The Righteousness of God through Faith

²¹ But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed,^(A) attested by the Law and the Prophets.^[a](B)

³¹ But Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness,^(A) has not achieved the righteousness of the law.^[a](B)

⁴ For Christ is the end^[a] of the law for righteousness^(A) to everyone who believes,^{(B) 5} since Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.^[b](C)

²¹ I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law,^(A) then Christ died^(B) for nothing.

²¹ Is the law therefore contrary to God’s promises? Absolutely not! For if the law had been granted with the ability to give life, then righteousness would certainly be on the basis of the law.
