35 And one of them, a Law-expert, asked Him— testing Him— 36 “Teacher, which is the great[a] commandment in the Law?” 37 And the One said to him: “‘You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind’ [Deut 6:5]— 38 this is the great and foremost[b] commandment. 39 And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’ [Lev 19:18]. 40 The whole Law and the Prophets hang[c] on these two commandments”.
