Anuncio de la muerte de los hijos mayores
11 El Señor le dijo a Moisés:
—Todavía voy a traer otra plaga sobre el faraón y los egipcios. Después de esto, el faraón no sólo va a dejar que ustedes salgan, sino que él mismo los va a echar de aquí. 2 Pero ahora diles a los israelitas, hombres y mujeres, que pidan a sus vecinos y vecinas objetos de oro y plata.
3 El Señor hizo que los egipcios fueran muy amables con los israelitas. Además, los funcionarios del faraón consideraban a Moisés como un hombre extraordinario, y lo mismo pensaban todos en Egipto.
4 Moisés dijo al faraón:
—Así ha dicho el Señor: “A la medianoche pasaré por todo Egipto, 5 y morirá el hijo mayor de cada familia egipcia, desde el hijo mayor del faraón que ocupa el trono, hasta el hijo mayor de la esclava que trabaja en el molino. También morirán todas las primeras crías de los animales. 6 En todo Egipto habrá gritos de dolor, como nunca los ha habido ni los volverá a haber.” 7 Y para que sepan ustedes que el Señor hace diferencia entre egipcios e israelitas, ni siquiera le ladrarán los perros a ningún hombre o animal de los israelitas. 8 Entonces vendrán a verme todos estos funcionarios tuyos, y de rodillas me pedirán: “Váyanse, tú y toda la gente que te sigue.” Antes de eso, no me iré.
Y muy enojado, Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón. 9 Después, el Señor le dijo a Moisés:
—El faraón no les va a hacer caso a ustedes, y así serán más las maravillas que yo haré en Egipto.
10 Moisés y Aarón hicieron todas estas maravillas delante del faraón, pero como el Señor lo había hecho ponerse terco, el faraón no dejó salir de Egipto a los israelitas.

The Plague on the Firstborn
11 Now the Lord had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go(A) from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely.(B) 2 Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold.”(C) 3 (The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed(D) toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded(E) in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.)
4 So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight(F) I will go throughout Egypt.(G) 5 Every firstborn(H) son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill,(I) and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 There will be loud wailing(J) throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. 7 But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction(K) between Egypt and Israel. 8 All these officials of yours will come to me, bowing down before me and saying, ‘Go,(L) you and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will leave.”(M) Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh.
9 The Lord had said to Moses, “Pharaoh will refuse to listen(N) to you—so that my wonders(O) may be multiplied in Egypt.” 10 Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart,(P) and he would not let the Israelites go out of his country.

11 And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.
3 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
