John 16:25-17:19

²⁵“These things I have spoken to you in ^(A)figures of speech; ^(B)an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. ²⁶^(C)On that day ^(D)you will ask in My name, and I am not saying to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; ²⁷for ^(E)the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and ^(F)have believed that ^(G)I came forth from the Father. ²⁸^(H)I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and ^(I)going to the Father.”

²⁹His disciples *said, “See, now You are speaking plainly and are not ^[a]using any ^(J)figure of speech. ³⁰Now we know that You know all things, and that You have no need for anyone to question You; this is why we ^(K)believe that You ^(L)came forth from God.” ³¹Jesus replied to them, “Do you now believe? ³²Behold, ^(M)an hour is coming, and has already come, for ^(N)you to be scattered, each to ^(O)his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet ^(P)I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. ³³These things I have spoken to you so that ^(Q)in Me you may have peace. ^(R)In the world you have tribulation, but ^(S)take courage; ^(T)I have overcome the world.”

The High Priestly Prayer

17 Jesus spoke these things; and ^(U)raising His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; ^(V)glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You, ²just as ^(W)You gave Him authority over all ^[b]mankind, so that ^[c]^(X)to all whom You have given Him, ^(Y)He may give eternal life. ³And this is eternal life, that they may know You, ^(Z)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom ^(AA)You have sent. ⁴^(AB)I glorified You on the earth ^[d]^(AC)by accomplishing the work which You have given Me to do. ⁵And now You, Father, ^(AD)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had ^(AE)with You before the world existed.

⁶“^(AF)I have revealed Your name to the men whom ^(AG)You gave Me out of the world; they were ^(AH)Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have ^(AI)followed Your word. ⁷Now they have come to know that everything which You have given Me is from You; ⁸for ^(AJ)the words which You gave Me ^(AK)I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that ^(AL)I came forth from You, and they believed that ^(AM)You sent Me. ⁹^(AN)I ask on their behalf; ^(AO)I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom ^(AP)You have given Me, because ^(AQ)they are Yours; ¹⁰and ^(AR)all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. ¹¹I am no longer going to be in the world; and yet ^(AS)they themselves are in the world, and ^(AT)I am coming to You. ^(AU)Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name ^(AV)which You have given Me, so that ^(AW)they may be one just as We are. ¹²While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name, ^(AX)which You have given Me; and I guarded them, and ^(AY)not one of them perished except ^(AZ)the ^[e]son of destruction, so that the ^(BA)Scripture would be fulfilled.

The Disciples in the World

¹³But now ^(BB)I am coming to You; and ^(BC)these things I speak in the world so that they may have My ^(BD)joy made full in themselves. ¹⁴I have given them Your word; and ^(BE)the world has hated them because ^(BF)they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. ¹⁵I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them away from ^[f]^(BG)the evil one. ¹⁶^(BH)They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. ¹⁷^(BI)Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. ¹⁸Just as ^(BJ)You sent Me into the world, ^(BK)I also sent them into the world. ¹⁹And for their sakes I ^(BL)sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be ^(BM)sanctified ^(BN)in truth.
