ג הזכר למאמינים שעליהם לציית לשלטונות ולנציגיהם, ושעליהם להיות מוכנים תמיד לעשות מעשים טובים. 2 עליהם להימנע מרכילות, הוצאת דיבה ומריבות, ולעומת זאת להיות עדינים ולהראות ענווה אמיתית לכולם.
3 גם אנחנו היינו פעם טיפשים ולא שמענו לקול אלוהים; אנשים שונים הוליכו אותנו שולל, וגרמו לכך שנשתעבד לתשוקות וליצרים שלנו. התקופה ההיא הייתה נוראה; היינו חסרי-שלווה ומנוחה, מלאי קנאה וטינה, שנאנו את כולם וכולם שנאו אותנו. 4 אך כאשר אלוהים מושיענו גילה לנו את טוב לבו ואהבתו, 5 הוא הושיע אותנו, לא בגלל המעשים הצדיקים שעשינו, אלא מתוך רחמיו. הוא רחץ אותנו מחטאינו, ונתן לנו לידה חדשה וחיים חדשים באמצעות רוח הקודש. 6 אלוהים עשה זאת בזכות קורבנו של ישוע המשיח, 7 ובחסדו הרב הצדיק אותנו ונתן לנו חלק ונחלה בחיי הנצח, שלהם אנו מצפים. 8 כל הדברים שאמרתי לך הם נכונים. הדגש את חשיבותם כדי שהמאמינים יהיו זהירים יותר ויעשו תמיד מעשים טובים, לא רק משום שזו חובתם, אלא משום שזה גם מועיל!
9 הימנעו מוויכוחי סרק ומוויכוחים בנושאים השנויים במחלוקת; הימנעו מוויכוחים ומריבות בנוגע לקיום מצוות התורה, שכן הם מיותרים, חסרי-תועלת וגורמים רק נזק. 10 אם מישהו מכם גורם לסכסוכים ולחילוקי דעות, הזהירו אותו פעם או פעמיים ולאחר מכן עזבוהו לנפשו, 11 כי אדם כזה הוא מושחת וידוע לו היטב שהוא חוטא.
12 אני עומד לשלוח אליך את ארטימס או את טוכיקוס. בהגיע אליך אחד מהשניים השתדל לבוא אלי לניקופוליס במהירות האפשרית, כי החלטתי להישאר שם למשך החורף. 13 זינס, עורך-הדין, ואפולוס עומדים לצאת למסעם. עזור להם כמיטב יכולתך, ודאג לכך שהמאמינים יספקו את כל צרכיהם, 14 כי על המאמינים לבטא את אמונתם במעשיהם הטובים ובהגשת עזרה.
15 כולם כאן מוסרים דרישת שלום. מסור בבקשה דרישת שלום חמה לכל המאמינים בכרתים. יברך אתכם אלוהים. – אמן.

