The Escape to Egypt

¹³ Now when they had gone, behold, an ^(A)angel of the Lord *^(B)appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”

¹⁴ So ^[a]Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt. ¹⁵ He ^[b]stayed there until the death of Herod; this happened so that what had been spoken by the Lord through ^[c]the prophet would be fulfilled: “^(C)Out of Egypt I called ^(D)My Son.”

^18 (A)You shall not take vengeance, ^(B)nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but ^(C)you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.

³⁴ “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, ^(A)inherit the kingdom prepared for you ^(B)from the foundation of the world. ³⁵ For ^(C)I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; ^(D)I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; ^36 (E)naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you ^(F)visited Me; ^(G)I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ³⁸ And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ³⁹ And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ ⁴⁰ And ^(H)the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, ^(I)to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’
