The Parable of the Good Samaritan(A)
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”(B)
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a];(C) and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”(D)
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”(E)

3 So he left Judea(A) and went back once more to Galilee.
4 Now he had to go through Samaria.(B) 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.(C) 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”(D) 8 (His disciples had gone into the town(E) to buy food.)
