¹⁴⁵With my ^(A)whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord!
    I will ^(B)keep your statutes.
¹⁴⁶I call to you; save me,
    that I may observe your testimonies.
¹⁴⁷I rise before ^(C)dawn and cry for help;
    I ^(D)hope in your words.
¹⁴⁸My eyes are awake before ^(E)the watches of the night,
    that I may meditate on your promise.
¹⁴⁹Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;
    O Lord, ^(F)according to your justice ^(G)give me life.
¹⁵⁰They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose;
    they are far from your law.

Jeremiah 25:30-38

³⁰“You, therefore, shall prophesy against them all these words, and say to them:

^(A)“‘The Lord will roar from on high,
    and from his holy habitation utter his voice;
he will roar mightily against his fold,
    ^(B)and shout, like those who tread grapes,
    against all the inhabitants of the earth.
³¹The clamor will resound to the ends of the earth,
    for ^(C)the Lord has an indictment against the nations;
^(D)he is entering into judgment with all flesh,
    and the wicked he will put to the sword,
declares the Lord.’

³²“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
Behold, disaster is going forth
from nation to nation,
^(E)and a great tempest is stirring
^(F)from the farthest parts of the earth!

³³^(G)“And those pierced by the Lord on that day shall extend from one end of the earth to the other. ^(H)They shall not be lamented, ^(I)or gathered, or buried; ^(J)they shall be dung on the surface of the ground.

³⁴^(K)“Wail, ^(L)you shepherds, and cry out,
    ^(M)and roll in ashes, you lords of the flock,
for the days of your slaughter and dispersion have come,
    and you shall fall like a choice vessel.
³⁵No refuge will remain ^(N)for the shepherds,
    nor escape for the lords of the flock.
³⁶A voice—the cry ^(O)of the shepherds,
    ^(P)and the wail of the lords of the flock!
For the Lord is laying waste their pasture,
³⁷    ^(Q)and the peaceful folds are devastated
    ^(R)because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
³⁸Like a lion ^(S)he has left his lair,
    for their land has become a waste
because of ^(T)the sword of the oppressor,
    ^(U)and because of his fierce anger.”

Romans 10:14-21

¹⁴How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him ^(A)of whom they have never heard?^[a] And how are they to hear ^(B)without someone preaching? ¹⁵And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ^(C)“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” ¹⁶But ^(D)they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ^(E)“Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” ¹⁷So ^(F)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

¹⁸But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for

^(G)“Their voice has gone out ^(H)to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”

¹⁹But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

^(I)“I will ^(J)make you jealous of those who are not a nation;
with a ^(K)foolish nation I will make you angry.”

²⁰Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,

^(L)“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”

²¹But of Israel he says, ^(M)“All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

I Am the Good Shepherd

10 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. ²But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. ³To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. ⁴When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. ⁵^(A)A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” ⁶This figure of speech Jesus ^(B)used with them, but they ^(C)did not understand what he was saying to them.

⁷So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(D)I am the door of the sheep. ⁸All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. ⁹I am the door. If anyone enters by me, ^(E)he will be saved and will go in and out and ^(F)find pasture. ¹⁰The thief comes only to steal and ^(G)kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. ¹¹^(H)I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd ^(I)lays down his life for the sheep. ¹²He who is ^(J)a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and ^(K)leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and ^(L)scatters them. ¹³He flees because ^(M)he is a hired hand and ^(N)cares nothing for the sheep. ¹⁴^(O)I am the good shepherd. ^(P)I know my own and ^(Q)my own know me, ¹⁵^(R)just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and ^(S)I lay down my life for the sheep. ¹⁶And ^(T)I have other sheep that are not of this fold. ^(U)I must bring them also, and ^(V)they will listen to my voice. So there will be ^(W)one flock, ^(X)one shepherd. ¹⁷^(Y)For this reason the Father loves me, ^(Z)because ^(AA)I lay down my life that I may take it up again. ¹⁸^(AB)No one takes it from me, but ^(AC)I lay it down ^(AD)of my own accord.
