Hide Me from the Wicked

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

64 Hear my voice, O God, in my (A)complaint;
    preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
Hide me from (B)the secret plots of the wicked,
    from the throng of evildoers,
who (C)whet their tongues like swords,
    who (D)aim bitter words like arrows,
shooting from (E)ambush at the blameless,
    shooting at him suddenly and (F)without fear.
They (G)hold fast to their evil purpose;
    they talk of (H)laying snares secretly,
thinking, (I)“Who can see them?”
    They search out injustice,
saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.”
    For (J)the inward mind and heart of a man are deep.

(K)But God shoots his arrow at them;
    they are wounded suddenly.
They are brought to ruin, with their own (L)tongues turned against them;
    all who (M)see them will (N)wag their heads.
Then all mankind (O)fears;
    they (P)tell what God has brought about
    and ponder what he has done.

10 Let (Q)the righteous one rejoice in the Lord
    and (R)take refuge in him!
Let all (S)the upright in heart exult!

O God of Our Salvation

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song.

65 Praise (T)is due to you,[a] O God, in Zion,
    and to you shall (U)vows be performed.
O you who (V)hear prayer,
    to you (W)shall all flesh come.
When (X)iniquities prevail against me,
    you (Y)atone for our transgressions.
(Z)Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,
    to (AA)dwell in your courts!
We shall be (AB)satisfied with the goodness of your house,
    the holiness of your temple!

By (AC)awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness,
    O God of our salvation,
the hope of all (AD)the ends of the earth
    and of the farthest seas;
the one who by his strength established the mountains,
    being (AE)girded with might;
who (AF)stills the roaring of the seas,
    the roaring of their waves,
    (AG)the tumult of the peoples,
so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs.
You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

You visit the earth and (AH)water it;[b]
    you greatly enrich it;
(AI)the river of God is full of water;
    (AJ)you provide their grain,
    for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
    settling its ridges,
softening it with (AK)showers,
    and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
    your wagon tracks (AL)overflow with abundance.
12 (AM)The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
    the hills (AN)gird themselves with joy,
13 (AO)the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
    the valleys deck themselves with grain,
    they (AP)shout and sing together for joy.

How Awesome Are Your Deeds

To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm.

66 (AQ)Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
    sing the glory of his name;
    (AR)give to him glorious praise!
Say to God, (AS)“How awesome are your deeds!
    So great is your power that your enemies (AT)come cringing to you.
(AU)All the earth worships you
    and sings praises to you;
    they sing praises to your name.” Selah

(AV)Come and see what God has done:
    (AW)he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
He (AX)turned the sea into dry land;
    they (AY)passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
    who rules by his might forever,
whose (AZ)eyes keep watch on the nations—
    let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Bless our God, O peoples;
    let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living
    and (BA)has not let our feet slip.
10 For you, O God, have (BB)tested us;
    you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into (BC)the net;
    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men (BD)ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through (BE)water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings;
    I will (BF)perform my vows to you,
14 that which my lips uttered
    and my mouth promised (BG)when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals,
    with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams;
I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah

16 (BH)Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
17 I cried to him with my mouth,
    and high praise was on[c] my tongue.[d]
18 If I had (BI)cherished iniquity in my heart,
    (BJ)the Lord would not have listened.
19 But truly (BK)God has listened;
    he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God,
    because he has not rejected my prayer
    or removed his steadfast love from me!

Make Your Face Shine upon Us

To the choirmaster: with (BL)stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

67 May God (BM)be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face to (BN)shine upon us, Selah
that (BO)your way may be known on earth,
    your (BP)saving power among all nations.
(BQ)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you (BR)judge the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
(BS)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!

The earth has (BT)yielded its increase;
    God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
    let (BU)all the ends of the earth fear him!

God Shall Scatter His Enemies

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 (BV)God shall arise, his enemies shall be (BW)scattered;
    and those who hate him shall flee before him!
As (BX)smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away;
    (BY)as wax melts before fire,
    so the wicked shall perish before God!
But (BZ)the righteous shall be glad;
    they shall exult before God;
    they shall be jubilant with joy!

Sing to God, (CA)sing praises to his name;
    (CB)lift up a song to him who (CC)rides through (CD)the deserts;
his name is (CE)the Lord;
    exult before him!
(CF)Father of the fatherless and (CG)protector of widows
    is God in his holy habitation.
God (CH)settles the solitary in a home;
    he (CI)leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
    but (CJ)the rebellious dwell in (CK)a parched land.

