    How long will you ^(C)hide your face from me?

    and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

^19 (A)My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain!
    Oh the walls of my heart!
My heart is beating wildly;
    I cannot keep silent,
for I hear the sound of the trumpet,
    the alarm of war.

¹⁸ Why is my pain unceasing,
    ^(A)my wound incurable,
    refusing to be healed?
Will you be to me ^(B)like a deceitful brook,
    like waters that fail?

^15 (A)Why do you cry out over your hurt?
    ^(B)Your pain is incurable.
Because your guilt is great,
    ^(C)because your sins are flagrant,
    I have done these things to you.

² O Lord, ^(A)how long shall I cry for help,
    and you will not hear?
Or cry to you ^(B)“Violence!”
    and you will not save?
^3 (C)Why do you make me see iniquity,
    and why do you idly look at wrong?
Destruction ^(D)and violence are before me;
    strife and contention arise.
^4 (E)So the law is paralyzed,
    and justice never goes forth.
^(F)For the wicked surround the righteous;
    so justice goes forth perverted.
