Canto de Moisés y María
15 Entonces Moisés y los israelitas entonaron este canto en honor del Señor:
Cantaré al Señor,
sublime ha sido su victoria;
caballos y jinetes hundió en el mar.
2 El Señor es mi fortaleza y mi refugio,
él fue mi salvación.
Él es mi Dios, por eso lo alabaré;
es el Dios de mi padre,
por eso lo ensalzaré.
3 El Señor es un guerrero,
su nombre es “Señor”.
4 Él hundió en el mar
los carros y el ejército del faraón;
lo mejor de sus capitanes
el mar de las Cañas se tragó.
5 Cayeron hasta el fondo como piedras,
el mar profundo los cubrió.
6 Fue tu diestra quien lo hizo,
resplandeciente de poder;
tu diestra, Señor, aniquiló al enemigo.
7 Con la inmensidad de tu poder
aplastaste a tus enemigos;
lanzaste el ardor de tu enojo
y como paja se consumieron.
8 Al soplo de tu aliento,
las aguas se amontonaron,
como un muro se alzaron las olas,
y los abismos se cuajaron
en el corazón del mar.
9 Decía el enemigo:
“los perseguiré, los alcanzaré,
me repartiré sus despojos,
y mi codicia saciaré.
Desenvainaré mi espada;
con mi poder los destruiré”.
10 Al soplo de tu aliento,
los cubrió el mar;
como plomo se hundieron
en las impetuosas aguas.
11 ¿Quién hay como tú, Señor,
entre los dioses?
¿Quién como tú,
magnífico en santidad,
terrible por tus hazañas,
autor de prodigios?
12 Extendiste tu diestra
y los tragó la tierra.
13 Guiaste con tu amor,
al pueblo que rescataste;
lo guiaste con tu poder
hasta tu santa morada.
14 Lo oyeron los pueblos
y se estremecieron;
los habitantes de Filistea
se echaron a temblar.
15 Se llenaron de horror
los jefes de Edom;
temblaron de angustia
los príncipes de Moab;
se acobardaron
los habitantes de Canaán.
16 Cayó sobre ellos terror y miedo.
Ante la grandeza de tu poder
quedaron petrificados,
hasta que pasó tu pueblo, Señor,
el pueblo que tu adquiriste.
17 Tú los introduces y los plantas
en el monte de tu heredad,
lugar donde pusiste tu morada,
en el santuario, Señor,
que fundaron tus manos.
18 ¡El Señor reina eternamente!
19 Cuando la caballería del faraón, con sus carros y jinetes, entró en el mar, el Señor hizo que las aguas se volviesen contra ellos; en cambio, los israelitas cruzaron el mar caminando sobre tierra seca. 20 Entonces María, la profetisa, hermana de Aarón, tomó un pandero en sus manos, y todas las mujeres salieron detrás de ella danzando y tocando panderos, 21 mientras ella les cantaba:
“Cantad al Señor,
porque sublime ha sido su victoria;
caballos y jinetes hundió en el mar”.
II.— LA MARCHA A TRAVÉS DEL DESIERTO (15,22—18,27)
Quejas del pueblo (15,22—17,16)
El agua amarga de Mará
22 Moisés hizo partir a los israelitas desde el mar de las Cañas en dirección al desierto de Sur. Caminaron por el desierto tres días sin encontrar agua; 23 llegaron a Mará donde no pudieron beber de sus aguas, porque eran amargas. Por eso se llama ese lugar Mará, —es decir, amargura—.
24 El pueblo comenzó a quejarse de Moisés, diciendo:
— ¿Qué vamos a beber?
25 Entonces Moisés invocó al Señor, y el Señor le mostró un arbusto. Moisés lo arrojó al agua y las aguas se volvieron dulces.
Allí el Señor dio al pueblo leyes y normas, y lo puso a prueba 26 diciéndole:
— Si obedeces al Señor, tu Dios, haciendo lo que él aprueba, cumpliendo sus mandatos y observando todas sus leyes, no te enviaré las enfermedades que he enviado a los egipcios, porque yo soy el Señor, quien cuida de tu salud.
27 Después llegaron a Elín, donde había doce manantiales y setenta palmeras, y acamparon allí, junto a los manantiales.

Cántico de Moisés y de María
15 Entonces cantó Moisés y los hijos de Israel este cántico(A) a Jehová, y dijeron:
Cantaré yo a Jehová, porque se ha magnificado grandemente;
Ha echado en el mar al caballo y al jinete.
2 Jehová es mi fortaleza y mi cántico,
Y ha sido mi salvación.(B)
Este es mi Dios, y lo alabaré;
Dios de mi padre, y lo enalteceré.
3 Jehová es varón de guerra;
Jehová es su nombre.
4 Echó en el mar los carros de Faraón y su ejército;
Y sus capitanes escogidos fueron hundidos en el Mar Rojo.
5 Los abismos los cubrieron;
Descendieron a las profundidades como piedra.
6 Tu diestra, oh Jehová, ha sido magnificada en poder;
Tu diestra, oh Jehová, ha quebrantado al enemigo.
7 Y con la grandeza de tu poder has derribado a los que se levantaron contra ti.
Enviaste tu ira; los consumió como a hojarasca.
8 Al soplo de tu aliento se amontonaron las aguas;
Se juntaron las corrientes como en un montón;
Los abismos se cuajaron en medio del mar.
9 El enemigo dijo:
Perseguiré, apresaré, repartiré despojos;
Mi alma se saciará de ellos;
Sacaré mi espada, los destruirá mi mano.
