³ You have enlarged the nation^(A)
    and increased their joy;^(B)
they rejoice before you
    as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
    when dividing the plunder.^(C)
4 For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,^(D)
    you have shattered^(E)
the yoke^(F) that burdens them,
    the bar across their shoulders,^(G)
    the rod of their oppressor.^(H)

³ With joy you will draw water^(A)
    from the wells^(B) of salvation.

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;^(D)
    make known among the nations^(E) what he has done,
    and proclaim that his name is exalted.^(F)
5 Sing^(G) to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;^(H)
    let this be known to all the world.
⁶ Shout aloud and sing for joy,^(I) people of Zion,
    for great^(J) is the Holy One of Israel^(K) among you.^(L)”

⁷ All the lands are at rest and at peace;^(A)
    they break into singing.^(B)
8 Even the junipers^(C) and the cedars of Lebanon
    gloat over you and say,
“Now that you have been laid low,
    no one comes to cut us down.”^(D)

⁸     he will swallow up death^(A) forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears^(B)
    from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace^(C)
    from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.^(D)

“Surely this is our God;^(F)
    we trusted^(G) in him, and he saved^(H) us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
    let us rejoice^(I) and be glad in his salvation.”^(J)

¹⁵ “Although you have been forsaken^(A) and hated,
    with no one traveling^(B) through,
I will make you the everlasting pride^(C)
    and the joy^(D) of all generations.