حَيَاةُ الاسْتِقَامَة
3 ذَكِّرِ النَّاسَ دَائِمًا بِأنْ يَخْضَعُوا لِلحُكَّامِ وَالسُّلُطَاتِ فَيُطِيعُوهُمْ، وَأنْ يَكُونُوا مُسْتَعِدِّينَ لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ. 2 وَأنْ لَا يُشَوِّهُوا سُمعَةَ أحَدٍ، بَلْ يَكُونُوا مُسَالِمِينَ لُطَفَاءَ، مُظهِرِينَ كُلَّ أدَبٍ أمَامَ جَمِيعِ النَّاسِ. 3 أقُولُ هَذَا لِأنَّنَا نَحْنُ أيْضًا كُنَّا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ أغبِيَاءَ غَيْرَ طَائِعِينَ وَمَخدُوعِينَ. كُنَّا عَبِيدًا لِشَهَوَاتٍ وَمَلَذَّاتٍ مِنْ كُلِّ نَوعٍ. عِشنَا فِي الخُبثِ وَالحَسَدِ. الآخَرُونَ أبغَضُونَا، وَنَحْنُ أبغَضَ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا. 4 لَكِنْ عِنْدَمَا أُعْلِنَ لُطفُ اللهِ مُخَلِّصِنَا وَمَحَبَّتُهُ للبَشَرِ، 5 خَلَّصَنَا اللهُ، لَا بِسَبَبِ أعْمَالٍ بَارَّةٍ عَمِلنَاهَا، بَلْ بِرَحمَتِهِ. لَقَدْ خَلَّصَنَا بِوَاسِطَةِ الغُسلِ الَّذِي نُولَدُ بِهِ ثَانِيَةً، وَجَدَّدَنَا بِالرُّوحِ القُدُسِ 6 الَّذِي سَكَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْنَا بِغِنَىً فِي يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ مُخَلِّصِنَا. 7 وَمَنَحَنَا الرَّجَاءَ بِأنْ نَكُونَ وَرَثَةً لِلحَيَاةِ الأبَدِيَّةِ، بَعْدَ أنْ حُسِبنَا أبْرَارًا بِسَبَبِ نِعْمَةِ اللهِ.
8 هَذَا كَلَامٌ جَدِيرٌ بِالثِّقَةِ. وَأُرِيدُ مِنْكَ أنْ تُؤَكِّدَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ لِكَي يَهْتَمَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللهِ بأِنْ يُمَارِسُوا أعْمَالًا صَالِحَةً. فَهَذِهِ هِيَ الأعْمَالُ النَّافِعَةُ وَالمُفِيدَةُ لِلنَّاسِ.
9 لَكِنْ تَجَنَّبِ المُجَادَلَاتِ الغَبِيَّةَ حَوْلَ سُلَالَاتِ النَّسَبِ، وَالمُنَازَعَاتِ وَالشِّجَارَاتِ حَوْلَ مَسَائِلِ شَرِيعَةِ مُوسَى، لِأنَّهَا أُمُورٌ غَيْرُ نَافِعَةٍ وَتَافِهَةٌ. 10 ابتَعِدْ عَنِ الَّذِي يُسَبِّبُ الانقِسَامَ بَعْدَ أنْ تُنذِرَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ عَلَى الأقَلِّ. 11 فَأنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أنَّ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ الشَّخصِ قَدِ انحَرَفَ، وَأنَّهُ مُسْتَمِرٌّ فِي ارتِكَابِ الخَطِيَّةِ، فَحَكَمَ بِذَلِكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ.
تَذْكِيرٌ
12 عِنْدَمَا أُرسِلُ إلَيْكَ أرتِيمَاسَ أوْ تِيخِيكُسَ، ابذُلْ مَا فِي وُسْعِكَ لِلقُدُومِ إلَى مَدِينَةِ نِيكُوبُولِيسَ لِمُقَابَلَتِي، فَقَدْ قَرَّرتُ أنْ أقضِيَ الشِّتَاءَ هُنَاكَ.
13 اعمَلْ مَا فِي وُسْعِكَ لِمُسَاعَدَةِ المُحَامِي زِينَاسَ وَأبُلُّوسَ فِي كُلِّ مَا يَحتَاجَانِ إلَيْهِ لِلسَّفَرِ، لِكَي لَا يَنْقُصَهُمَا شَيءٌ. 14 عَلَى المُؤمِنِينَ أنْ يَتَعَلَّمُوا الاهْتِمَامَ بِمُمَارَسَةِ الأعْمَالِ الصَّالِحَةِ لِكَي يَسُدُّوا الحَاجَاتِ العَاجِلَةَ لِلنَّاسِ فَيَكُونُوا مُثْمِرينَ.
15 جَمِيعُ الَّذِينَ مَعِي يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْكَ. سَلِّمْ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَنَا فِي الإيمَانِ. وَلْتَكُنْ نِعْمَةُ اللهِ مَعَكُمْ جَمِيعًا.

Saved in Order to Do Good
3 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities,(A) to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,(B) 2 to slander no one,(C) to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
3 At one time(D) we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness(E) and love of God our Savior(F) appeared,(G) 5 he saved us,(H) not because of righteous things we had done,(I) but because of his mercy.(J) He saved us through the washing(K) of rebirth and renewal(L) by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us(M) generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace,(N) we might become heirs(O) having the hope(P) of eternal life.(Q) 8 This is a trustworthy saying.(R) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(S) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid(T) foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels(U) about the law,(V) because these are unprofitable and useless.(W) 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.(X) 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.
Final Remarks
12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus(Y) to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there.(Z) 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos(AA) on their way and see that they have everything they need. 14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good,(AB) in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.
15 Everyone with me sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith.(AC)

Graces of the Heirs of Grace
3 Remind them (A)to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, (B)to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 3 For (C)we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when (D)the kindness and the love of (E)God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 (F)not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through (G)the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 (H)whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace (I)we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 (J)This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
Avoid Dissension
9 But (K)avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10 (L)Reject a divisive man after the first and second [a]admonition, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.
Final Messages
12 When I send Artemas to you, or (M)Tychicus, be diligent to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 13 Send Zenas the lawyer and (N)Apollos on their journey with haste, that they may lack nothing. 14 And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
