Deut 22:14–21

22:14–21 These verses provide for judging a husband’s complaint that his wife was not a virgin when they married. Such an accusation, when made by a man who wished to be rid of a wife who displeased him, could be disproved by the wife’s parents presenting visible “evidence of . . . virginity,” presumably the stained bedclothes of the wedding night (v. 15).