O God, when you (CL)went out before your people,
    (CM)when you marched through (CN)the wilderness, Selah
(CO)the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain,
    before God, the One of Sinai,
    before God,[e] the God of Israel.
(CP)Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
    you restored your inheritance as it languished;
10 your flock[f] found a dwelling in it;
    in your goodness, O God, you (CQ)provided for the needy.

11 The Lord gives (CR)the word;
    (CS)the women who announce the news are a great host:
12     (CT)“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!”
The women at home (CU)divide the spoil—
13     though you men lie among (CV)the sheepfolds—
the wings of a dove covered with silver,
    its pinions with shimmering gold.
14 When the Almighty scatters kings there,
    let snow fall on (CW)Zalmon.

15 O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan;
    O many-peaked[g] mountain, mountain of Bashan!
16 Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain,
    at the mount that God (CX)desired for his abode,
    yes, where the Lord will dwell forever?
17 (CY)The chariots of God are twice ten thousand,
    thousands upon thousands;
    the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
18 (CZ)You ascended on high,
    (DA)leading a host of captives in your train
    and (DB)receiving gifts among men,
even among (DC)the rebellious, (DD)that the Lord God may dwell there.

19 Blessed be the Lord,
    who daily (DE)bears us up;
    God is our salvation. Selah
20 Our God is a God of salvation,
    (DF)and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.
21 (DG)But God will strike the heads of his enemies,
    the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways.
22 The Lord said,
    “I will bring them back (DH)from Bashan,
(DI)I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
23 that you may (DJ)strike your feet in their blood,
    that (DK)the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from the foe.”

24 Your procession is[h] seen, O God,
    the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary—
25 (DL)the singers in front, (DM)the musicians last,
    between them (DN)virgins playing tambourines:
26 (DO)“Bless God in the great congregation,
    the Lord, O you[i] who are of (DP)Israel's fountain!”
27 There is (DQ)Benjamin, the least of them, in the lead,
    the princes of Judah in their throng,
    the princes of (DR)Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

28 (DS)Summon your power, O God,[j]
    the power, O God, by which you have worked for us.
29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem
    kings shall (DT)bear gifts to you.
30 Rebuke (DU)the beasts that dwell among the reeds,
    the herd of (DV)bulls with the calves of the peoples.
(DW)Trample underfoot those who lust after tribute;
    scatter the peoples who delight in war.[k]
31 Nobles shall come from (DX)Egypt;
    (DY)Cush shall hasten to (DZ)stretch out her hands to God.

32 (EA)O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God;
    sing praises to the Lord, Selah
33 to him (EB)who rides in (EC)the heavens, the ancient heavens;
    behold, he (ED)sends out his voice, his mighty voice.
34 (EE)Ascribe power to God,
    whose majesty is over Israel,
    and whose (EF)power is in (EG)the skies.
35 (EH)Awesome is God from his[l] (EI)sanctuary;
    the God of Israel—he is the one who gives (EJ)power and strength to his people.
Blessed be God!

The Collection for the Saints

16 Now concerning[a] (A)the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On (B)the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, (C)as he may prosper, (D)so that there will be no collecting when I come. And when I arrive, I will send (E)those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.

Plans for Travel

(F)I will visit you after passing through (G)Macedonia, for (H)I intend to pass through Macedonia, and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may (I)help me on my journey, wherever I go. For I do not want to see you now (J)just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, (K)if the Lord permits. But I will stay in Ephesus until (L)Pentecost, for (M)a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and (N)there are many adversaries.

10 (O)When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for (P)he is doing (Q)the work of the Lord, as I am. 11 So (R)let no one despise him. (S)Help him on his way (T)in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.

Final Instructions

12 Now concerning (U)our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will[b] to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.

13 (V)Be watchful, (W)stand firm in the faith, (X)act like men, (Y)be strong. 14 (Z)Let all that you do be done in love.

15 Now I urge you, brothers[c]—you know that (AA)the household[d] of Stephanas were (AB)the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves (AC)to the service of the saints— 16 (AD)be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer. 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for (AE)your absence, 18 for they (AF)refreshed my spirit as well as yours. (AG)Give recognition to such people.

Greetings

19 The churches of Asia send you greetings. (AH)Aquila and Prisca, together with (AI)the church in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord. 20 All the brothers send you greetings. (AJ)Greet one another with a holy kiss.

21 I, Paul, write (AK)this greeting with my own hand. 22 If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be (AL)accursed. Our Lord, come![e] 23 (AM)The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. 24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
