毁灭、推翻、建造和栽植。”
两个异象
11 耶和华又对我说：“耶利米，你看见什么？”我说：“我看见一根杏树枝。” 12 耶和华说：“不错。我必实现我说过的话。”

Jeremiah 1

God speaks to Jeremiah
1 This book tells about Hilkiah's son, Jeremiah, and the words that he spoke. Jeremiah was a priest. He lived at Anathoth, a town in the land that belonged to the tribe of Benjamin. 2 The Lord first spoke to him when Amon's son Josiah had been king of Judah for 13 years.[a] 3 The Lord also spoke to him while Josiah's son, Jehoiakim, ruled Judah as king. He continued to speak to Jeremiah until Josiah's son Zedekiah had ruled Judah for 11 years. In the fifth month of that year, Judah's enemies took the people of Jerusalem away as their prisoners.
God chooses Jeremiah to be a prophet
4 The Lord gave me this message: 5 ‘I already knew you before I made you inside your mother's body. I chose you to be special before you were born. I chose you to be my prophet, to speak my message to other nations.’
6 I answered, ‘Lord God, I do not know how to speak. I am only a child.’
7 The Lord said to me, ‘Do not say, “I am only a child.” You must go to everyone that I send you to. You must say whatever I tell you to say. 8 Do not be afraid of them. Remember that I will be with you. I will keep you safe.’
9 Then the Lord touched my mouth with his hand. He said to me, ‘I am giving you the words that you must speak. 10 Look! I give you authority to tell nations and kingdoms what will happen to them. You will pull some of them out of the ground, like a plant and its roots. You will knock down and destroy some of them. You will bring an end to their power. But you will build up other nations and make them strong.’
The Lord shows Jeremiah two visions
11 The Lord asked me, ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’
I replied, ‘I see the branch of an almond tree.’
12 The Lord said, ‘Yes, that is correct. I am watching carefully to make sure that what I say will happen really happens.’[b]
13 The Lord asked me again. ‘What do you see?’
I replied, ‘I see in the north a pot with boiling water in it. It will pour its water in this direction.’
The Lord said, 14 ‘Yes, trouble like boiling water will come from the north. It will destroy all the people who live in this land. 15 I will call all the nations that are in the north to come here. Their kings will come and they will sit on their thrones at the city gates of Jerusalem. Their armies will be all around the walls of Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah. 16 I will punish my people for the wicked things that they have done. They have turned away from me. They have offered sacrifices to false gods. They have worshipped idols that they have made with their own hands.
17 You must be ready to move, Jeremiah! Go and say to the people whatever I tell you. Do not be afraid of them. If you are afraid of them now, when you are among them, I will cause you to be very frightened! 18 I, the Lord, promise that I will make you as strong as a city with strong walls around it. You will be as strong as an iron pillar, or a wall that is made of bronze. You will speak a message against the whole nation of Judah. You will speak against its kings, its officers, its priests and all its people. 19 They will attack you. But they will not win against you, because I will be with you. I will keep you safe.
That is what the Lord says.’

- 1:2 When we write Lord like this, it is a special name for God. Sometimes people write it as ‘Yahweh’, or as ‘Jehovah’. It is his own name that he told Moses. See Exodus 3:14. It means ‘I am who I am’. This shows that God has always been there and he always will be there.
- 1:12 The Hebrew words for ‘almond’ and ‘watching’ sound nearly the same. The almond tree is the first tree to have flowers, in the spring. God was telling Jeremiah what would happen. All the things that he had said would soon happen.
