^8 (A)The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

^9 (A)He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.

^13 (A)As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.

^16 (A)For I will not contend forever,
Nor will I always be angry;
For the spirit would fail before Me,