10 Soplaste con tu viento; los cubrió el mar;
Se hundieron como plomo en las impetuosas aguas.
11 ¿Quién como tú, oh Jehová, entre los dioses?
¿Quién como tú, magnífico en santidad,
Terrible en maravillosas hazañas, hacedor de prodigios?
12 Extendiste tu diestra;
La tierra los tragó.
13 Condujiste en tu misericordia a este pueblo que redimiste;
Lo llevaste con tu poder a tu santa morada.
14 Lo oirán los pueblos, y temblarán;
Se apoderará dolor de la tierra de los filisteos.
15 Entonces los caudillos de Edom se turbarán;
A los valientes de Moab les sobrecogerá temblor;
Se acobardarán todos los moradores de Canaán.
16 Caiga sobre ellos temblor y espanto;
A la grandeza de tu brazo enmudezcan como una piedra;
Hasta que haya pasado tu pueblo, oh Jehová,
Hasta que haya pasado este pueblo que tú rescataste.
17 Tú los introducirás y los plantarás en el monte de tu heredad,
En el lugar de tu morada, que tú has preparado, oh Jehová,
En el santuario que tus manos, oh Jehová, han afirmado.
18 Jehová reinará eternamente y para siempre.
19 Porque Faraón entró cabalgando con sus carros y su gente de a caballo en el mar, y Jehová hizo volver las aguas del mar sobre ellos; mas los hijos de Israel pasaron en seco por en medio del mar. 20 Y María la profetisa, hermana de Aarón, tomó un pandero en su mano, y todas las mujeres salieron en pos de ella con panderos y danzas. 21 Y María les respondía:
Cantad a Jehová, porque en extremo se ha engrandecido;
Ha echado en el mar al caballo y al jinete.
El agua amarga de Mara
22 E hizo Moisés que partiese Israel del Mar Rojo, y salieron al desierto de Shur; y anduvieron tres días por el desierto sin hallar agua. 23 Y llegaron a Mara, y no pudieron beber las aguas de Mara, porque eran amargas; por eso le pusieron el nombre de Mara.[a] 24 Entonces el pueblo murmuró contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿Qué hemos de beber? 25 Y Moisés clamó a Jehová, y Jehová le mostró un árbol; y lo echó en las aguas, y las aguas se endulzaron. Allí les dio estatutos y ordenanzas, y allí los probó; 26 y dijo: Si oyeres atentamente la voz de Jehová tu Dios, e hicieres lo recto delante de sus ojos, y dieres oído a sus mandamientos, y guardares todos sus estatutos, ninguna enfermedad de las que envié a los egipcios te enviaré a ti; porque yo soy Jehová tu sanador. 27 Y llegaron a Elim, donde había doce fuentes de aguas, y setenta palmeras; y acamparon allí junto a las aguas.

15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song(A) to the Lord:
“I will sing(B) to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(C)
he has hurled into the sea.(D)
2 “The Lord is my strength(E) and my defense[a];
he has become my salvation.(F)
He is my God,(G) and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt(H) him.
3 The Lord is a warrior;(I)
the Lord is his name.(J)
4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army(K)
he has hurled into the sea.
The best of Pharaoh’s officers
are drowned in the Red Sea.[b]
5 The deep waters(L) have covered them;
they sank to the depths like a stone.(M)
6 Your right hand,(N) Lord,
was majestic in power.
Your right hand,(O) Lord,
shattered(P) the enemy.
7 “In the greatness of your majesty(Q)
you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;(R)
it consumed(S) them like stubble.
8 By the blast of your nostrils(T)
the waters piled up.(U)
The surging waters stood up like a wall;(V)
the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.(W)
9 The enemy boasted,
‘I will pursue,(X) I will overtake them.
I will divide the spoils;(Y)
I will gorge myself on them.
I will draw my sword
and my hand will destroy them.’
10 But you blew with your breath,(Z)
and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead
in the mighty waters.(AA)
11 Who among the gods
is like you,(AB) Lord?
Who is like you—
majestic in holiness,(AC)
awesome in glory,(AD)
working wonders?(AE)
12 “You stretch out(AF) your right hand,
and the earth swallows your enemies.(AG)
13 In your unfailing love you will lead(AH)
the people you have redeemed.(AI)
In your strength you will guide them
to your holy dwelling.(AJ)
14 The nations will hear and tremble;(AK)
anguish(AL) will grip the people of Philistia.(AM)
15 The chiefs(AN) of Edom(AO) will be terrified,
the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling,(AP)
the people[c] of Canaan will melt(AQ) away;
16 terror(AR) and dread will fall on them.
By the power of your arm
they will be as still as a stone(AS)—
until your people pass by, Lord,
until the people you bought[d](AT) pass by.(AU)
17 You will bring(AV) them in and plant(AW) them
on the mountain(AX) of your inheritance—
the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling,(AY)
the sanctuary,(AZ) Lord, your hands established.
18 “The Lord reigns
for ever and ever.”(BA)
19 When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[e] went into the sea,(BB) the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.(BC) 20 Then Miriam(BD) the prophet,(BE) Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels(BF) and dancing.(BG) 21 Miriam sang(BH) to them:
“Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(BI)
he has hurled into the sea.”(BJ)
The Waters of Marah and Elim
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert(BK) of Shur.(BL) For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.(BM) 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.[f](BN)) 24 So the people grumbled(BO) against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”(BP)
25 Then Moses cried out(BQ) to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw(BR) it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test.(BS) 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep(BT) all his decrees,(BU) I will not bring on you any of the diseases(BV) I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals(BW) you.”
27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped(BX) there near the water.
