Jesus Begins His Ministry

12 Now when Jesus heard that (A)John had been taken into custody, (B)He withdrew into Galilee; 13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and (C)settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:

15 (D)The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
[a]By the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the [b]Gentiles
16 (E)The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.”

23 Therefore, if you are (A)presenting your [a]offering at the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your [b]offering there before the altar and go; first be (B)reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your [c]offering. 25 (C)[d]Come to good terms with your accuser quickly, while you are with him on the way to court, so that your accuser will not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you will not be thrown into prison.

23 But if (A)your eye is [a]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

24 (B)No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and [b](C)wealth.

The Cure for Anxiety

25 (D)For this reason I say to you, [c]do not be (E)worried about your [d]life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 (F)Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?

Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed

14 (E)When Jesus came into Peter’s [d]home, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever. 15 And He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and [e]waited on Him.

68 (A)Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited us and accomplished (B)redemption for His people,
69 And has raised up a (C)horn of salvation for us
In the house of (D)His servant David—
70 (E)Just as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets (F)from ancient times—
71 [a](G)Salvation (H)from our enemies,
And from the hand of all who hate us;
72 (I)To show mercy to our fathers,
(J)And to remember His holy covenant,
73 (K)The oath which He swore to our father Abraham,
74 To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
Would serve Him without fear,
75 (L)In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.
76 And you, child, also will be called the (M)prophet of (N)the Most High;
For you will go on (O)before the Lord to (P)prepare His ways;
77 To give His people the knowledge of salvation
[b]By (Q)the forgiveness of their sins,
78 Because of the tender mercy of our God,
With which (R)the Sunrise from on high will visit us,
79 (S)To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
To guide our feet into the (T)way of peace.”
