15 For (A)you did not receive (B)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of (C)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, (D)“Abba! Father!” 16 (E)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then (F)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (G)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Future Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (H)are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for (I)the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation (J)was subjected to futility, not willingly, but (K)because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that (L)the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that (M)the whole creation (N)has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have (O)the firstfruits of the Spirit, (P)groan inwardly as (Q)we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, (R)the redemption of our bodies. 24 For (S)in this hope we were saved. Now (T)hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we (U)wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For (V)we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but (W)the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And (X)he who searches hearts knows what is (Y)the mind of the Spirit, because[a] the Spirit (Z)intercedes for the saints (AA)according to the will of God.

15 For (A)you did not receive the spirit of bondage again (B)to fear, but you received the (C)Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, (D)“Abba,[a] Father.” 16 (E)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then (F)heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, (G)if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

From Suffering to Glory

18 For I consider that (H)the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For (I)the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For (J)the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of [b]corruption into the glorious (K)liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation (L)groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have (M)the firstfruits of the Spirit, (N)even we ourselves groan (O)within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the (P)redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but (Q)hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For (R)we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but (S)the Spirit Himself makes intercession [c]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now (T)He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints (U)according to the will of God.
