¹⁰ “But when you are invited, go and recline in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ You will then be honored^(A) in the presence of all the other guests.^(B)

⁴¹ “I do not accept glory^(A) from men,

⁴⁴ How can you believe? While accepting glory from one another, you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only^(A) God.^(B)

⁵⁰ I do not seek My glory;^(A) the One who seeks it also judges.

⁵⁴ “If I glorify Myself,” Jesus answered, “My glory is nothing. My Father—you say about Him, ‘He is our God’—He is the One who glorifies Me.

⁴³ For they loved praise from men^(A) more than praise from God.^[a](B)

⁴ They are Israelites,^(A) and to them belong the adoption,^(B) the glory,^(C) the covenants,^(D) the giving of the law,^(E) the temple service,^(F) and the promises.^(G)

¹⁵ but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory?^(A) For her hair is given to her^[a] as a covering.
