¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

³ concerning his Son, ^(A)who was descended from David^{[a] (B)}according to the flesh

³ For ^(A)God has done what the law, ^(B)weakened by the flesh, ^(C)could not do. ^(D)By sending his own Son ^(E)in the likeness of sinful flesh and ^(F)for sin,^[a] he condemned sin in the flesh,

⁴ But ^(A)when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, ^(B)born ^(C)of woman, born ^(D)under the law,

⁷ but ^(A)emptied himself, by taking the form of a ^(B)servant,^{[a] (C)}being born in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself by ^(D)becoming obedient to the point of death, ^(E)even death on a cross.

The Preeminence of Christ

^15 (A)He is the image of ^(B)the invisible God, ^(C)the firstborn of all creation.

¹⁶ Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

³ He is the radiance of the glory of God and ^(A)the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. ^(B)After making purification for sins, ^(C)he sat down ^(D)at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

⁹ But we see him ^(A)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, ^(B)crowned with glory and honor ^(C)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might ^(D)taste death ^(E)for everyone.

¹⁰ For it ^(F)was fitting that he, ^(G)for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons ^(H)to glory, should make the ^(I)founder of their salvation ^(J)perfect through suffering. ¹¹ For ^(K)he who sanctifies and ^(L)those who are sanctified ^(M)all have one source.^[a] That is why he is not ashamed to call them ^(N)brothers,^[b]
