1:1 apostle of Christ Jesus. One sent out as an official representative of Christ. This phrase is commonly used by Paul as a self-designation in the openings of his letters.

God our Savior. As Author of the covenant of grace, God is Savior (2:3; 4:10; Titus 1:3; 2:10; 3:4).

Christ Jesus our hope. Jesus is the basis for Christian hope, because He is the Mediator of the covenant of grace (2:5; 4:10; 5:5; 6:17). See “Hope” at Heb. 6:18.
