¹⁰ The death he died, he died to sin^(A) once for all;^(B) but the life he lives, he lives to God.

¹¹ In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin^(C) but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ¹² Therefore do not let sin reign^(D) in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

¹² Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.^{(A) 13} For if you live according to the flesh, you will die;^(B) but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,^(C) you will live.^(D)

¹⁴ For those who are led by the Spirit of God^(E) are the children of God.^(F)

⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;^(A)

⁹ So we make it our goal to please him,^(A) whether we are at home in the body or away from it. ¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us^(B) for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Confirming One’s Calling and Election

³ His divine power^(A) has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him^(B) who called us^(C) by his own glory and goodness.
