4 Бо ось наступає той день, що палає, як піч, і стануть всі пишні та кожен, хто чинить безбожне, соломою, і спалить їх день той, який наступає, говорить Господь Саваот, Який не позоставить їм кореня, ані галузки.
2 А для вас, хто Ймення Мойого боїться, зійде Сонце Правди та лікування в промінях Його, і ви вийдете та поскакаєте, мов ті ситі телята!
3 І безбожних топтати ви будете, бо стануть за попіл вони під п'ятами ніг ваших у той день, що його Я вчиню, промовляє Господь Саваот.
4 Згадайте Закона Мойсея, Мого раба, що йому наказав на Хориві устави й права щодо всього Ізраїля.
5 Ось Я пошлю вам пророка Іллю, перше ніж день Господній настане, великий й страшний!
6 І приверне він серце батьків до синів, і серце синівське до їхніх батьків, щоб Я не прийшов, і не вразив цей Край прокляттям!

The Great Day of God
4 “For behold, (A)the day is coming,
Burning like an oven,
And all (B)the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be (C)stubble.
And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“That will (D)leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But to you who (E)fear My name
The (F)Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
3 (G)You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet
On the day that I do this,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
4 “Remember the (H)Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With (I)the statutes and judgments.
5 Behold, I will send you (J)Elijah the prophet
(K)Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
6 And (L)he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and (M)strike the earth with (N)a curse.”

4 万军之耶和华说：“那日临近，势如烧着的火炉，凡狂傲的和行恶的必如碎秸，在那日必被烧尽，根本、枝条一无存留。 2 但向你们敬畏我名的人，必有公义的日头出现，其光线[a]有医治之能。你们必出来，跳跃如圈里的肥犊。 3 你们必践踏恶人，在我所定的日子，他们必如灰尘在你们脚掌之下。这是万军之耶和华说的。
劝众遵律守诫
4 “你们当记念我仆人摩西的律法，就是我在何烈山为以色列众人所吩咐他的律例、典章。
预言以利亚奉遣而至
5 “看哪，耶和华大而可畏之日未到以前，我必差遣先知以利亚到你们那里去。 6 他必使父亲的心转向儿女，儿女的心转向父亲，免得我来咒诅遍地。”
